We need to do better. The Chinese are involved in illegal mining here. They do it themselves. They contracts that Julius Berger, Schlumberger, PW etc once did is now handled by their contractors. |

Nothing wrong in providing for a woman, if you can afford it. Men are meant to provide, while women support him and manage resources. This has been the custom right from time.
No matter the level of civilization and exposure, i feel the traditional man and woman relationship remains the best, where the man provides and she nurtures. Nice balance. |

Tech is definitely not for everyone. I have passion, I am a very resilient person, plus I never start what I can't complete. |

airsaylongcome: No do UI/UX. These "new cats" aka young bloods go destroy you there. Look for something most people run away from. For a n00b, someone already suggested System Admin. Allied to Syd Admin is Devops. I would suggest Help Desk->System Admin and ultimately Devops. I be "grandpapa" like you. But this field doesn't care about age. At least not in your 40s. Welcome. And stay the course. You will run into stuff that will make you consider quiting. That's the time to dig into your core and tell yourself why you are doing this. Na escape from poverty all of us dey. Dem go say 46 na old man. But person wey die at 46 die young. Nor let age pressure you. Na when person wake na hin be hin morning Na wao. Una just dey wow me with correct correct advices. I really appreciate. I will research more about the course. Thanks. |

Grandfather1: At 47? My brother, you’re just starting second half. I learned how to use smartphone properly at 52 — now I send voice notes like small pikin. Learning no get expiry date.
UI/UX? Go ahead. If the eyes are still clear and the brain still dey catch things, nothing stop you. Just make sure say you get small patience and steady internet.
When I started learning Excel, I nearly faint from formula overload. Now I build budget sheets for my wife’s akara business. That one na tech too. you are very funny. I appreciate your input. Now I'm determined about enrolling, but someone suggested I take another course, that UI/UX is saturated already. |

SKhanmi: Not too old. Just not UIUX, it has a low entry barrier and the job market for it is saturated. Trust employers to take advantage and offer peanuts, you might as well learn graphics design and be done with it.
Find something harder and stick to it. Cloud, backend or System admin. You can check out other learning paths also or go back to ethical hacking.
And you must have a steady income to back you up. Thanks. I like your take on the topic. I will check out the ones you have mentioned. |

AustineE1: Great novelist,he also authored the book 'EMEKA',which is more of a biography of colonel Emeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, leader of the breakaway Republic of Biafra. As we mourn Federick Forsyth, it is a reminder to us Ndigbo that 'there was a country',an unfilled dream that must remain in our mind, while thriving in our daily endeavors,we should know that Africa and blacks are waiting for that black nation that will bring about true liberation and emancipation of blacks,we should hopefully believe that as the 'sun rise in the east',so will the oppressed 'people of colour' worldwide fine solace in the 'land of the rising sun'! Igbos will go if they want to, but I haven't seen a more divided people as the Igbos. The Nigerian government won't be able to prevent them from leaving if their minds made up. Una just dey worry us upandan everyday. Una no wan go. |

I don't support violence but if it's true that whites own almost 80% of farmland in SA, let them be magnanimous enough to donate some back to the black. After all, the land belonged to the blacks before they came and forcefully take over.
Ramaphosa was too gentle for my liking during the meeting. |

SmartyPants: Are there really circles of such or you may just randomly meet such people and perhaps over time for your own circle or get invited into one? Perhaps these circles exist in Uni but once you're in the real world... It almost becomes a lottery who you meet They exist. They don't just have the time anymore to hang out frequently the way we use to do as kids. Some people you view as loners aren't at all, they are only mindful of who they move with. You don't get invited into one, chance meetings and what follows after will determine if you will be a permanent part of them. |

This is why I said that my answer is ambiguous.
At the start of my career, I would prefer to be a starter at a small club. That way, I get to develop my skills, build confidence and increase my market value, before going for a bigger one.
At the tail end of my career, I will, if the opportunity presents itself settle in a big money league (not just club) so as to make quick money before retirement. |
