Yes they are also human but allegedly called by God so are held to a higher standard in their behaviour.
I feel it is very hurtful to tell ask to keep their marital affairs from a third person you don’t know all the details of what she was passing through that dragged her there.Would it have been better to run to in-laws who will escalate the matter?.then adding forget and move on.

Forgive yes but forget how when damage has been done.

If one doesn't have wise counsellors in their family, they should seek the help of paid marriage counseling.

A church is meant for you to go worship your creator, not to worship a pastor who possibly committed adultery the previous night.

Pastors are humans like us, flesh and blood. There is nothing special about them and you already have greater spiritual values/qualities than they do except for the conman qualities.

Worship God the way you should and he/she will speak to you in the same way as your pastor.

Even my mother was advised by church elders when she was passing through maltreatment from my father, that was cherubim and seraphim, the church was a place to run to for comfort, advice and many more, nobody is a graduate in d institute of marriage, have u been the one managing my marriage, or u didn't read where I wrote I went to pray at the alter before he called me and started counseling me, even old people seek counsel

See the response you gave here to this wonderful advice?
You are already doing 200km/hr on the wrong path and it would take a great deal of wisdom to save your marriage.

Thank u dear

Discussed with your husband that his secrets are now in the open and that everyone in the church even sees him as a wife-flogger (even when you said he didn't do such) grin

Changing churches should be the least of your problems.
Your husband might want to be a gentleman and try to forget about it but the devil works in mysterious ways.
He might have a quarrel with someone you never expected and the person will use this to insult him. Then he will remember you are the cause of it and come back to you.

For how long it continues, only God can tell.

Thank you dear, I have forgiven him in my heart, let God be the judge

Everything has been said about you and your pastor but no one has said anything about the individual that the image tarnishing affected: Your Husband.
Am I surprised, No. It the usual way of our people and their myopic thoughts.
In all these, your husband feelings has been ignored in your actions and you do not yet see that your marriage might be gone with this situation.
For no reason of his, the world now sees him in a bad light for a crime he never committed, and you trivially think your marriage is safe angry
He might not say anything today but note this post: this might be the crack that ends your marriage in the future.
Can I advise you on what you should do? Not at all as every man has a different way of handling such issues.

But if I were your husband, I would keenly watch you without saying anything and see what you do to resolve this. How you resolve it would determine the future fate of the union.

This is a true life story and it's really a long epistle, so take your time to read it. Insults and advice are welcomed as well.

There is this girl we're dating in Nigeria, which I intend to Marry though eventually. It started that I got my student visa in Nov 2021, so instead of me coming alone and leaving her alone back home, I decided to get Married to her same Nov 2021 and same year I did my house warming, that was in December. So she moved in to my house and I traveled for my Masters in January 2022.

So I came in alone to put everything in place, renting apartment and starting my studies. It was really an heculeous task, my eyes see shege as I was unable to pass through verification / affordability check, so I had to offer 6 month upfront before I was later considered. By end of January, she started with she is feeling lonely and can't stay alone in the house, so I started processing her visa February and I went back to Nigeria during Easter to bring her myself, just to avoid unnecessary wàhálà at the POE.

What has happened cannot be changed but if I were you, I would cut my losses and move on.

As for the international scene, everyone in the finance sector has been expecting the events happening at the moment.

We even expected it as early as December/January, but nothing happened which made some to start speculating about a possible softlanding.

Its effects has already been planned for and most financial institutions already insulated themselves and prepared for it. You can't fight the type of inflation we are experiencing and not sacrifice some pawns.

The west needs a recession to correct things and everyone is still expecting a big one. But the job market and other metrics are still staying strong.

It remains to be seen if the so-called soft landing will happen but whatever happens in the west will have little to no effect in the Nigerian economy as it is in a world of its own.

The negative factors staring at the banks at this time is too many.
Most of them own the junk bonds from Ghana.
Their Q4'22 and Q1'23 is going to be messed up due to emefiele's cashless policy.
Also, Nigeria's recent junk status rating is going to trickle down to them as they also own FG bonds and the outcome of the election is just waiting by the side.
I see ZB and GTCO doing N15 again soon with ZB even worse due to the ongoing board management fight and its holdco reconfiguration.

Sad to watch.

What did he do? His actions here are very calculated. He's not angry or even emotional. He's recording her and saying exactly what he wants the people watching the video to hear. That's not the typical reaction of an innocent black man. He clearly seeks the sympathy of the biased African demography. The lady on the other is very upset and couldn't care less about sounding nice or pleasing anyone at the moment. That's someone who's been hurt.

Before y'all come for me, please know that no woman has the right to wake up and kick her partner out of thier house just like that. They pay the rent/mortgage together, and the lady has just as much right as the man (it's not like Africa where the man is the only source of income in many homes). To kick one partner out of the house, you must obtain a legal permission for that. Such permissions are given on the ground of abuse, cheating, etc. So whenever you see a man leaving the house for a woman without making a fuss, he must have done something that he wouldn't want to get to court. So they just give in at the moment and resort to reasoning afterwards or, like in this case, appeal to public sympathy.

