Team A is still working on modalities on how to transport him from eruwa. We are trying to get ambulances that can be of help as transporting him through a public park bus/car might be risky considering the rigors of lagos ibadan expressway.
We have also established contact with Reddington and the kidney unit and we will furnish the house with our report on that later.

Also see if you can get a "second opinion" from the receiving Doctors of whatever hospital he ends up in. This would help reduce costs, make sure he would not be subject to further blood tests he has already done and would reduce his risk from radiation from the imaging equipments...

All I was saying is that with the two differential diagnoses on the ground from two separate Clinicians, a final diagnosis/third opinion needs to be in place with the stage and percentage of the conditions would be known, so that any red flag, false alarm, false hopes, contraindication, comorbidity, etc could be ascertained/explored...so the urgent patient care management the OP needs could kick in ASAP...and so that people would know what they are donating for...

This is a clear disparity that needs to be addressed surely, incase anything else is being missed out...

This is a life and death matter here...All DJDOLA needs is a credible Doctor/Hospital and for him to survive this ordeal first, so anybody that knows what help to render should do so, instead of repeating ad nauseum that TEHN woulda done this or that...


Once the OP's health has been stabilised and he has been given a clean bill of health, then people with an axe to grind with Seun can state their concerns/frustration...This is not the thread to roast Seun alive.

And we have to be careful we don't frustrate those already helping as they are trying their best too. Thanks.

Yes. I have also made some calls. We have to move him to UCH. The doctor said his kidney is badly affected. The good news is that the fluid has been drained so his stomach is flat now. The doctor mentioned he can relieve the symptoms. But I suggest we move him to UCH.

Have the Radiographers, blood bank, etc at UCH resumed from their strike?

We don't have any new medical case that we are working on but of course we are always happy to help if and when needed.
We will look at ways on how to assist with this case as a matter of urgency if needed

Obviously the diagnosis on the ground is bigger than what the Doctor Egunjobi originally suspected, hence reason for her comment for donations to continue. This is enough info for the house IMHO.

They handled Folakes case, kept donors informed, ensured she had what she needed and even when she died used the rest of the money to help the family set up.

I am hopeful, very hopeful it won't be as scary as some are making it seem. Its possible sef that the doctor who was handling him at LUTH is a student doctor sef. I don't think a specialist handled his case at LUTH. These student doctors can sabi know how to scare somebody. I choose to believe this because its calming to my soul.

I remember when I was ill and went to a hospital to run a malaria test some years ago and because I didn't want to self medicate, I asked not only to run malaria test but to see the doctor. The student doctor then took my BP and shouted chei! Just the shout alone could have killed me. Then again he told me " so you stay alone, better find somebody to be staying with you incase you have heart attack in the night. Your bp is very high 140/100 and something bad may happen to you when you are alone" (paraphrased). I didn't know a thing about BPs then and to be honest, I almost died. Lol. Anyway, the point is, some of these doctors know how to exaggerate a case. I pray that's how it is in this case and that our bros will be out of that place stronger.

There are different kinds of CLD, many of which do not require liver transplantation, so I believe DJDOLA would be fine. The Doctor that saw him at LUTH is a qualified Endocrinologist with a speciality in Diabetes. He was born in UK, trained in UK before relocating to Nigeria, so I guess he was working with what LUTH had...


Nigerian Health system is actually good because it is modelled on US style, whereby they run you through many tests at once to diagnose what the issue is, hence reason it is expensive. It's their over-medication I don't like. Unlike UK where they do diagnosis by exclusion, lol...unless you are nearly dead here, no matter what you have, na paracetamol you go get and the Doctor would have already written out the prescription before you finish stating your symptoms. After 2 weeks you get antibiotics, and the diagnosis no dey pass "it's a bug going round"...some people wait two weeks to get appointment to see GP, and it's not rare to spend years on waiting list to see a Specialist. Or is it the one that the qualified Doctors will be flipping through their book in front of the patient to narrow down the symptoms to a diagnosis. Our A&E nko, if you are seen within 10 hours, it's your lucky day, and don't be surprised to see yourself spending hours on a stretcher because there is no available bed. And just pray not to fall sick after 6pm and on weekends because na student Doctor go attend to you...and if it's a serious case, they have to start paging Doctors most of whom would not respond, so most time they have to fly in a Doctor from Europe which takes hours...and pray this Doctor speaks English...I hail NHS

The OP discharged himself from LUTH when he ran out of funds, came to NL to seek for N25k to go back to LUTH for further tests, instead got a lot of horror stories about LUTH, was told UCH and LASUTH are better...but the people in charge of imaging such as Radiographers, etc, have been on strike over two weeks meaning he would not be able to do scans, blood tests, etc...he asked over 20 times for referral elsewhere...got no cogent response because everyone was still brainstorming...


