A young Nigerian IT prodigy, David Ntekim Rex was shot by robbers in Lagos on Friday .

David, 23, was attacked in Jibowu, Lagos State, around 8 p.m, as he was returning home.

According to gathered reports, David Ntekim Rex is the second son of his parents, after his attack the police were alerted but they allegedly watched as he bled to death while profiling him.



Even after he was rushed to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, doctors refused to take any action until they later pronounced him dead on arrival.

A Cousin to the deceased, Roy Mustang broke the news to Twitter on Sunday.

My ‘auntie’ has three sons. She’s always crazy about them. The middle child, David, is the most promising. He’s a tech guy; very young, very brilliant. David was on his was home on Friday night when he was robbed, shot and killed around Jibowu. Please say a prayer for my aunt.

David got shot around 8 p.m. The police were called, David hadn’t died yet. The Nigerian police stood and watched as he gasped for air. They took pictures instead, and were more concerned with why he – a tech guy- was carrying a laptop. Nigeria failed you, David.

The police then took david and his family to Sabo, where they looked for the laptop that he had on him instead of giving them a police report. The police officers were drunk and kept being unreasonable. He was finally released to his family, and they got to LUTH around 12:30am.

David wasn’t attended to by the doctors at LUTH. He was there till the family was convinced he couldn’t be alive because he had no pulse. The doctors refused to administer any test to see if he was alive.

This is someone that was in the process of interning with Microsoft. He even had an interview with the south Africa office. I’m broken.

I just left Mrs. Ntekim-Rex. I don’t think it has fully hit her what just happened. She’s still in shock.





David in 2018 as a computer engineering student at the University of Lagos emerged second in the annual “Master the Mainframe” competition, organized by AngelHack, a global hackathon company and the IBM Z Academic Initiative, aged 19 then.

The first position in the Middle East and African region went to 21 year old Salisu Ali of Bayero University in Kano.

The two Nigerians were also among the top 12 finalists globally.

Both students’ entries, according to the judges, showcased innovation and their clear understanding of software security and utility principles, two key attributes of mainframe systems.

The other 10 finalists were from Brazil, Germany, India, Japan, Nepal and the USA.

Certain reports was dispersed on Sunday that the National leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, is sick and was flown abroad for medical treatment after being infected with COVID-19..

Addressing the reports a Spokesperson for Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Tunde Rahman discredited the reports that Tinubu was flown abroad because he had COVID-19.


‘That’s a lie from the pit of hell. Asiwaju is very okay. He is very fine and not sick. He does not have COVID-19.

‘If you must know, we have done COVID-19 test 15 times, each time he felt we had travelled and mingled with many people and could be vulnerable even though he always wore his face mask, but he has been certified negative 15 times’, Rahman said.

He confirmed that Tinubu is not in the country and is resting in London, contrary to reports that he is in France.



”Yes he is abroad. Not in France, but in London resting. So you can see the falsity in that information you talked about,” he said when asked.

Four passengers lost their lives while many were left injured on Thursday in a fatal accident along the Benin-Ekpoma-Abua highway in Edo State.

The crash happened near Obagie community, in Uhunmwonde Local Government Area of the state, involving a 18-seater commercial bus, an articulated truck and a Toyota Sienna car.



Other passengers were said to have also sustained varying degrees of injuries in the process.

According to a passenger who was travelling in the Toyota Sienna car behind the Ekpoma-bound bus, the bus driver was trying to avoid a pothole on the road when it had a head on collision with an articulated truck laden with baskets of tomatoes, coming from the opposite direction.



He explained that following the crash, the bus fell on the road, while the Sienna ran into it.

When contacted, the Edo State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Mr. Henry Benemesia, confirmed the incident.

He attributed the crash to over-speeding and dangerous overtaking on the part of the commercial bus driver.

In response President Muhammadu Buhari requests to the Senate seeking the extension of the implementation of the capital components of the 2020 budget to 2021, the Senate on Wednesday approved the extension.

The executive communication from the President was passed to the Senate on Tuesday through the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Mrs. Zainab Ahmed in a letter.

The extension of the implementation of the capital components of the 2020 budget was extended from December 31, 2020, to March 31, 2021.

The Senate on Wednesday, passed an executive communication from the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), seeking the extension of the implementation of the capital components of the 2020 budget from December 31, 2020, to March 31, 2021 in order to enable the executive implement the capital aspect of the budget.


The President had cited the Covid-19 pandemic which prevented the ministries, department, and agencies of government to carry out implementation of capital aspects of the budget.

