Jason 1 is the one with the family, he was reunited with them by the end of the first season, Jason 2 is AWOL. The Jason in custody is 13.

Everything will still cycle back to uprooting Jason 1 new found life in season 2.

Leighton storyline is just there to fill up the plot, the main story is about Jason 1 family members and the characters they interact with. Stay focused on that.

The fillers are just disrupting the real story.

You fell for the illusory complexity trick of the plot, concentrate on the central story where everything started from, which in this case is Jason 2 stealing the life of Jason 1.

The rest of the plot are just noise to keep the central theme going.
