PoliticsBe Warned Against Mocking Kim Jong-Un,Lest U Pay A Heavy Price – N-Korea to 9ja by callydon(op): 2:32am On Sep 04, 2017
Nigerians have been warned to stop making a mockery of the Supreme Leader of North Korea Kim Jong-un “lest they pay a heavy price”.

Kim Jong-un A news service from the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea (DPRK), took to its twitter handle @DPRK_News to issue the warning. The twitter handle does not bear the verification icon of twitter as an officially verified handle.

It said:
“Impudent peoples of Nigeria are warned against mockery of Supreme Leader Kim Jong-Un, lest they pay a heavy price.”

CelebritiesMarriage Not On My Mind – Flavour (SEE His Reason) by callydon(op): 6:38pm On Sep 03, 2017
Even though he is the father of two beautiful daughters, Ada Ada singer, Flavour is still one of the most eligible bachelors in the entertainment industry.

However, for those who are anxiously waiting to know when he will walk down the aisle, they may have to wait a while longer as the singer only has eyes for his first love right now.

When asked if marriage is on his to-do list, he said,
“To be sincere with you my brother, I am married to my music for now.
Music is a very jealous lover and it is quite difficult combining an active music career with anything else. One of them would have to suffer and I don’t think I’m ready for that now.”

Speaking on the women that have confessed to having a crush on him, he said,
“I think that’s a good thing. If women like you as an artiste, it means your ‘market’ is selling.”

Please I keep having N50 deducted from my mtn line on daily basis. I called mtn and they keep telling me that it's mobile originated billing. I don't know if it's the auto update of wallpapers that causes the charges. How do I stop it please?
Yeah, it's mobile originated. Gionee is kinda charging you for using Marshmallow.

To stop u need to be rooted though. So is ur phone rooted?

EducationASUU Gives FG 6 New Conditions To End Strike by callydon(op): 1:47am On Aug 30, 2017
University teachers have presented six new conditions for calling off their two-week old strike.

But the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, yesterday pleaded with the lecturers to embrace peace for the sake of innocent students.

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) is to discuss today the demands of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and chart the way forward.

Some of the options include:
Bringing back ASUU to the negotiation table;
Allowing the Wale Babalakin Panel to conclude its assignment;
Suing ASUU to either the Industrial Arbitration Panel (IAP) or the National Industrial Court (NIC); and
Referring all issues to the Ministry of Labour and Employment, in line with the Trade Dispute law.
According to a source, who spoke in confidence with our correspondent, the six conditions were not part of the previous demands referred to the Babalakin Committee for arbitration.

The new conditions are that:

The Federal Government should immediately accept payment of shortfall in salaries of universities;
Universities to manage their IGR the way they like and exemption from TSA;
Exemption of Endowment Funds, JV cash from TSA;
Payment of University Salary Scale to teachers in primary schools in universities;
Release/implementation of guidelines for the retirement of Professors in line with 2009 FG-ASUU Agreement; and
Waiver/ government fiat to set up Nigerian Universities Pension Management Company
The source said: “ASUU has brought proposals different from the agreement they reached in the Senate with the Federal Ministry of Education.
“They are asking the government to take over the shortfall in the salaries of universities when there were glaring cases of abuse of recruitment process and non-compliance with Integrated Personnel Payment Information System (IPPIS).
“They want the government to accept liability for the shortfall in spite of the fact that universities acted arbitrarily in increasing their wage bill.
“The lecturers have also asked the government to manage their Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) henceforth instead of remitting such to the Treasury Single Account (TSA) in line with their demand for autonomy for universities.”

But, according to the source, the government does not want to waive the TSA policy for universities. It, however, expressed readiness to exempt Endowment Funds and Joint Ventures Funds from TSA.

“In their new demands, the lecturers asked for the issuance of a fiat to the Pension Commission to register the Nigerian Universities Pension Management Company.

“PENCOM has expressed its readiness to register Nigerian Universities Pension Management Company, if ASUU and other stakeholders can quickly address the lapses already highlighted in the registration process. PENCOM is insisting that the guidelines in the 2005 Pension Reforms Act must be fully complied with,” the source said.

