@rahsumt The srt 4669xii is better becouse it,s has the sound AAC AND AAC+ FROM THE FACTORY ALREADY.THEREBY YOU DID NOT NEED THE UPGRADE PROBLEMS THAT THE SRT 4669X IS FACING.

@ Gadotor
@all

A friend of mine who has just purchased this 4669xii told me he could not get audio for etv and had to download SRT4669XII_7111_ALL_ME_104p_20110112.zip which is obviously not in line with the observation above.
Which is which? Does 4669xii come with or without AAC/AAC+?

@all,

A friend of mine has just bought a 4669xii and was asking me how he can have sound for etv. I have experience for a 4669x (which I have) and have therefore not been very helpful in bailing him out. Those of you who have 4669xii, how is the issue of sound for etv addressed? I have been trying to download SRT4669XII_7111_ALL_ME_102p_20101224.zip
hoping it may take care of this but for some unknown reason downloading is not possible from the site. Pls assist.

Furthermore, SABCs on tp 11674 (Intel 7) are coming scrambled on his 4669xii. The trick I play on my 4669x (i.e. Pressing on remote 6969 then again 6969 for PIN) to bring them out does not work on his 4669xii. Again anyone with solutions, pls come forward.

@all Anyone experience mnet action and blitz tv off-air on 36e
.thank you

@ gadotor

I have also been experiencing frequent loss of signal on the etv/mnet/blits tv tp on Galaxy 11 or Intel 33 degrees east (whichever it is) close to W4/W7 the past two or three days. There was no signal at all the whole of yesterday morning. At first I thought the problem was to do with my set up but I realised Angola tv tp on the same satellite was just fine.

@Candyman, ,I have not tried getting Metro tv.I just can imagine the angle where I get Nss 7 at 22E.,almost hitting the surface with my 1.8m dish but the situation will be more complicated if I go to 37.e.
@ilish
Exactly the point, with NSS7 22 degrees, the dish is almost touching ground. Now Metro and Silverbird are on a satellite located further down.
@all
What trick do you employ people, those of you who are hooked to Metro @ 37.5 degrees west? Otherwise, I would love to catch these two and check their content

metro tv and silverbird on 37.5 degrees west can be picked in our region according to lyngsat maps but I have never succeeded doing so. Have you tried it before? If yes, what's your experience.

For a more stable signal, 90cm is also o.k but i suggest 1meter dish & u can attach the ffings in addition to W6:

-astra2b & badr5 as 1lnb
-Eutelsat w4
-sirus4 (NB:low % of 56%)

@life707

If possible pls arrange for some pics of this setup if you have it in place.

Thanks for your efforts you put towards the recovery of the SABCs. Factory reset was one of the first things that came to mind to sort this problem out but it just did not work.
The keys I entered remained intact after the reset and rescanning brought back encrypted/scrambled SABCs on tp 11673. Over the weekend I decided to ask a friend who also uses 4669x to sms me the keys I replaced so that I can put them back. He did but asked me to try something else before putting the keys back. It is that something that worked and I did not bother putting the keys back.

He told me to select any of the SABC channels affected and simply press 6969 (on the remote)and then enter Pin 6969. And Voila! I got the SABCs back.

Once again thanks for your efforts and tips to get round this problem.

Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 5 - The Final Part) by Candymann: 1:37pm On Nov 26, 2010
@swordswifter

As indicated, I have been watching SABCs on Intel 7/10 all along till two days ago when I attempted to try these keys.

I did not know where to put them after pressing 8282 and getting to the groups( Nagravision, Viaccess, etc, etc)

For trial purposes (after selecting the channel requiring the keys) I went to group 31 which reads Viaccess , Cine+Digital PPV, and entered the keys and saved.

On returning to view, there were no results on the channel I wanted but when I checked on SABCs, I realised they had been scrambled. Of course I am thinking of trying to get the original keys back and see if that can sort this out but what I do not understand is how entering of keys in this particular (Viaccess) group (number 31) has affected SABCs.

No tps were changed and the SABCs signal level remains intact.

I got some Biss Keys after google search and when I got home and tried to enter them, I realised I was not very sure where to put them after pressing 8282 on my remote.

I tried them somewhere anyway and saved but this has affected my SABCs on Intel 7/10 68.5 degrees. They are now all scrambled though the section I entered them is not a Nagravision one.

How can I have the SABCs back in descrambled mode and where do I enter the W3A Biss keys?