I see how this video can be triggering to Nigerians who are used to having it the other way round. Y'all forget that men throw women out of the house everyday in Nigeria and nobody makes a big deal about it. The logic is, it is his house. So going by that same logic, when it is not just his house anymore, it makes sense that he becomes just as accountable as the woman.

I wish them peace!

ICAN is never overrated . I’m a qualified member. I qualified two years ago but I did my induction last month after meeting the 36 months of experience for accounting graduate . I’m the 3rd person in my family to hold such certification and it’s not ending there as I’m currently preparing for CISA & CIA exams. What will make you stand out despite having ICAN is continuous personal development . You need to keep abreast with latest in the industry. Up skilling and up skilling is a must .

Despite the number of people that keeps writing and passing ICAN exams,we don’t have up 70k ACAs in this country . Even before my induction this year ,I got over 4 mouth watering offers that I have to sit down and pick the best and turn down the rest . I still got a call from the head of Internal audit of one of those firm asking me if I would still love to join them if they review the benefits upward . As a young ACA ,the opportunities are quite enormous if only you see the bigger picture . I have friends that have gotten a good job in Uk,Canada,Us and Netherlands just because of their experience and ACA. They got relocated and the companies paid for their visa and flight including their immediate family .

People that don’t have such certificate see it as nothing but people that have such see it as something because they know what it takes to have ACA at the back of your name . You can’t work in the big 4 like PwC,Deloitte,Kpmg and EY without having to back up your first degree certificate with a professional certification like ICAN/ACCA.

ICAN exam is never easy but with the right preparation and mind set you’ll surely pass if you know what you are doing . My little bro recently wrote 5 papers in skills level of the exam and passed 4 and he’s on his way completing the rest of his papers .

Cheers to your success !

Na all this lies dey make people dey waste money for ICAN so.

Which Canada?

Have you seen a Canadian Visa before?

Just talk wetin you know and stop glorifying your worthless paper.

Good day fellas!!

Early this morning I log into my LinkedIn account and on my newsfeed I saw series of congratulatory messages and inspiring quotes from peeps on the ICAN results that just got released...

Although, I was happy for them, at least it’s time to enjoy the reward of their handwork and investment paid off...but while on this, my mind was troubled not for bad reasons though, but in that the number of graduating chartered accountant are way high in there numbers and some student still in school are veering to get chartered as well...with this in mind I began to question myself if ICAN as it is today is still worth it or just overrated given the basic law of demand and supply...more chartered accountant plunging into the system with few but highly competitive job around..what does the future hold for this peeps......

Conversely, began to notice that most people who became chartered and those who are one day looking forward to be one are doing for The grams, to feel among, to impress friends and family that they are smart as most saw that only a genius can pass the exam according to them....

The craze to feel counted and ego boosted( not all though) has made the profession too saturated leading most accountant unemployed or underpaid( the ones who saw it as their career life goals)....

With this in mind is the ICAN journey a worthy to embark on( for who who are yet to, myself inclusive) or is it just overrated...

Ps on the level of difficulty attach to the exam how true is it.. for those who has written... I have seen and come across peeps who brag about its difficulty in a bid to make themselves special and downplay the efforts of others who had failed in the exam... this is particularly common among the current crop of ACA...

It there a secret or special kind of strategy and approach one need to know or failed to know that makes the ICAN look as if it’s only surmountable by the genius alone....

I come in peace......

It is a highly over-rated exam and only for ego-tripping purposes.

Most tellers in the banks are ACA

I also know a few POS operators who are ACA

The funny thing is that if you ever decide to leave Nigeria, the moment you board your plane, the certificate becomes a worthless paper.

ACCA will pity you and say you should go and write 4 exams, do their PER and complete an online learning.

CPA will make you rewrite almost all their exams and spend close to $13,000.

Most Fellows I know here has even forgotten they ever got ACA and are now battling CPA

In a nutshell, ICAN is now as useless as COREN and other professional certificates in naija.

Its just a waste of money and time just to impress family and friends grin

By d way, market efficiency theory has been debunked several times, it is the inefficiencies in the market that give rise to alpha(excess returns).

The arguments against it have never been validated and have always ended up validating it the more. They are called market anomalies (research on it).

Lately I have been applying some simple stats to my stock analysis, parameters like mean and standard deviation. Hehe, bollinger bands comes to mind.

Despite the fact that stock prices (also stock returns) are time series, they can be analysed statistically as distribution of values with good predictive success.

I came across a post on tradingview that discussed a few stats terms in very simple language. Read d excerpt below. Enjoy. cheesy

Mean:

The first Raw Moment is the Mean. It indicates the central tendency of a distribution. People talk about the Mean a lot in trading when referring to moving averages and mean reversion. But when we talk about the mean in our previous scripts, we are talking about the mean of returns. So when indicators like the Hurst Exponent , Durbin Watson Stats or Variance Ratio Test show negative autocorrelation, which implies mean reversion, the mean we are refering to is the Mean of returns, not the Mean of price. When they target the mean to revert, they shouldn't be targeting the SMA of price. They should target the returns to the mean of returns. People usually use the mean of returns as an expected value of stock returns. They find the average for past performance and using that to get an idea of where the share price might go next.

