"Hey Daddy!" Mirable ran to welcome Tien as soon as he stepped into the house. "How are you baby?" Tien forced himself to respond to his daughter as he dumps himself on the biggest cushion in the living room. Tien had a hectic day at work. He had attended to meetings and did all the leftovers of the previous day. "I am not fine daddy. My Nanny hit me today because I didn't cut the vegetables the right way," Mirabie reported. What! You mean Nanny hit you? And, wait" Turn tried to bend his ears as if something was going to fall from it. "Did you just say you cut vegetables?" "Vee! Vee!" Vee, Mirable's Nanny, who already knew what her boss was shouting her name for, ran out of the kitchen shaking. "Sir, welcome sir! She shivered as she moved closer to Tien. "What the heck happened in this house while I was away, Vee?" Tien questioned angrily. So, my daughter do the kitchen chores for you now, isn't it? Why would you tell her to cut vegetables for you? Really! And what right do you have to even hit her when she decides not to do whatever you wanted her to do for you? Very, are you out of your mind? Tien yelled rising to his feet. Vee, though terrified, controlled her emotions and responded to her boss, Tien calmly "No sir! Not at all. I did not ask her to do anything for me. Mirable has a cooking assign..." "That is a big lie Vee" Mirable suddenly interrupted Vee, who was trying to narrate what really happened to Tien. "I don't have any cooking assignment. She has called me a lazy ass just because I wanted to watch cartoons while she was trying to prepare dinner dad" Mirable knew Tien would listen to whatever she said since he loved her so much. She would not let Vee say anything. Very has been working with Tien ever since Mirable came to the house. Tien trusted her, he also knew that Very loved and cared for Mirable. But she would not want to praise her in the presence of Mirable so that Mirable would not feel bad about his father's judgement. "Now listen to me Vee, you are here to take care of my daughter and not to maltreat her. My Mirable is still very young to cut vegetables," Tien said throwing smiles at Mirable. "... and please never you hit her for any reason again, okay?" " Yes sir!" Vee replied, bowed to Tien with respect and left to the kitchen again. Tien loved Mirable so well. He has decided to take good care of her ever since he took her from her mom. Tien would do anything to make his daughter happy. "Here love, a got a big teddy bear for you. You told me you wanted the yellow one right? "Yes, daddy thank you!" Mirable jumped on her dad in excitement. She took the teddy bear and ran to her room, "Vee! Get my lunch ready in an hour's time, I wll freshen up now" Tien demanded, moving towards his room. Since Mirable came into Tien's life, she had been his only source of happiness. Tien was never married even though he was 39. He had fallen in love with a girl when he was 28 years, who in return broke his heart after 4 years of serious relationship. He had cut her cheating. Since then, he has been all alone. As a result of the broken heart, he would sometimes go out partying with friends. On his 34th birthday, after partying with friends, who got him drunk to stupor all night, he woke up the following morning, all to see himself half naked - he became even more shocked when Cardi, a lady he had detested all his life, came out from his bathroom in towel.Cardi was 27 years old woman as that that time. She had always wanted Tien by all means. She had always wanted Tien for his handsomeness and wealth. He had always regarded Tien as *a young billionaire* and that was one of the reasons Tien never wanted her. Tien also disliked her mischievous behavior. Cardi even smoked and did drugs "She is just not my type" was the expressionTien would always give anytime his friends talked about Cardi. On several occasions, she had tried to seduce Tien, but Tien would not give in. Even when he partied or went on hangout with his friends alongside Cardi, he was very cautious, less he fell prey of Cardi's mischief, and that of others that might have similar intentions. Tien would not sleep around with girls and he never smoked. He was so astonished to see Cardi that morning. "Of all the girls in the world, why would it be this b*tch? Damn! I'm messed up" he lamented after realizing what had happened to him. He had recollected that a lady brought him home the previous night because he was drunk; but he never remembered having sex with anyone. Cardi had taken advantage of her drunkenness. He flang himself up the bed, threatened Cardi not to make any sense of what she had done because he was not going to accept her no matter how hard she tried. He threw her bag at her, told her to dress herself up and leave his house as soon as possible. However, Cardi never regretted what she had done, she had always wanted it to happen. So she left Tien's house without any shame. Mission was accomplished. _________________________________ I hope you enjoy this episode. MY LOVE, MY BILLIONIARE (EPISODE ONE) "Oh no! What can I do now? I had my mechanic check it this morning, why is it not moving? I'm so late to work" Tien was not even halfway to work when his car stopped moving. He was not only furious about it but also because he had his mechanic check it the morning before he left to work, now he's stuck on the way. "What do I do now? This is so iritating!" He lamented. But then his eyes caught someone, a woman selling local sandwich on the side of the road. "Hello lady" he greeted. "Hi sir, do you want to buy some sandwiches sir? They are very nice. I have some nuts too," the lady asked. Obviously, she hasn't sold anything the whole morning. "Hmm, not really! Please do you know a place I can find a mechanic? My car just broke down and I'm very late to work." he explained. "Oh, is that? Sorry about that. There isn't any mechanic around. The few local mechanics I know are not out yet, even if they were, am sure they can't repair big cars like yours sir" the lady tried to explain. "Oh no! But I really need to be at work now. Anyways, thanks a lot for the help" he said and turned to leave. He has taken only a few steps away when he turned round again to return to the lady's location. "Oh no! What does he wants again? There's no mechanic around'' the lady who saw the look on his face thought to herself. He looked like he forgot something. "Uhmm! lady, how much are your sandwiches? "He asked. "Uhm, they