The Government of Lagos State in a joint collaboration with Kebbi State Government and Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has revealed that it has plans to sell bags of rice for N20,000 to residents of the state before Christmas.

Speaking to Newsmen on Monday in Lagos, the Commissioner for Agriculture, Ms Abisola Olusanya, said about 100,000 bags of 50 kg were being expected for sales at N20,000 per bag.

Olusanya said the state government was working very hard with the Kebbi Government and the Federal Government to ensure that people of Lagos have enough rice during the festive season.

“We are intervening in the area of availability of rice for the festive season, and it will be sold at N20,000 per bag.

“During the festive season, millets have to be polished, mill, and processed before rice will be available.

“It’s not that rice is not available in the market, but the price points are a bit high.

“The intervention of the Lagos State Government under the leadership of Mr Babjide Sanwo-Olu, in collaboration with the Federal Government, through CBN and the Governor of Kebbi, is to ensure that we have rice available at lower price points.

“Don’t forget that they are in the harvest season now for paddy, so this is the best time to get good quality rice.

The Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai on Thursday said that Nigeria’s debt is getting out of control and the government has to do something about it

According to El-Rufai, the country’s domestic debt was getting to its debt ceiling as far as liquidity was concerned, adding that there was no need to pretend that Nigeria’s debt-to-Gross Domestic Product ratio was still low.

Speaking at a virtual event organised by World Bank Nigeria, El-Rufai also stated that most rich Nigerians did not pay income tax.

The governor said the Central Bank of Nigeria’s involvement in many activities should be addressed, adding that the country’s rising debt should be controlled.

He said, “You can’t fund security more than you are doing now unless you reduce spending on other ministries, departments and agencies.

“The extensive way in which the Central Bank is into everything, I think, has to be addressed and dealt with. And we must look at our domestic debt management and do something about it.

“It is getting out of control and we are getting to our debt ceiling as far as liquidity is concerned. And to pretend that our debt-to-GDP ratio is still low, I think is not the answer to the question.”

On the collection of taxes by the federal and state governments, El-Rufai said it was worrisome to note that many rich Nigerians defaulted in the payment of taxes.

He said, “It is a travesty that in Nigeria, as at 2018, just about 20 people in the whole country paid more than N20m in income tax. It is a travesty and something should be done.”

The governor said the federal and state governments were not doing enough to target rich people and get them to pay the right amount of tax.

He said, “I think that rich Nigerians don’t pay taxes. They live in huge houses, drive expensive cars but when you see their tax return, you realise that the civil servants on grade level 12 pay more income tax than they do.”

In September this year, the Debt Management Office released Nigeria’s total public debt stock as of June 30, 2020, and put the country’s debt portfolio at N31tn, indicating an increase of N2.38tn within a space of three months.

A government worker in Benue state burnt himself to death over unpaid allowances on Wednesday December 10, 2020.

The man identified as Aondona Yaga works at the Gwer local government secretariat in Benue state, he took the decision to burn himself in his office after he fell sick and couldn’t get the required money to treat himself.

The incident was confirmed by the Information Officer of Gwer Local Government, Mr. Chris Avi but he didn’t give further details.

The Nigerian Communications Commission has issued a suspension of new SIM cards to Mobile Network Operators immediately in order to allow an audit of the Subscriber Registration Database.

The Director, Public Affairs at NCC, Dr. Ikechukwu Adinde, in a statement on Wednesday, said it was absolutely necessary for operators to comply until the audit exercise had been concluded.

The statement reads in part “In line with the Federal Government desire to consolidate the achievement of the SIM Card registration exercise of September, 2019, the Honourable Minister of Communications and Digital Economy has directed the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to embark on another audit of the Subscriber Registration Database again.”

According to him, the directive became necessary in view of the preponderance of pre-registered SIMs with the attendant security implications associated with the use of same to facilitate criminal activities.

Several protesters that were arrested during the protests nationwide were released immediately by the government but they instead arrested bank accounts of key personnel’s and organization that supported the #ENDSARS protests.

2. Justice for all deceased victims of police brutality and appropiate compensation for their families
JIMOH ISIAKA was a clear example why this fight is important, he was afar from the protests scene but was hit by a stray bullet. He was rushed to Bowen University Teaching Hospital, he died while receiving treatment.

The government expressed shock over his death but Governor Seyi Makinde during his address on Twitter on the incident questioned the system of government, indicating that he as the Governor of the state, who is supposed to the Chief Security Officer does not have the necessary powers to control the police force.


The justice for JIMOH ISIAKA should unquestionably be that the Police officers involved in his death be penalized and most importantly the police should stop the unjustful killings but two days later about 8 people were killed in the Soun’s Palace in the same Ogbomosho were JIMOH ISIAKA was murdered.

