How to Calculate the number of blocks required Blocks to build fence around a plot of Land.

Follow these steps:

1. Determine the Perimeter of the Plot.
- Formula for Perimeter (P):
- Rectangular/Square Plot: ( P = 2 times (Length + Width).
- Irregular Plot: Measure all sides and sum .
- Subtract Gates/Openings: Deduct the width of any gates from the total perimeter.

2. Decide Fence Height (H)
- Choose the desired height of the fence (e.g., 1.8 meters or 6 feet).

3. Block Dimensions
-Standard Block Sizes (adjust based on local availability):
- Length (L): 0.45 meters (18 inches).
- Height (H_b): 0.23 meters (9 inches).
- Include Mortar Joints (if applicable): Add ~10mm (0.01m) to block length/height if mortar is used.

-4. Calculate Blocks per Course (Horizontal Row)
{Blocks per Course} = {Adjusted Perimeter (meters) \ {Block Length (meters)

- Round up to the nearest whole number (partial blocks require cuts).

5. Calculate Number of Courses (Vertical Layers)
{Number of Courses} = {Fence Height (meters) \ {Block Height (meters)

Banks failure, I don't get it, you can't withdraw more than 150k on ATM, why will Central bank allow POS to withdraw more than what Bank ATM is given daily? That is lapses from both CBN/commercial Banks.

The best practice is to fill the Blocks in the foundation with weak concrete (or normal concrete if you can afford it). The reason for filling blocks with concrete is obvious: To make the blocks stronger as if they are concrete blocks.
There is what is called EARTH PRESSURE acting on the blocks which makes the blockwork act as if they are Retaining Walls. So leaving them Hollow like that is not the best however since to avoid the cost of filling them with concrete, they just assign a labourer to block the holes before putting the chain beam to connect all the columns (pillars)

Then coming to the question of filling the blocks with laterite (filling sand), is not a common practice thought some people do it. It is not advisable to have earth on both sides of the block and also inside the blocks. The soil inside the holes of the blocks doesnt offer added strength like concrete will do, so it becomes an added load on the blocks. It is like a pregnant woman. The baby inside her is an added load. Whatever doesnt make you stronger makes you weaker. It's a universal principle.

Well personally I don't know anyone who has been infected or died of the novel covid-19 virus, with the hype and rate of increase as purported by our government and the secrecy sorrounding those they claim to have it, I have my doubts regarding the figures.

I have personally followed Ghana on worldometer.info and Ghana's covid cases has remained below 1300 and just 9 deaths over the past week(s). So what does Ghana know that we don't.

Also I read a report on yahoo news saying sunlight easily kills the virus and we all know that the sun in Nigeria can boil yam in the right circumstance.

Another thing I noticed is that as soon as the European union gave Nigeria a 27 billion grant, the cases started to rise uncontrollably. Anyway thats my observation.

Area of block is 0.101sqm

Number of blocks needed
643.25 ÷ 0.101 = 6369pcs then add 5% waste which is 318 so Total blocks required is 6687 approximately 6700 blocks

Average good 6inch block sold For N180
180 x 6700= 1,206,000

Assuming 2gates (Tentatively)

Excavation: budget N180,000.

Foundation Concrete: 13cum @ 45,000/1cum = N585,000 (cement sand granite water and workmanship)

Laying of fence: between 85bags and 100bags of cement at least 60 tonnes of sand water budget 30,000 workmanship budget 450,000
