freeman67: With primary if you tick reinvestment auction, you don get to loose a day... It will be reinvested at the prevailing market rate automatically...
Also if you have up to the CBN minimum amount of 50m you can bid for yourself and probably get a better rate than the banks sometimes.
When the rate was stable at 18% and above for 364days the primary market was always better because even if you went to invest a day after...they'll always give you something a lil lower.
It looks more attractive now because the rate @ the primary is falling..what they are selling at secondary market now is what was bought at higher earlier in the secondary market. So it just a matter of timing. I see. I appreciate the break down. Now I understand better. |

amjustme2: Secondary Market becoming more profitable nowadays
I think Banks are selling of old subscriptions or more people are coming forward to liquidate. I could be wrong though! Either way, rates will soon caught up with Primary market realities, lol what's your point. secondary has always been better. I just wondered why people always form sharp and informed chasing after primaries. I don't stress myself looking out for dates. I just go, ask for available secondary options and invest. today I simply got 16% for 100 days primary probably good for the big multimillion boys/group of boys. |

maryjay99: Pls has anyone liquidate a Tb before the maturity date. How is the percentage of the interests that one will forfeit calculated & what is the penalty.
This is because I did a Tb of 2m for 180 days @ 13% rate & which is to mature on 3rd Nov but I liquidated on 24th Oct just 10 days remaining but 61k was deducted from the principal amt . I feel the deduction is too much or is it ok from anyone's experience. na wa o. so six months ago you did 2m @13% for 180 days kaii now they deducted more than half the amount for the remaining 10days shuooo am I sure something isn't well |

adetumi: Hello Gurus in the house, I applied for TB with FBN on Monday and my whole money was deducted 5minutes later after I got a text message stating that it was deducted for TB. I was initially confused because that was the first time doing TB with FBN based on advice from this platform. I have been using GTB which would only deduct the money on Thursday and will leave the interest behind, so this was strange to me at FBN but I thought it was their style but till now I have not received any other message and no interest dropped and while filling the form I ticked that my interest should be paid upfront. I am confused, can someone please help out, or let me know if you are having the same experience please. Thank you check your balance. Fbn is not Gtb. |

Is this for the primary or secondary market?
Just checked out the site but realise that the interest rates were not stated, only the volume and dates were presented. it's a schedule. rates are determined after bidding |

question: Hello Tbills gurus, I have a concern. I did a 1-year Tbills (Secondary market) investment with GTbank about 2 months ago. They debited my account minus the interest and I saw the Tbills investment reflected in my online account profile. But 1 month ago, they created my account as if the investment has matured and debited it again same day. From then on, I didnt see the Tbills investment in my account again. I was worried as this was quite unusual. I have asked and they said that I should not worry that it is a problem with their internet platform to be fixed soon. Till today I have not seen the investment in my account. I know something is not right somewhere within the bank. Has anyone experienced this kind of tbills problem with any nigerian bank?
This is why I don't trust secondary market t-bills. The bank can play games with your money. see the way you're panicking. How can you speak of 1 year in secondary market? It is surely a combination of different tenures. That is what you are experiencing. You don't understand a game and you are playing it hard |

chukzyfcbb: well maybe the Volume/amount offered hasn't been fully consumed by investors, I too still awaits the paid up interest from first bank done two days ago (secondary) Also this is the first time too I am experiencing this from fBN but I am still calm. So chill, today should be the day the volume will be fully absorbed have you checked your balance? |
Investment › Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by C4Ltd: 4:05pm On Aug 18, 2017 |
chukzyfcbb: Thanks for that screenshot, From what I can see the rates in the primary market is lower than what first bank offered. Offering 17.35 when fbn offered 17.5 for 155 & 190days, so it should have been swallowed up fast since its a better option. Well l don't know what else could be delaying. Except the money has been paid and no credit alert came forth, because it happened last week. Upon maturity, i received no alerts but the funds was there. Had to go to the bank to check the balance. That may just be the problem again Thanks sorry what are you going on about? You got credited but no alert... is there something else you're trying to say |

Investment › Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by C4Ltd: 3:25pm On Aug 16, 2017 |
freeman67: In banks/investment houses that are their own custodian like FBN, you can roll over your TB for same tenure though @ the prevailing market rate.. Meaning you can do either 91,182 or 364 day investment and direct them to rollover @ maturity. The benefit of this is that: 1) you will not loose one day in between maturity date and new reinvestment date if you are OK with the rate. 2) it helps in compounding interest for those who wish to by instructing them to rollover with interest thereby saving the time and energy for calculation and writing new request for reinvestment of interest.
Also, before the CBN 50M policy, Knowledgeable investors could bid for themselves. Infact their bids sometime get more successful ahead of the Bank's through which they invest. Some peoples investment is targeted @ achieving the whole tenure...in the secondary market it difficult to get a complete tenure especially for 364. I see thanks |

RealityShot: STICK with IBTC or First Bank
Always ask for the person in charge of TBills at the branch at the customer care desk.
ask for the form if you are ready..or ask to know the available secondary mkt deals
dont act like you are ignorant or they will SLICE YOU! And sell you their old deadly Tbills at meagre rates
THE TOTAL CHARGES are in the range of 0.5-1.5% of the interest YOU MAKE. Not On your CAPITAL. what do you mean by slicing with old deadly meagre rates? The rates are based on history. The fbn tbills guy simply said based on last bidding, 91 days was about 13.%. what more caution is there? Or are you at the level of 50m and above |

zinnella: I ve been following this thread for somedays now and decided to invest. Bankers played alot of pranks on me to do FD including giving me a FD form in place of T-bill form. But i overcame them. They informed me today that the max for 91days is 13‰, is that correct? Should i go for it? same here o. They kept posting me saying I should do fd. I went today too. 13% 91 days. Two banks confirmed last bid was about 13% for 91 days tenor. so go ahead. I've applied already |