Reddington Hospital's name came up...but calls of "he shouldn't be at home/he should be on a ventilator/no hospital in Naija can handle this case/he has to travel to India tonight" drowned out this option...in the end DJDOLA out of fear opted for this Clinic at Eruwa...

If I am interviewed today and asked what mould of men I consider Nigerian enough to be married to if I wasn't married to my true Naija hubby of course , my first answer would be King Sango of the old Oyo Empire, he may have been arrogated all sorts of mythical powers but any man who could marry women as strong as Oba, Osun and Oya was no weakling and certainly didn't need to demand respect from his wives. From contemporary times, I can only think of the Late Rev. Oludotun Kuti, husband of Mrs Olufunmilayo Kuti and father of Olikoye, Fela and Beko Kuti. Rev Kuti in particular is ultra-special because he made all his marks in education while his wife Mrs Kuti was all about politics, a mean feat for their times. The other man that comes to mind is Dr Ekpo, the husband of Margaret Ekpo; in fact the history of NCNC as a political party would not be complete if the names of these two women’s were omitted, what Mrs Kuti did in the West, Mrs Ekpo did in the East. Two strong Nigerian men married them and did not stop them from achieving dreams; the fear of their wives stealing their thunder apparently did not come into play.

The history of Babangida’s regime as terrible as it was will not be complete without mentioning Maryam’s mark. She is behind the creation of the ‘Office of the first lady’, maybe someone here can convince me that Babangida simply could not control his wife. We can't possibly have forgotten Stella and Turai so soon; strong women even if their strength was to our detriment. I have heard many oral accounts of the rifts between Awo and Akintola being largely fuelled by their wives, might have been hearsay but mama HID and late Mrs Faderera Akintola were no pushovers even if the office first lady was non existent.

The truth is that Nigerian women have always been strong and independent even if there are good and bad kinds. That some women are all about money is not new, many of our musicians sang about it, I remember the apt descriptions of some women as a kid as being 'Olorunsogo' women, but the men who coined the that term also described their opposites as 'Surulere' women.

Has the world changed so much that some of our men only want ‘yes’ women as wives? So much so that strong women can only be described as rude and disrespectful. I can’t think of anywhere else where Nigerian women in particular are bashed as they are here on NL. Some of these men need to start taking responsibility for their behaviour. You are what you attract after all.

The prefix "chronic" does not mean a patient is at death's door and I claim this is not DJDOLA's portion in Jesus' name. "Chronic" in medical term means a condition that has lasted more than 6 months, whilst its "opposite" acute means something that started suddenly...

Some CLD don't need surgery, just medication or maybe a lifestyle change...so hopefully DJDOLA would be back on his feet before the end of this week in Jesus' name...

He "volunteered" SELF and TIME, which was all he had...That is a very commendable thing to do...Everybody on this thread have been giving either in cash or "kind" eg prayers, words of encouragement, someone even volunteered to use his own car earlier on this thread and only requested for fuel...so its not our place to knock back and dismiss ANY offer of help in a disdainful manner.


Besides whomever eventually gets this errand might still need a financial boost depending on where they are setting out from and how long their stay in ERUWA will be...

Update.

Test/Scan result is out. Can't remember what he called it. Something like CD abi CTD (no vex, I don forget). The doctor said he can treat him just as he has done with so many cases. Treatment starts fully tomorrow. The doctor told him not to pay a kobo until he has been fully treated. He said we should please let him remain there.

However, one of the volunteers together with Mynd (probably) will pay him a visit tomorrow so we can be double sure.

We all know how Nigeria is, and how wide the gulf is between the haves and the havenots...Someone on this same thread donated the last N100/N500 they had left on them to DJDOLA's cause, this money was meant to be for their feeding that night...