are $2 each sir! She replied rather surprised. She actually thought he was coming back to ask of mechanics. "Ok can I'll get 10 of them?" He asked "Yes, that will be $20" the lady said, preparing to tie up the sandwiches. "Ok, get them ready and bring them to the car please so I can pay you." He said and left to where his car was. The young lady who looked 20 years tied the sancwiches, packaged them and hurried after Tien. Tien got to his car, entered and opened his wallet which was in the car. "By the way, here is a very lonely place. How do you get people to buy your sandwiches?" He asked wandering how she managed to sell the sandwiches while not even a person appeared since his car broke down. "Well, all I need is to sell enough to buy food for my kids - that's all that matters." She replied with her face down. She appeared pitiable. I have sometimes corrected this but let me repeat it for emphasis sake. There is nothing like *Point of correction, I am not your friend*Why? - when you mean to bring someone to order by correcting what he or she has said, you do not say What you should say is: Point of order, I am not your friend Taken? Do you know it is wrong to say: Emmanuel, call me that boy/that bikeman/Israel Why? - when you mean to call the attention of someone, a taxi, a motorcycle or something, you don't express it in such way that has been exemplified above. Ideally, what the above sentence means is Emmanuel, from today you should call my name *that boy/that bikeman/Israel.* An error-free expression should be: Emmanuel call that boy/that bikeman/Israel for me*_Join the over 200 BYC scholars on whatsapp, it doesn't cost you anything. I will like to explain two things very briefly her 1. Those of you that say this should know from now on that it is wrong! Let me crack my brain to rememberWhy? – This is because our brains are not walls that crack or jokes . I am going to show you the dictionary meanings of the word crack so as to verify the correctness of its use. Crack can be used as a noun to mean: a. a line on the surface of something along which it has split without breaking apart.
Crack can be used as a verb to mean:However, the correct expression should be: rack one’s brain. So please correct this from now on! Okay? 2. It is Business card and not complimentary card. Note the spelling too: Comp *le* mentary not comp *li* mentary I think people get it wrong because it sounds the same way. As an adjective * something acting as or providing a complement (something that completes the whole) [Syn: complemental, completing] * of words or propositions so related that each is the negation of the other; e.g. “Male and female are complementary terms” As a Noun * either one of two chromatic colours that when mixed together give white ( in the case of lights) or gray (in the case of pigments); e.g. "Yellow and blue are complementaries" [Synonym: complementary colour] Join my Whatsapp Night Class for more of these interesting explanations for free. it is an everyday learning process. Let me quickly remind us these little things! Late Mrs or Mr or Chief or Doctor followed by the name of such person without the definite article the coming before it, is wrong. It should be: The late Mrs or Mr or Chief or Doctor Musa Joseph Ogunlade was from that lineage too. My mum gave us another money for miscellaneous is wrong because of the use of the adjective another. This is because money is an uncountable noun and the adjective another can only be used with singular countable nouns. So, using the two words together in the same sentence will definitely harm such sentence. The correct sentence should be: My mum gave us more money for miscellaneousHave you been looking for way to better your spoken and written English? Confused verbs are called so because they are used confusedly. Some of the verbs we use in English are often used confusedly most especially by speakers or users of English as second language. Many of these confusing verbs come in pairs and you do not know which one is right for the action taking place or that has taken place. Let us examine some of the confused verbs here: ➤ BREAK AND SPOIL Example in Sentence: My phone fell into the hot water and now is spoiled. Explanation: Spoil as a verb is mostly used with an abstract object (as proved by various lexicons.) Hence, one can say: ⏩ The boy has spoiled the good reputations his father has built for years. In instances like “Spare the rod and spoil the child” and “Too many cooks spoil the broth” respectively, the ideas addressed with the verb spoil in the expressions are unambiguously abstract. In the former, the character of the child is the abstract noun addressed not the child as a person, likewise in the latter, the taste of the broth is said to be spoiled and not the broth. Note: A broth is a light or thin soup of meat or fish or vegetable stockOther example of things that spoil is fruit. HOW IS THIS? Fruit can get spoiled by the heat from the sun. (However, it is concrete) Break on the other hand, when used as a verb is mostly used with a concrete object. For instance, we can say: The boy broke my penOR My television set is broken Summarily, a concrete object breaks or goes out of order while an abstract object only spoils. The sample sentence should thus be rewritten as: My phone fell into the hot water and now is broken or out of order. Confucius said: If the language is not correct, then what is said is not what is meant; if what is said is not what is meant, then what ought to be done remains undone; if this remains undone, morals and arts deteriorate; if morals and arts deteriorate, justice goes astray; if justice goes astray, the people will stand about in helpless confusion. Hence, there must be no arbitrariness in what is said. This matters above everything. Reading this and relating it to the position at which communicating in the English Language is in Nigeria today, I am convinced beyond measures that taking up this burden is a good way of helping people make effective understanding a reality through learning how to use the accurate speech and writing. A good knowledge of English opens the door to education, skilled jobs, positions in commercial establishments and the civil service; it is, in fact, often a guarantee of social status says _Thomas Kellaghan_.That is why I am interested in helping you BETTER YOUR CONVERSATION BYC_TV is a channel that doesn't consume your data or leaves you with many messages.
