To answer few questions that I see here;
- Yes, you can apply even when your resumption date is far. IRCC won’t delay your application for those resuming earlier, so go ahead and submit your application.

- No, having a sibling in Canada doesn’t reduce your chance. I am the 4th child of 4. The other 3 are in Canada. Yes, I am single but I used my previous Canadian visitor visa as a tie. I got a visitor visa to visit them last year and I spent 3 weeks, and with a good sop, I guess I was able to convince the officer that I won’t overstay.

- Yes, you can do it yourself.

Well, this doesn’t seem like a wise decision. Why are willing to study in a private college with prior notice that the program doesn’t qualify for a postgraduate work permit. Seems like waste of time and money. Well, is there a particular reason for that?

When you eventually apply to a public college, you get a 1 year pgwp which may not be sufficient for your PR processing.

There is no problem with that. I had the same issue.

Applied to cic with humber college letter, later changed to George brown college when Humber resumed. Got my visa.

I later applied to Conestoga College when I got a better course. Changed the school at POE.

I was asked why I changed my school....and I told the officer I got a better course and she smiled.

How do I go about effecting this change to my application. A friend says I could go ahead and effect change when I get to the POE..

Working or studying in Canada

Most visitors to Canada cannot work or study in Canada without a permit.

If you are visiting Canada and you want to work or study, you have a few options if you still have legal status in Canada.

For a new work permit, you can apply:
•from your home country or another country where you are lawfully admitted. Follow the instructions on how to apply for a work permit, or
•in person or by mail at the Visa Application centre in New York.

For a new study permit, you can apply:
•from your home country or another country where you are lawfully admitted. Follow the instructions on how to apply for a study permit, or
•in person or by mail at the Visa Application Centre in Los Angeles.

Just submit your study permit application with required documents, and you are back in Canada again...#smiles. All the best.

I am not sure if I have someone with similar case in the house but I'll still like to ask the family. Ive been to Canada as a visitor and now looking forward to apply for a study permit in the same country. What are my chances of getting an approval? I still have a valid ca visitor visa though.

You are not alone....my spouse applied online for SOWP with upfront medical - September 18, biometric - Sept 22 and we are yet to receive any response since then...just relax and pray.

I am presently in Canada as a student. Taking my second program, a graduate from the first. My wife applied for visit in February and was denied. Now she applied for Spousal Open Work Permit

Application online: 21st September
Biometrics completed: 23rd September

Till now, no information from CIC yet.

Please if you have any idea or similar issues help me out, am restless and nervous.

If you start your uni application process now, u won't get your admission letter to apply for study visa until march/April.

Hi guys, I did my medicals with IOM on the 10th september and communicated with them some days later and was told the report has been sent to CIC on the 15th. However, till date I haven't heard from CIC which got me confused if I passed or not.

From the trend on here it seems like folks do get medical passed alert from CIC after two days. Any suggestions pls....

Hi friends, good day. I need anyone's experience in my shoe..

I got my Canada study visa last year but couldn't travel due to some personal reasons. my visa expires by June 30, 2015 and I will be travelling for my study by May 1, 2015. my flight reservation officer is saying I have to book for round-trip, instead of one-way because the visa is no more valid for one year.

I will be doing that this week, but I need your advice.

A spouse of student on study visa is eligible to apply for a spousal open work permit visa.

It can be done at the same time but you need to be careful.

Therre was proof of adequate fund. Also, you have to be careful selecting ur sponsor