The state governor, Seyi Makinde compensated JIMOH ISIAKA’s family with 1 million Naira.

3. Setting up an independent body to oversee the investigation and prosecution of all reports of police misconduct
The government responded to this by setting up a panel to address police misconduct in several states with the consent of the President, Governors, IGP and others.

The police force recently challenged the legality of the panel, a move that has been taken back by the police force.

The major function of the panel was to address police injustice that was brought before it but it is so evident that the government and police force are not cooperating.

For example, in Anambra state, CSP James Nwafor who is allegedly responsible for the brutal deaths of several youths in the state was officially summoned by the panel of Anambra state but he has since refused to show up at the panel and the police are not evidently ready to give him up yet.

The police wanted to stop the investigation because several state panels were showing the the world of the hidden atrocities committed by them.

The Lagos panel has showed that the panel set up through the government is like a waste of time and we shouldn’t expect this to be our claim to justce.

The 4 and 5 Points have been untreated
The government doesn’t look like they are ready to address the last two demands but these two demands are key and that is why I think this fight is slowly becoming a lost cause. Most youths that were involved during the protests have gone into hibernation, we’re being distracted by the government.

The protest shouldn’t stop even if the panel is gong on both can work and should work simultaneously. If we rely on the panel alone this fight would be a lost cause but we can avoid that.

Former Chelsea and Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech has dumped football for hockey as he signed for Guildford Phoenix ice hockey team.
The Czech shot-stopper will make his debut on Sunday after penning a one-year deal with the Phoenix.
Cech has been training with the club since retiring from football at the end of last season and has spoken of his excitement for his new challenge.
He said: “I am delighted to have the opportunity to play with the Pheonix to get the match experience.
“I hope I can help this young team to achieve their goals for the season and try to win as many games as possible when I have the chance to play.
“After 20 years of professional football this is going to be a wonderful experience for me to play the game I loved to watch and play as a kid.”
Head coach Andy Hemmings added: “The signing of Petr is massive for the Phoenix.
He is a great guy who trains hard and I cannot wait to see him make his debut.”
Cech is currently on the staff at Chelsea working as technical and performance advisor at Stamford Bridge.

PROTOCOLS
1. I will start by asking you to pardon my voice. As you can hear, I have a cold as a result of working hard to meet your deadline!
2. I am delighted to present the 2020 Federal Budget Proposals to this Joint Session of the National Assembly, being my first budget presentation to this 9th National Assembly.

3. Before presenting the Budget, let me thank all of you Distinguished and Honourable Members of the National Assembly, for your avowed commitment to cooperate with the Executive to accelerate the pace of our socio-economic development and enhance the welfare of our people.
4. I will also once again thank all Nigerians, who have demonstrated confidence in our ability to deliver on our socio-economic development agenda, by re-electing this Administration with a mandate to Continue the Change. We remain resolutely committed to the actualization of our vision of a bright and prosperous future for all Nigerians.
5. During this address, I will present highlights of our budget proposals for the next fiscal year. The Honourable Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning will provide full details of these proposals, subsequently.
OVERVIEW OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENTS IN 2019
6. The economic environment remains very challenging, globally. The International Monetary Fund expects global economic recovery to slow down from 3.6 percent in 2018 to 3.5 percent in 2020. This reflects uncertainties arising from security and trade tensions with attendant implications on commodity price volatility.
7. Nearer to home, however, Sub-Saharan Africa is projected to continue to grow from 3.1 percent in 2018 to 3.6 percent in 2020. This is driven by investor confidence, oil production recovery in key exporting countries, sustained strong agricultural production as well as public investment in non-dependent economies.

8. Mr. Senate President; Right Honourable Speaker; I am pleased to report that the Nigerian economy thus far has recorded nine consecutive quarters of GDP growth. Annual growth increased from 0.82 percent in 2017 to 1.93 percent in 2018, and 2.02 percent in the first half of 2019. The continuous recovery reflects our economy’s resilience and gives credence to the effectiveness of our economic policies thus far.
9. We also succeeded in significantly reducing inflation from a peak of 18.72 percent in January 2017, to 11.02 percent by August 2019. This was achieved through effective fiscal and monetary policy coordination, exchange rate stability and sensible management of our foreign exchange.
10. We have sustained accretion to our external reserves, which have risen from US$23 billion in October 2016 to about US$42.5 billion by August 2019. The increase is largely due to favourable prices of crude oil in the international market, minimal disruption of crude oil production given the stable security situation in the Niger Delta region and our import substitution......
