I put a call through to Miss Kemi and il summarise d convo

The issue we are having is that the FG always budgets for 220 thousand graduates per batch. Now this year, there are 275 thousand graduates for batch a. No funds for the extra 55000 graduates. Now, they re trying to get the FG to approve more funds. She also has pleaded with the DG to issue a statement to PCMs which is very important. So they will definitely call us up bt only wen the extra funds is approved.

This minister of finance is in trouble. The number has been busy since, obviously a lot of PCMs re bombarding her with calls

Hi everyone, it's been a while.

So with d way things re- Silence from NYSC, no CUL, no date, no nothing- i see some people have settled for July, it's understandable but truth is people will keep toying with u wen hey know u will settle for anything. Nysc knows they can come out tomorrow nd say till July and we would settle for it. Its funny cus even sum PCMs want to hear it's till July just so they can say "my source is sure" or "i told u so"

It's really painful cus not even social media is helping our case. The question we should be asking is wat do we do now? Are we protesting? Are we suing? Are we going on air? What do we do?

I am tired nd i know we all are b let's stop settling, let's unite nd be active please i beg u guys. Let's be educated youths

Nothing is stopping them from going as stream 2 and in fact it is sacrosanct they will be going as streams 2.

I am not aware of your assertion above, all I know is that the postponements witnessed from the onset were as a result of no fund and waiting for the budget to be passed.

You are indeed wise and supportive. Stream 2 Corpers need people like you to gear us on. Some stream 1 peeps will just want to kill one's hope cus they feel they are better. Not judging them, but it's shallow

I didn't have much to do today so i got to do a lot of thinking...


I realised the only reason for this "Stream 1, Stream 2" separation is the inability of a state's camp to hold and cater for large number of Corpers at once. It's that simple o. Just the 2 or 3 weeks Orientation Camp is wat brought about this need for two streams.
So when we look at it more closely, it's d 3 weeks orientation that's making NYSC to put us on hold like this, nothing more o, making us... hmmm.. let me use the word "idle". 2weeks of nonsense orientation is why they keep postponing their destiny not ours. It's painful
Ok, if this is the case, why dont they just set like a week just for us to register and get our kits so we can proceed onto the main service thingy. Abi??
I know a lot of us want to av that 3 weeks experience bt then, if it means us waiting till anoda month end or 2months just to have 3weeks camp experience, wont you just go for a 1week registration and move ahead? My people let's reason it. If this idiots decide to place us on hold till d end of d ramadan fast, it won't be good o nd d way it is, we are heading in dat direction.
Let us use the right cajoling skills and words to tackle NYSC. Let them allow is go to camp even if its for a 1week registration and swearing in programme. We can decide to stay in d camp on our own after that. OYO

To be honest i'm totally disappointed in you guys, for a minute there i questioned myself if this was actually a forum for graduates or a place for touts to utter complete bollocks
DON'T BRING DISUNITY OR RELIGIOUS QUARRELS AMONG THE PEOPLE ON HERE. We all know that never ends well.
Nigeria is a religious country whatever there reasons are for postponing we wont get to camp anytime sooner than that designated by God. so be patient and remember WHAT IS MEANT TO BE WILL ALWAYS COME AT THE RIGHT TIME. NEVER TOO LATE NEVER TOO EARLY.

Hey Groove, calm down, you shouldn't be saying u re disappointed in anyone. I have seen u flair up for no just reason so do not do d disappointed thing. Everyone is tensed if you went through all d comments, you will see a phone conversation where the supposed DG said, he'l have to meet with other management members to consider if the Ramadan should hinder orientation course. That's why people are vexed and they have the right to be vexed so quit it.

We have handled the issue nd we do not need to revisit it bt dont claim disappointment at people's outburst, you've been in that place too.

And the DG only hinted that it "might" be put into consideration bt we do not stand for that. It does not mean we should go all hard on Muslim PCMs. We simply tell the nysc officials that our muslim brethren be excluded from stressful activities. Cmon na, one house please.

You guys should be considerate but the only thing we need to do is to appeal to NYSC to at least exempt the Moslems from the rigorous activities. But come to think of it if camps stands on the 25th then the Muslim fast will be the last two days of camp and that shouldn't be an issue

Even if it runs into the last week of camp, d last week is usually not so stressful. The Muslims can be excused from stressful activities, abi. There really is no excuse for this NYSC people.

any muslim brother or sister that can not combine the two should either voluntarily withraw from going with the stream or ready to suspend fasting in camp. Abah missing only this year fasting can not kill them na. Is their not going to be fasting next year again?

I think what is usually done is to excuse the muslims from the rigorous activities in camp. It's as simple as that.

Dear Sir;

SAVE OUR FUTURE
STOP WASTING OUR PRECIOUS TIME

With due respect to your office and your personality sir, it would be insane of me if I fail to congratulate you on your appointment as the Director General (DG) National Youth Service Corps few months ago by General Muhammadu Buhari (President Federal Republic of Nigeria).
Haven said that, this letter is necessitated and borne out of the untold suffering, heartache and hardship prospective corps members had encountered in the last few months since the beginning of postponement saga.
I felt obliged to tell you sir that " A minute delay can result to a lifetime regret not to talk of spending almost a year at home anticipating for an inconsistent scheme called NYSC.

Sir, many has resigned from the menial work they use to keep the body and soul together with the believe that its about time to serve our Father's land.
What sicken me most is our inability to secure a better employment without NYSC dispatch certificate which is being demanded from us by employers in many organizations and parastatals.
More so,many prospective corps members can not further their education because of this delay.
It is pertinent to let you know that we are being forced to stay idle, and an idle hand they say is the devil's workshop.
Our precious time is being wasted by awaiting an inconsistent system all because of our curiosity and ardent desire to serve our Father's land in humility, patriotism and good faith.
How long shall we continue to wait?
How long shall we continue to hope?
How long shall we continue to anticipate earnestly?
How long shall we be subjected to unwarranted impediment?
Our patience has gotten to its elastic limit.
The hardship in Nigeria is so unbearable for us and it will be inhumane to be punishing the youth and leaders of tomorrow by promising them to continue to wait for what seems to be uncertain and this is not in the best interest of Nigeria graduates.
Sir, we can no longer wait for NYSC to determine the course of our future. As we are awaiting a new date yet to be fixed, it would be another rape on our right as Nigeria graduate if the time frame is so elongated than a week from now.
In lieu with this, as a concerned prospective corps member, I hereby urge and plead the management and staff of National Youth Service Corps headed by your good office to feel our pains and save our future by putting everything in place and in shape so that BATCH A STREAM II corps members can be camped in not more than a week time.
Sir, we know you to be a father and your magnanimous magnanimity is what we expect in this imbroglio in order to save our future because we are the leaders of tomorrow. A timely and urgent intervention is what we crave for.

com to tink of it, nysc batch A camping normally falls withing February/March which happens to b d period of fasting for Christians i mean lent period. I never heard in d past dat camping was postpone because of lent if not ours was delay because of fund. nysc do camp during lent nd nobody ever raise any issue because of dat. So why should people raise issue because of ramadan?

I really do not get it. It's as though we are the ones even giving them excuses. These people are playing with our lives and we are being so simple with it. It's high time youths realise that the future starts now. If you keep allowing this people play with your today, your tomorrow is in jeopardy.

And we wonder why we do not have young PhD holders from Nigerian universities. How can we? When you spend 6-7 years reading a 4year course and 2years for a 1year youth scheme. Just imagine. Even if you got into the university at 16, with all this, you'll hold a BSc at 23-24. Haba, naija
