All well meaning Igbos should support a strategic and proportionate response to the intimidation by the NA and NP , but it should never deteriorate to where we are today.

Besides, and forgive me for saying this, most of the people attacking the police and police stations might be armed robbers, cultists, kidnappers etc.

Farouk Yahaya, the new Chief Of Army Staff (COAS) has been told to continue dreaming about his recent proclamation that the Nigerian Army under him will win all its battles.


In a statement by Mohammed Yerima, spokesman of the Army on Monday, the COAS boasted that under his leadership, the military will win all its battles.

“On his mission, the COAS said he will command the NA to win all land battles in defence of the territorial integrity of Nigeria, protect her national interests and accomplish assigned tasks in aid of civil authority among other responsibilities,” Mr Yerima quoted his boss as saying while addressing the leadership of the Army in Abuja.

Disagreeing with the new COAS assertion is Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) who urged the army boss to continue in his dream.

The secessionist leader who made the remarks on Twitter Tuesday afternoon said even armies of advanced countries have never achieved such a feat and Yahaya won’t be an exception.


Mr Kanu, who escaped being murdered by personnel of the army when the military stormed his Afaraukwu residence in Abia in 2017, also described the comment of the army chief as a silly talk.

“This is the sort of silly talk that can only come from a quota General of a #Zoo army,” the IPOB official said. “From recorded History, no Army won ALL its battles, not even the mighty armies like Roman, Soviet & American. Dream on.”

In the South-East and South-South geo-political zones, killing of security personnel and razing down of their facilities has been on the rise with operatives of the Eastern Security Network (ESN) formed by IPOB fingered.

The group has denied the repeated claims of the police, saying they are only chasing out violent herdsmen residing across forest reserves in the former eastern region.

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has warned Northerners against travelling to the South-East geo-political zone.


The travel advisory is contained in a statement by Audu Ogbeh, national chairman of the Northern-based group on Monday in reaction to the assassination of Ahmed Gulak, a former presidential aide.

It also described as worrisome the turnout of events in the Igbo predominantly area.

“Yesterday, Sunday 30th May, 2021, one of leaders in the north was brutally murdered on the streets of Owerri Imo State by gunmen, most likely of IPOB and Eastern Security Network (ESN), who have been waging a public campaign of killings and other forms of brutalities, to realise their dream country of Biafra,” the group said.

“The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) hereby issues a very strong advisory to all northerners who may wish to travel to the South East to weigh the importance and necessity of such travels.


“Unless such trips are absolutely necessary and of compelling nature, like matters of life and death, they should NOT be made. And where the trip must be undertaken, the traveller should take every security precaution in his or her movements while there, including linking with the security agencies at the place/places to be visited.

“The need to issue this travel advisory has become necessary against the backdrop of history, wherein events such as the killings of northern leaders in 1966 triggered the events that led to a civil war that cost the country thousands of lives, and an untold sufferings to millions of innocent people. To be forewarned is to be forearmed, and a stich in time saves nine!

“The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) also wishes to call, with the strongest voice, on the Security Agencies to do everything possible to apprehend those who assassinated Alh. (Barr) Ahmed Gulak in cold blood and bring them to justice.

“The lives of northerners, and indeed of ALL Nigerians matter, and the ACF cannot keep mute when our people, and indeed all Nigerian, are murdered in cold blood by misguided and atrocious people.

“Unfortunately in the midst of all this serious national crisis it would appear that the entire narrative from the South East has been taken over by IPOB and so-called unknown gunmen to the exclusion of established leaders. This is worrisome,” it added.