Variance:

The second Central Moment is the Variance. It indicates the spread of data around the Mean. People usually use Variance or the square root of Variance, which is the standard deviation to measure volatility . They sometimes define risk as the standard deviation of returns. While it may not be a measurement of risk (as we will explain later), it's a decent measurement of volatility . Since it's squared deviation from the Mean (second moment), the value is always positive, and power makes the smaller deviation smaller and the larger deviation larger. We should use sample variance and standard deviation, as I mentioned before. The difference is just divided by n or n -1.

Skewness:

The third Standardized Moment is Skewness. It measures the asymmetry of the distribution. The reason why it's called standardized moments is that it not only raised the deviation to the power of three in the nominator, it divides the standard deviation to the power of three to standardize the value. It's easier to compare the value of skewness with other distributions when it's standardized. The formula I just described is for population skewness. For sample skewness, it has to adjust the degrees of freedom to make it unbiased, which you can see in the code.

When skewness is 0, the distribution is perfectly symmetric. A normal distribution has a skewness of 0. (any symmetric distribution has a skewness of 0). But as you can see from the distribution chart, the returns are not perfectly symmetric. An easy way to know if the distribution is positively skewed (skewed right) or negatively skewed (skewed left) is by looking at its tails.
If extreme values happen more in the left tail, then it's left-skewed (longer left tail).
If the extreme value happens more in the right tail, then it's right-skewed (longer right tail).
A right-skewed distribution means there are more very large positive returns than negative returns in the sample. And left-skewed means there are more very large negative returns than positive returns in the sample.

Returns are more often negatively skewed because the market usually sell-off faster due to panic.

Kurtosis:

The fourth Standardize Moment is Kurtosis . It measures the "tailedness" in the distribution. As I mentioned in the skewness calculation, it also divides the fourth power of deviation by the fourth power of standard deviation to standardize the value. And it requires even more adjustments to degrees of freedom in order to make it unbiased for sample kurtosis .

The kurtosis value we display here is the excess kurtosis. The normal distribution has a kurtosis of 3. The excess kurtosis = kurtosis - 3.
When excess kurtosis is around 0, it has the same tail as normal distribution, and it's called Mesokurtic.
When excess kurtosis > 0, It has a fatter tail than normal distribution, and it's called Leptokurtic. There are more extremely large returns in the tails.
When excess kurtosis < 0. It has a thinner tail than the normal distribution, and it's called platykurtic. There are fewer extremely large returns in the tails.
Kurtosis doesn't have an upper bound, and the most platykurtic distribution is Bernoulli distribution with ex. kurtosis of -2. (even though the least platykurtic distribution kurtosis is -2, you can still get a value lower than -2 when you measure sample kurtosis .)
Kurtosis is sometimes referred to as volatility of volatility . It measures the tail risk or sometimes called kurtosis risk. Because a lot of statistical models assume a normal distribution, and when there's positive kurtosis , then they will underestimate the risk of fat tails. Market returns are usually leptokurtic due to volatility clustering (smaller returns cluster with smaller returns makes a higher peak, and extreme returns clusters make fatter tails). The kurtosis risk cannot be explained by variance or standard deviation because higher moments cannot be explained by lower moments. There can be two data sets with the same variance but different kurtosis . Therefore kurtosis explains more potential risk than the variance.

There's a misconception about kurtosis . Many people think kurtosis measures the peakedness of a distribution. However, this is NOT the case. There are examples of distribution that has a lower peak than normal distribution but has higher kurtosis . In general, kurtosis measures mostly the tail of the distribution. It uses the fourth power in the calculation. Therefore a large value in the tail has much more effect on kurtosis than the small value in the middle.

#Systematic Trader grin grin

Na Nigerian market you dey post all this long grammar for bah? grin grin grin

E be like you newly register for CFA, so body still dey shack you. You go soon calm down when NSE do you strong thing grin

Go and read up market efficiency theory. I will summarize it for you.

1 Weak form efficient market - NSE belongs here.
In such markets, fundamental analysis and insider information are very useful, but technical analysis is USELESS.

2. Semi-strong form efficient markets - fundamental analysis becomes useless in addition to technical analysis.

3. Strong form efficient markets - insider information also becomes useless.

In NSE, one MD can scatter the chart you are using overnight, by arbitrarily reducing or not paying dividend, even with big profit declared (e.g UBA). This is the least of what can happen to you in NSE.
Wale Tinubu and others are on another level grin

So leave big grammar, deal with the price and volume information that is available to you as an outsider, and pray for luck.

No western investment strategy can work effectively in NSE as it is a field, filled with lawless wolves undecided

And by the way, NSE has zero in fundamental analysis as the root metric which is good corporate governance in the constituent companies is highly lacking. So every other thing that looks like fundamental is Zero.