I cannot get the Kenyan Mux on Intel 7/10 C Band which was previously on W4/W7 and I just dont know what could be wrong?
Could this be a signal problem? My Aljazeera reads 75%. What does yours read?

What could be the explanation for the same patch/upgrade behaving differently on the same type of (4669x) strong decoder?

Is this a problem with the patch or the decoder(s)?
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 5 - The Final Part) by Candymann: 10:03am On Sep 14, 2010
@CANDYMAN,Combining etv and w4/7 on a 90cm dish is very easy.Use w7 as the main satellite.There after,tie the other lnb just next to the w7 lnb to your left.Start searching the etv signal from that position.It is easy if your are patient.Try it and make the best of it.Email me on: wma21st@gmail.com we talk about Rdv.

@Ilish

I will give it a try whenever I can till I get it right so that I free up my 1.8 m dish which I obviously am underutilising.

I have not tried Badr 6 but I did try W2A the much talked about new african beam on eutelsat 2 @ 10E, 11638 H 27500, mostly French speaking
but found that the channels are scrambled. MGM Portugal and Afromusic on 11663H 3830 remain fta.

On combining 2 KU band LNBs (one for etv and one for W4) on one dish, you sound as if you have done this on a 90 cm one. If yes pls give me a tip on how you did this so that I can free up my 1.8m dish.

@all

Russia Today (RT), a news channel, has been added to W4/W7 which is fast becoming my best bird receivable in my region.

I experienced what you did during upgrade
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 5 - The Final Part) by Candymann: 8:54am On Sep 10, 2010
@iykeman & all
I experienced exactly what you did during upgrade. Unlike the previous one in which the decoder automatically rebooted after upgrading,
I really got worried when after running the AAC_110p upgrade the decoder just went off as if we had lost power. There was just nothing.
Before doing anything I called a friend who had just indicated he had upgraded his successfully without experiencing this. He said he did his upgrade by connecting decoder to computer, while mine was done from flash disk. At that moment I thought I had lost my decoder. It was only when I thought of trying to switch it off then on again that I noticed it was ok and the upgrade had been successful. As people have said, we need to be careful with these upgrades/patches.

In my previous posting I requested for tps for Intel 4 and Atlantic Bird 4 (C band) which is not even listed on lyngsat.

I also wanted to know what kind of channels you are watching from these birds so that I can give them a try this week end.

Pls come back!
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 5 - The Final Part) by Candymann: 1:32pm On Aug 31, 2010
@Ilish,

Thats great.

On your combination, Atlantic Bird 4 C Band attracted my attention. There is no listing of Atlantic Bird 4 C Band on either Flysat or Lyngsat.
What are you watching on that bird? Pls provide me with some tps so that I can give it a try.

Same thing with Intel 904, what kind of channels are you getting since Lyngsat does not list much??

I will continue striving to get my own 10 port Disec, otherwise I am currently using two 4 port disecs connected to my 4669x and Fortec 5400 Receivers.
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 5 - The Final Part) by Candymann: 9:47am On Aug 31, 2010
@Illish
Are 10 port Disec switches readily available in Zambia? I have been hunting for this here in Malawi, in vain.

As for adding Badr 5 to a C Band dish stationed on NSS7, I am not sure of that. But I have tried adding Sirius4 to NSS7, and I think W3A should also work because they are close.

I strongly believe Badr 5 can be added to W4 because they are close. I have W4 with etv on single 1.8m c band dish.

Just experiment and see how it goes.

FTA is all about trying.

Me thinks this etv/eAfrica thing (freq 10985 v 10049) is on Arabsat 30.5 degrees East, because:

1. To get it from my EW4 1.8 m dish position, I rotated the dish anticlockwise and moved it very very slightly down,
    and according to http://www.satsig.net/maps/lat-long-finder.htm, the following is given for my location at Latitude = -13.9833, Longitude = 33.7833

IS 802 33 degrees East is at Beam Elevation 73.5, Azimuth 8.5
Eutelsat W4 36 degrees East is at Beam Elevation 73.4, Azimuth 20.9
Arabsat 30.5 degrees East is at Beam Elevation 73.1, Azimuth 358.4

These support my claim. Otherwise I would have moved the dish very slightly up (if it were IS 802 33 degrees East) and not down.

2. According to a friend, replacing the KU Band lnb with a C Band one at that etv dish position gives channels like Al-Manar TV, which are on Arabsat 30.5
degrees east. Check link http://www.lyngsat.com/arab5a.html
