This is one of the few sensible post I have read on Nairaland lately.
I am simply appalled at how Nigerians have lost the ability to be analytical.

Someone somewhere is looking for that 10k to patent an idea so he can run with his vision which others with the money have not bought into.

Someone somewhere is begging relatives for the same 10k so they can start cooking and selling food but are being denied

Someone somewhere has been praying for help from any quarter to help his business grow to the next level and here is a life line and some jobless internet time wasting people who cannot even spare the same 10k are condemning a move that would help alleviate adverse conditions for 2 million WISE and INTELLIGENT Nigerians.

mumu, the whole country cannot be a petty trader, your stuppid logic of small businesses drive big businesses gave up your level of reasoning,

Let me lay it out to you,
The small businesses don't have issues in starting up their businesses but they won't go far because most of the buyers are unemployed which means debt or low patronage will kill the business.

When big industries are everywhere and most people are employed with good pay, the said employed people will have enough money to patronise the small businesses hence the petty trade market will boom because people are working and they have enough money to buy what they want.

How many millions of people has pass through NYSC with 19k and how has that helped them grow?

Now who is thinking upside down? The industrious China and US became developed with petty trades right?
The problem with you people is simply small mindedness.

When you begin to despise the days of your small beginnings that is when you begin to fail.

Go and read about how Oando began and bury your head in shame.

Many who are millionaires today began with little or next to nothing.

There was a story about a kerosene seller shared on nairaland some time ago and how she started off by selling bottles if kerosene and grew to gallons and today she owns her own petrol station and you sit there and condemn small beginnings.

Your growth will continue eluding you because its people like you that build castles in the air with no cash at hand and even when given 1 million you would still complain its too small as you squander it

That is where you are wrong. MAJORITY of the people IN THE MARKETS ARE PETTY TRADERS.

Many do not have access to loans to boost their businesses due to inability to provide collateral to.match such loans.

This is a life line to so many out there. 19k repayable in 6 months and then have access to 50k. Growing a business from scratch is possible and has been done all over the world (google is your friend)

How much less 10k to a trader? NA WAAH OH
I have never seen a group of people who lack the ability to understand whatever they read and who talk stupid like Nigerians.

The condition given for this loan is so cheap and so easy that its almost a give away.

10k repayable within 6 MONTHS and thereafter you qualify for 50k and all you can see is 10k.

This is called PETTY BUSINESS and this move is what is attainable in the business world.

The small businesses drive the big businesses same way you have streams emptying themselves in rivers and rivers into seas.

Even nature follows this simple method. Kill the small businesses and the big businesses die too. Encourage the small businesses and the big businesses thrive.

Under the scheme, beneficiaries can get access to a higher facility ranging from N15,000 to N50,000 when they repay N10,000 within the stipulated time period.

The goal of the Buhari Administration is to use the TraderMoni to take financial inclusion down to the grassroots, the bottom of the ladder, considering the contribution of petty traders to economic development. The Federal Government is also aware of the fact that many of the petty traders don’t have what the commercial banks require to grant them loans.

This administration is keen to ensure that such traders at that level are able to build their businesses and grow.

what you dont seem to understand is that your analysis above can only thrive in a friendly business economy with all the necessary infrastructures in place like regular power, security, good roads, goo taxation system for your information we have moved on, you can sit there in Nigeria waiting for handout from the govt to Nigerians without good business plans, after 6 months of this handout check the beneficiaries you will see the money is all gone.

I am not against the hand out but that is not the first thing for them to do, there is still need for a lot to done on the economy before this handout, i bet you the economy will swallow the handout and it will seems as if nothing was done in the first place
Not everyone needs regular power to run a small business on a micro level.

Only a fool would throw away encouragement being given to them and not utilize their chance

The Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) is to commence the implementation of a Rent-To-Own Housing Scheme.

This follows the approval of the plan that will provide affordable houses for Nigeria workers, by the board of the organization.

The FMBN Rent-to-Own scheme is an innovative, affordable housing product, which provides an easy and convenient payment plan towards home ownership for Nigerian workers, according to a statement by Spokesman of the organization Mr. Zubaida Umar.

He said: “The scheme is specifically designed to make it possible for Nigerian workers to move into FMBN homes as tenants, pay for and own the properties through monthly or yearly rent payments spread over periods of up to 30-years.

“It will also attract a single digit interest rate of nine per cent on the price of the property on an annuity basis. The product will cover properties with the maximum value of N15million.”

The rent-to-own housing product targets Nigerian workers who are contributors to the National Housing Fund (NHF) and will be implemented in phases. About 3,000 houses are planned for the pilot phase.

To deliver on the rent-to-own housing scheme, FMBN will partner with reputable estate developers for the construction of quality, cost-effective housing stock nationwide.

Payments for the houses will be domiciled with the CBN through the Treasury Single Account (TSA).

Properties that are planned for the rent-to-own scheme are Existing Estates that are funded by FMBN nationwide and non-funded estates.

Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of FMBN Dangiwa Ahmed said “the rent-to-own is yet another ground breaking initiative of the bank that is targeted at increasing access to affordable housing by Nigerian workers who fall into the low-medium income brackets.”

“The rent-to-own housing product is designed to make sure that any worker who collects a salary should be able to live in his own home and pay conveniently over periods as long as 30-years! This is a massive relief especially given how little workers earn. I am delighted that we have successfully added this product to the many other initiatives that we have made possible to make home ownership a lot easier for Nigerian workers”.

He added that the implementation of the scheme would eliminate the burden of equity contributions by workers for housing loans, complement the existing products of the bank by widening the home ownership bracket, increase housing stock, and help the bank to utilize abandoned estates that are to be transferred to the scheme.

The CEO commended President Muhammadu Buhari for his commitment to the development of housing and the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola for his continued support for the ongoing reforms to re-position FMBN on the path of efficiency and impact.

PDP made Nigerians poor through 16 years of looting and mismanagement.

Do you suffer from selective amnesia?

This government is rather trying to reverse that by encouraging business growth at every level and as indicated by the OP, this one is for the lowest levels of business owners.

10k well utilized and repaid gives them access to 50k and 50k well utilized and repaid can grow their business to the levels of 500k if not more.

I personally can attest to how I began my own business with less than 40k, 3 yrs ago and today its worth over 5m and growing and this happened all during PMBs tenure.

Create a niche for yourself in business, consistently stay on it and be dedicated and you can even grow from just an idea with zero capital into a millionaire when you can sell your idea to someone with the money you need to commence.
