Politics / Re: The Donald Duke Dilemma: Does Nigeria Win With Him Or Lose Without Him? by calitobrigonte(m): 9:50am On Dec 23, 2021
What exactly did Mr Tinubu do in Lagos State other than what I mentioned in my post?
DubaiLandLord:
Donald Duke didn't perform better than Tinubu as a Governor.

I think Nigeria needs a President that can develop each section of the country to be a champion in the niche that region holds a comparative advantage, with respect to other regions and West Africa.

Yes! Building bridges, flyovers and roads are forms of development. Gov. Wike has done well with his work in Rivers State. Likewise, Tinubu, Ambode and Sanwo-Olu ( correct spelling? ) in Lagos State.

Also worthy of mention, Governors Udom and Umahi have both transformed the infrastructural landscape of Akwa Ibom State and Ebonyi State respectively.

However, intrinsically, these states remain what they were. No development in the true sense of the word (no insults intended please)

Rivers and Akwa Ibom are still states where oil constitute the base of her economies. Other than infrastructure, Lagos is what it has always been.

It takes a keen sense of awareness and understanding to project a viable course for a state; especially if it's a departure from the obvious route/path that state should tow.

The one person I know that has changed the economic base of a state and truly brought to life what rebranding really means is Governor Donald Duke. If not for how successive administrations have mismanaged his legacies, Cross River State would currently have the highest IGR in Nigeria.

Mr Donald's performance as governor of Cross River State between 1999-2007 transformed the state from a subsistence agrarian/ civil service state to the number one tourist destination in Nigeria, nay West Africa.

A catalogue of the myriad of real societal and economic metamorphosis during his administration will do well as a course in development economics.

Obviously, he doesn't have the 'reach' of the Atikus and Tinubus. Yes, they are 'heavyweights'. Albeit, Nigeria might just get it right with a "paperweight'' politician.

Stupid people everywhere. Someone, a little naive teenager is in serious pains for missing an exam, and all the dickhead could think about was that nonsense he wrote up there.

And it's the most liked post there. Many people online need serious mental examination.

It's really worrisome! Most of us adults have made worse mistakes!
I wonder whether we've never heard of the carrot and stick approach! Scold her and also suggest for a solution!
Thanks for pointing this out!

Thank you. My folks are breathing down harrrrd on my neck. I've been trying since 2014.

Please and please and please! Do the following:

1. Go to the venue for the exams (which you should have done irrespective of how late it was)
2. Explain to them.
3. Beg and cry
4. Cry and beg.
5. They will heed your pleas.
6. Before you do number 1, pray!
7. Don't forget to give all glory to God.

Please, this thread should be deleted. You should never turn off your engine when your brakes fail!

As noted earlier, every driver should learn what 'engine breaking' entails.

Education / Re: What Is Next For Me After Withdrawal From The University? by calitobrigonte(m): 11:25am On Oct 16, 2019
Likewise, I dropped out of school while in 300l in the year 2003. I gained admission in 2007 and graduated in 2011.

I was really irresponsible during my first sojourn in University. This contributed to my withdrawal.

At the second time of asking, i was really serious with studies. I became really close to God and by His grace i graduated with a good grade.

Presently, i have a thriving business; I'm married with three kids. And I'm almost done with my masters.

Your can make it through this stormy phase in your life. If i could, then you can.

Do a little research so that you know which course to choose.

Trust in God. Commit to your studies and watch out how He will turn your life around.

Goodluck!

These guys are campaigning for people that in an ideal place would have no chance of being in their respective state house of assembly. With respective to the demographics of Nigeria, these candidates are...

Nigeria employs a form of government known as GERIATOCRACY. This is coined from geriatrics. My father plays with my kids whenever we visit... I don't see why these great grandfathers cannot leave governance for people that are FIT to serve and do same with their grandchildren.

With the present structure of politics in Nigeria, it will be a herculean task to unseat and displace the current grandfathers that are hell bent on ruling.

Even with a daily cocktail of steroids and energy boosters, these grandfathers that saturate our political landscape cannot manage the affairs of government.
Ask yourself, how many of our current crop of ancestors sorry leaders, can stand a marathon meeting like the recent EU meeting on migrants?

Let us leave the issue of mental strength for another day. You don't need me telling you what happens to our brain cells as we age. Now imagine the brain cells of an ancestor... You get the picture?
Sports / Re: Mohamed Salah To Miss The World Cup by calitobrigonte(m): 11:46pm On May 26, 2018
The pic attached shows the late Yekini through on goal. Italian legend Maldini had no option than to commit a foul by tucking Yekini's arm under his and falling to the ground.

Against quick and/or burly attackers, it is a very effective way to stop them from advancing.

Personally, I have used it several times( back in the day). I have never popped anyone's shoulder or elbow. Yekini did not get injured.

Yes, I agree Ramos is a dirty defender ( we Madrid fans painfully acknowledge that since the day he joined from Sevilla). However, there was no intent to pop Salah's shoulder, talk less of ruining his World Cup dreams.

Properties / See What My Landlady Did! What Should I Do? by calitobrigonte(m): 11:10am On Jun 28, 2016
My rent expired on the 31st of May 2016. I have been away for sometime. So I went to move my things on the 26th of June 2016. I met a chain and padlock at my apartment. She hasn't given me an eviction notice! Honestly, I have not paid the electricity bills for about 4-5 months because there was an outstanding debt of 25k on the meter accrued by the last tenant, which the power company insisted must be cleared first. I plan to give her what I owe! Is she right to lock the apartment? What course of redress should I take? Pls if u must insult or call me names, make sure you also give a constructive advice. Thank you.