The the government is said to be shocked by ASUU’s fresh request that the Federal Government should pay University Salary Scale to primary school teachers in varsity staff schools.

It said: “They are saying that the staff school should be allowed to continue to collect tuition fees.”

“The government has a different approach to the staff school. Apart from retaining its policy that primary education is free under the Universal Basic Education (UBE) Scheme, the government is of the opinion that teachers in varsity schools be either paid by the Universal Basic Education Commission(UBEC) or be placed under the salary scale of the Federal Ministry of Education or Federal Salary Scale,” the senior government official said.

“Another demand from ASUU is the release of the guidelines for the retirement of professors in line with 2009 Agreement.”

Responding to a question, the source said: “We believe that ASUU is trying to be difficult with the new conditions after the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, had conceded N23billion to pay earned allowances of the lecturers.

“The ASUU strike will be tabled before the Federal Executive Council (FEC) on Wednesday (today). The FEC will weigh options and chart the way forward.”

Contacted last night, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige said: “They have brought some proposals different from the demands we are already addressing. I want ASUU to toe the path of peace for the sake of the innocent students in our universities.

“I am asking ASUU to know that this dispute is already apprehended by this ministry. And when we apprehend a dispute, it is necessary for parties to come for talks and consideration of issues.

“Going by Section 3 of the Labour Dispute law, any further discussion on ASUU demands should be done with the Federal Ministry of Labour.”

Heromaniaa:
My name is Psalm. Yes, awkward right? But that’s the name my mamma called me when I was born. My Dad had wanted to call me Job, but my mamma would not have it.

“Have you seen any man called Job that wasn’t a carpenter or a bricklayer” she had fired at my dad. “All the people wey dey answer Job na so so suffer suffer!” Mamma certainly hadn’t heard of Steve Jobs (well, after he moved out of the garage). Plus my oldman had suffered much, having lived from hand to mouth since he lost his job thirty years ago, yet his name wasn’t Job. So there was more to suffering than being called an ordinary name.

“Let’s call him David” my momma had suggested. “It is simple and short. And remember he killed Goliath.”

“David? The man who stole another man’s wife? I can’t call my son David. All the people wey dey answer David too like woman!”

Mamma had thought of it and the lives of a few people bearing David in my neighbourhood had been enough to convince her. In fact two days before I was named, two married men had fought over a woman on the street, and they were both called David.

After much dilly dallying, they called me Psalm. Popsy wasn’t so excited about the name; David and Psalm were like Bobrisky and bleaching – One and the same. But in the end he accepted it. So that was how I got my name, one would think after all the hair-splitting deliberations that gave birth to my name, my name would at least bring me luck. Far from it. I don suffer pass nyash. Yes. I have been peed on, shit on, sat on and what not…

Yesterday was the day kasala burst for my head. I was on my way to an interview. Since 5 years wey I graduate, bros, I never see real job. But that yesterday, something told me that was the end of my job search. My girlfriend had linked me to a friend that had friend who was the GM in a manufacturing company. When I contacted the so called GM, he picked the phone and answered me like a vampire had given him a Mouth Gig.

“Who be rat? He spat out.

“It’s me Psalm. A friend of Sarah, who is a friend to Akpan, your good friend. He said you are the GM of Green food Industries.”

I could hear him chuckling on the other end.

“Werin you wan make I ju for you?” he replied. I was already getting pissed.

“I want to submit my CV to your company. I was told you could help me get a job”

“Bring am tomorrow, I go help you give the GM”

“Are you not the GM?

“Bro e be like say you never ready. I be the Gateman, your friend no tell your friend to tell your friend to tell you?

My jaw dropped. But I had no choice; I tidied my white shirt and dusted my CV. I must get that job the next day…

As early as 8 AM the next day, I set out. My gf had made a delicious afang soup the other night. I quickly heated four wraps of fufu, devoured it and left feeling like a bouncer. It had rained the other night and the bad roads were still muddy. I did my best to avoid reckless drivers from splashing dirty water on me. My best, as usual, was not enough.

A man in a black prado Jeep zoomed past, emptying a pot hole of muddy water on me. I did what any other frustrated man would do.

I boarded a bike and chased after him. Who knows, he could settle me with something tangible. The okadaman was a skillful rider but the prado guy had no chill. After five minutes, I spotted his car parked right in front of my babe’s apartment. Fear catch me like politician wey receive alert from Dasuki. I paid off the bike man and cautiously peeped into my girlfriend’s one room apartment. What I saw shocked me.

EducationAdmission Processes For 2017/2018 Commence Soon – JAMB (see Date) by callydon(op): 2:40pm On Aug 25, 2017
The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) says the admission processes for 2017/2018 will commence on Sept.15 and close on Jan.31, 2018.

The Head of JAMB Information and Media, Dr Fabian Benjamin, made this known to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Bwari, Abuja, on Friday.

Benjamin said that the direct entry applications for admission would close Sept. 15.

He explained that students could only secure admission after they might have passed through the rudiments of admission processes.

“We have come up with Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) this year.

“This entails that once candidates are admitted and the institution approves, then JAMB will approve, the information about the candidates will be keyed into CAPS automatically.

“Candidates can monitor their admission process through CAPS online and those who want to get admission letter can do so by printing such online.’’

According to him, CAPS will make record gathering easy and give easy access to students to print their admission letters among other things.

“What we are trying to do now is that we are looking at the perimeter realistically; we decided to come up with new strategy aimed at ensuring the actual data.

In a related development, Benjamin told NAN that the 120 minimum cut-off mark would not in any way affect the nation’s educational standard negatively as being alleged by some people.

He said that the issue of the 120 cut-off mark was a policy of heads of tertiary institutions across the country, being the outcome of their policy meeting recently.

“The cut off mark was not the decision of JAMB, but the heads of tertiary institutions at the policy meeting.

“They decided that their institutions should be allowed to determine their own cut-off point based on their own peculiarities, but nobody for whatever reason should go below 120.

Benjamin explained that the sustenance of post UTME was a ministerial decision.

According to him, we are not opposed to the directive, we see nothing wrong with it, and our interest is to ensure that the goal of admission is achieved.

“What we are all doing is to ensure that the power given to tertiary institutions is based on policies which established them.’’

According to him, the important thing is for tertiary institutions to do what is right.

He noted that most tertiary institutions did not comply with the previous 180 cut-off mark that was given last year.

FashionGhana Bans Bleaching Creams In The Country by callydon(op): 1:48pm On Aug 17, 2017
Ghana has banned bleaching creams in the country. This was made public by the acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), Mrs Mimi Darko on Wednesday while appearing before Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC).

Darko revealed that the ban commenced since last year as it also stopped registering body creams with bleaching agents.

Adom News reported that while answering questions posed by the Chairman of the PAC, Mr James Avedzi, on what the FDA was doing about bleaching creams, Mrs Darko said the FDA was currently engaging in sensitisation programmes to educate market women and other groups on the negative effects of bleaching.

The committee commended the FDA for its performance so far and urged it to do more to protect consumers in the country. It emerged during the committee’s sitting that an amount of GH¢61,448.00 was paid to a former staff of the Pharmacy Council while she was on study leave for three years.

Ms Marian Torgagbo now Mrs Marian Honu, who was an Inspecting Pharmacist, resigned from the council in November 2013 after returning from her studies abroad but the council declined her request.

According to the 2015 Auditor-General’s report, Mrs Honu was on study leave from July 2010 to September 2013 to pursue her Master’s Degree in Public Health at Emory University, Atlanta, Georgia in the United States of America (USA) but resigned immediately after the course.

According to the report, “her action violates the terms of the bond on July 7, 2010, which required her to serve the Council for five years after completion or in breach refund the compensation paid her during the period of her study with five per cent interest.”

Officials of the council told the committee that the council had sued Mrs Honu for recovery of the amount plus interest.
