ABUJA, July 12, 2026 — The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced the successful upload of the names of its presidential candidate, running mate and National Assembly candidates onto the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Candidate Nomination Portal ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The announcement was made on Sunday by the National Chairman of the PDP, Hon. Abdulrahman Mohammed Takushara, who described the development as another major milestone in the party’s preparations for the elections.

“I am pleased to inform all PDP members and Nigerians that our great Party, under my leadership, has successfully uploaded the names of our Presidential Candidate, his Running Mate, and our National Assembly candidates onto the INEC Candidate Nomination Portal,” Takushara said.

According to the PDP National Chairman, the successful submission demonstrates the party’s determination to participate fully in the 2027 electoral process.

“This is a clear demonstration of our commitment to the promise we made that, under my leadership, the PDP will fully participate in the 2027 General Elections. Today, we have taken another decisive step towards fulfilling that promise,” he stated.

Takushara disclosed that the party was awaiting the completion of the upload process for its governorship and State Houses of Assembly candidates.

“As we await the conclusion of the upload of our Governorship and State Houses of Assembly candidates, I, on behalf of the National Working Committee of our Party, extend my heartfelt congratulations to all PDP members across Nigeria and around the world,” he added.

He called on party members and supporters to remain united as the PDP intensifies preparations for the 2027 elections.

“Together, we will continue to build a stronger, more united Party and a better future for our nation,” Takushara said.

A man identified as Ejike Ofoegbu and online publisher of Igbo Time Magazine, has admitted responsibility for creating and circulating videos on Facebook and other social media platforms in which he falsely claimed to be Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s son, Ozonna Soludo.

In a video released by Ofoegbu, he acknowledged that the claims made in the skits were fabricated and apologised to Governor Soludo, his family and Nigerians. GeographicReference

According to him, several statements attributed to both the governor and his son were entirely false.

“I wish to offer my deepest and most sincere apology to Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, the Executive Governor of Anambra State, his family, and the general public.

“I publicly admit that the stories I published concerning Governor Soludo and his son were completely fake, false, fabricated, and untrue.

“They did not come from Governor Soludo, his son, his family, or any official representative. They were not based on any verified facts or credible source, and they should never have been presented as news.

“The false posts I published included: “Breaking News: ‘I will arrest anyone who calls Ozo my son. He is not my son. I disowned him years ago, and he is no longer a member of the Soludo family.’”

Among the claims he retracted was a fabricated statement alleging that Governor Soludo had disowned his son, Ozonna.

He also admitted inventing quotes falsely attributed to Ozonna concerning his father and other public figures.

Mr Ofoegbu said he created the content to attract online engagement and generate revenue on social media.

He expressed regret over his actions and pledged to publish retractions on the platforms where the videos were shared.
