pak: I've been in a similar situation. Don't challenge him, I'll advice you to schedule an appointment with him to explain your view point and your findings/conclusion.
That was exactly what I did in my own case. and the Pastor(we had a close relationship) also explained why he continued to preach the Tithe message. Though, I didn't fully agree but I understood his points (had to do with the level of spiritual maturity of his flock . . . .actually a topic for another day).


The issue is that, Tithing is not a Christian Practice. It was only obtainable in Judaism. If you doubt me, check through the new testament, if there was ever any verse advocating that Christians should Tithe. - None.

The only time Jesus talked about tithing was when he indicated that it was a less important issue in the Law (Judaism) - Matt 23v23.

Christians all through the new testament were only encouraged to give of their own freewill.

atbu1983: We should learn to differentiate between a smart student and a dubious student. Passing examination by mal practice is not a smart thing because almost evrybody can do it. These days most student do it and as such many student are dubious students. Most dubious student find it difficult getting a Job on thier own without external help from friends and families and as such most of them can only get average job. Smart students on the other hand are few. they dont rely on malparactice, but they know what to read, where to read and how to read to pass thier exam. Most smart student just go after the grade because they know whenever they need the concept after school, they can always sturdy the book again even five years after school. As a result they understand that passing thier exam is more important when they are in school. The brilliant ones spend much of thier energy reading and knowing what they dont need. Thus both the Smart and brilliant student get the big Jobs in multinationals where skilled and ability are the requirement. And also where who know man are minimal. But however the smart student are still more likely to succeed in difficult economy like nigeria.

Sleek05: I'm not surprised at all. I served in Enugu and stayed in d same compound with one guy who graduated from ESUT and was about 2 go 4 service. He could not construct a simple sentence. Anytym I spoke wit him, he replied in pidgin. Later, Nlanders wil abuse private unis. This is pathetic abeg, I'm sure it'l soon be tasued's turn. Those ones 2 are as bad, speakin English is a big problem 4dose ones 2.

caseless: we have the whole place littered with mr/ms 'know it all'. If some of those wanna-be english teachers had attended the kind of primary school some people on nl attended, i'm sure those 'NL' english teachers will not be able to write 'nairaland' ,not to talk of registering to become a member. Some that attended such pri skool are here trying their best and some kings college products are complaining. Rawbish!
