Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 5 - The Final Part) by Candymann: 4:05pm On Jul 29, 2010
@rextab

Is Badr 26 degrees now receivable in this part of Africa (i.e. Malawi, Zambia, Mocambique)?
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by Candymann: 2:38pm On Jun 18, 2010
@all
There was no signal for STV1 on Sirius last evening, any confirmation

Is anyone able to receive it at the moment??
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by Candymann: 2:28pm On Jun 18, 2010
@blexxonmak

Can you pls clarify what you just said regarding setting S/W Update to OFF on 4669x

You know I was asked by a dealer of Strong where I got mine to do this to avoid losing SABCs saying they had not yet received 'some software' which they needed to install on my box. I obviously obliged but have not yet gone back for this 'software'.

What could this software be since I am watching everything normally according to my knowledge (or possibly lack thereof)?
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by Candymann: 7:41am On Jun 15, 2010
@Jerana15
I do not get much from Sirius4 except for Africa movies shown on STV1 during the evening at 16:00 Hrs GMT almost daily. I think they also show one during the day.
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by Candymann: 1:30pm On Jun 14, 2010
@raw-unkat
The SABC1 I am able to get (together with SABC 2 & 3) is that on Intelsat 7/10 @ 68.5 degrees South Africa beam which covers Angola, Zambia and Malawi going southwards down to South Africa (according to Lyngsat) and I doubt you can get it from your location. The one that I also noticed has been encrypted is that on Sirius 4
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by Candymann: 8:45am On Jun 14, 2010
@Jerana15
Just a small clarification. Viasat 1 is 100% English speaking while TV Africa and TV3 are mostly (but not 100%) English speaking.
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by Candymann: 8:38am On Jun 14, 2010
@Oilepo
I have Intel 906 (C Band) + Intel 7/10 (KU Band) watching SABC 1,2,3 on a fixed 1.8m dish AND NOT W3A.
@Paps1
I also noticed these channels go blank when a game starts and only reappear when it's over. Ghana's TV3 has also been encrypted since world cup started but you see so many channels are showing the world cup and you just have to be well 'positioned' for alternatives.
@Jerana15
NSS7 KU has TV Malawi, Angola 1 (TPA1) and Angola 2 (TPA2), TV Malawi is 60-70 % English channel while TPA2 sometimes shows English movies with Portuguese subtitles, I am not very familiar with their schedule.
NSS7 C has the likes of CNN, France 24, Viasat1, TV3, TV Africa which are English speaking and many more non English channels like TV Algeria, TV Congo, TV Sudan. TV Algeria or Congo is also showing the world cup.
But you need to check the maps on lyngsat.com if these are receivable in your area.
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by Candymann: 7:13am On Jun 11, 2010
@Illish
@Rextab
I only got confirmation SABC signal has been reduced when a friend checked on me if I was able to get the signal indicating so many people are complaining of cracking.

I had forgotten I have just moved my KU LNB to a 1.8m dish alongside Intel 906 C Band LNB hence my experiencing no change. So yes you are right Rextab the change is being experienced on the smaller (60 cm or less) dishesl
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by Candymann: 1:32pm On Jun 10, 2010
@Illish
What is ur exact dish size for W3A? You just said you are using "maximum 90 cm dish" for the rest of ur KU.

As for SABC, I have not noticed any signal change here in Malawi neighbouring Zambia.

Are u sure such is the case or it's just ur setup which has to be looked at?? Are ur neigbours experiencing this change as well??
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by Candymann: 7:02am On Jun 10, 2010
@Rextab
Viasat1, TV3, CNN, TV Africa are on NSS7 C Band while on KU there is Angola (TP1 and TP2) as well as TV Malawi.
By the way Rextab did you say you are able to get MBC 1 & 2 using 60 cm dish from Zambia or it was Zambeat??
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by Candymann: 10:37am On May 26, 2010
@George D

I think I am in a similar situation to that of Ilish who could be using numerous dishes in his compound. I am currently using three 1.8 m and one 60 cm dishes on a single disec switch against no less than ten birds (some of which are Intel 10-02, 906, 902, 7/10, w2a KU, w3a, Sirius, NSS7 KU, NSS7 C, AB 3).

While I have little/no problem catching birds, I have no idea of motorising a dish (which would reduce the number of the dishes in my compound). Worse still, there is nowhere in my vicinity where I can go on familiarisation tour on how this is done

Currently what I do is to assign a dish to birds that are close to one another (e.g. w2a, w3a, Sirius, AB3, Inter 10-2) and mark positions on it and manually change dish positions to particular bird of interest at a given time. Sometimes however I am just too lazy to do the manual movements and furthermore this can disturb the dish positions of given birds.

If I can get the 0/12v switch, it will still save me the hastle of manually changing dish positions every now and then unless I learn how to motorise dish.

@all 69x users,

I have at last got hold of Strong 4669x but I must say I am not very confortable working with it to track birds especially looking at those two bars (signal Strength and Signal Level). Which one is a better guide towards catching a bird??

On my old decoder I just work with Signal Level and it's so easy to track that I have to use it to locate birds and connect back to the 4669x. What's the tip on working with these two (Signal Strength and Level)?

I have also noticed that I can get a max signal level on my Fortec receiver but when I put 4669x I have to do slight adjustments to hit green. Why should there be different results on the same dish position and setup??
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by Candymann: 7:43am On May 13, 2010
@all on ew7 (36degrees East)

What are the tps for NTV? I want to try manual input as I can only get NTV TV @ 72% using 69x and the others after blindscanning but not NTV.

What is your dish size?
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by Candymann: 10:57am On May 07, 2010
@rextab
I also just got 69x after struggling for so long. Only got hooked to W2a for a week then it got encrypted.
Just like u, I moved to 36 degrees east and indeed NTV is cracking a lot and is worse in the evening unlike the others like NTV TV which are crystal clear.

I understand this is being experienced by quite a number of people.

@ALL

Whats ur experience.
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by Candymann: 8:44am On Apr 26, 2010
@ 69x Users
I have just acquired Strong 4669x and as expected went on to try W2A 10 degrees East (C Band).

I can however only get the 3951 tp package whereas I am getting zero signal on the other tps. Blindscanning is only giving results on that single tp @ 65% signal strength and I cannot get it better than that.

Whats your experience and how strong is your signal? Any tips?? I will really feel good if I get the full package.

there is kbc1. family tv and k24 on 57 degrees KU
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by Candymann: 10:04am On Feb 05, 2010
@prince paris

I tried this bird (57 degrees) last evening and got those channels. They are not mpeg4.
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by Candymann: 1:57pm On Feb 04, 2010
@Ibaku
Can I confirm with you. I failed to catch KBC1, K24 and Family TV on Intel 802 33 Degrees East.
You mean I can equally get these on 57 degrees East? And they are not Mpeg4?
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by Candymann: 7:52am On Feb 03, 2010
@Ibaku
I use a 1.8m dish (and a Combined KU+C Band Strong LNB) for MGM which sometimes I also use to catch KTN on 5W Eutelsat 3 (C Band). As for Signal level, initially I was getting as high as 80% (for MGM). These days it has dropped to 40-46%. I have not bothered to chek what could be the cause because I still get clear pictures even at 33% and there are only 2 channels on this bird anyway.

It's the same dish I use for Sirius4 and till last month W3A. These days I cannot get MBC on W3A after the signal level dropped to about 20-26 %.
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by Candymann: 3:55pm On Feb 02, 2010
@iykemann
MGM Portugal is English speaking movie channel with Portuguese subtitles. Afromusic mostly plays music from Portuguese speaking countries like Mozambique and Angola. I have however observed that there is too much repetition in the movies they show.
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by Candymann: 2:30pm On Jan 28, 2010

many thanks. will try out the tps this evening.

What are the tps for Top tv on Sirius where you watch SABCs
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by Candymann: 8:31am On Jan 28, 2010
@kcbenjamin
I am on W2A 10E but KU band where I watch MGM Portugal.
To catch it I used Sirius4 where I watch STV1 as my starting point.
Standing behind dish move it slowly clockwise and then slightly up.
You can also use W3A which is even closer to W2A than Sirius4

Those of you who are hooked to or have tried it, are KTN, KBC Channel One and NTV fta on W4/W7 (at 36E) or not? According to Flysat they are encrypted but on Lyngsat they come out as fta. Which is which?? I tried Intel 802 on 33E last weekend in vain. Will try W4/W7 this weekend!

@ameboperoo
what are the tps for this e channel on sirius? I want to give it a try??

@all
anyone on intel 802 at 33E? What are the directions like? Whats the reference point or closest bird to it?
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by Candymann: 9:09am On Jan 23, 2010
@ameboperoo
I am using a 1.8 m one for W2 which I was previously using for C Band. But w2 is on KU band just like Sirius and W3A so I should think a 90 cm dish should do.
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by Candymann: 3:54pm On Jan 21, 2010
@Ibaku
to catch MGM Portugal on Eutelsat W2A i use Sirius 4 as my reference point. Standing behind the dish, you raise it up just a little (from Sirius4) and turn it clockwise again just a little. The three (Sirius, W2A and W3A) are close to each other. Use frq 11663 and sr 3830 to catch MGM and Afro Music Channel.

Whats the simplest way for catching Silverbird and Metro TV on NSS10, 37.5 degrees West? Whats the nearest bird I can use as a starting (reference point)?

I am hearing now that there is new sr for itv, eatv etc. I was watching these channels this morning on the same 8545 before leaving home. Are you sure they have changed or there is a problem with your setup?
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by Candymann: 1:35pm On Dec 29, 2009

I am able to pick sirius here in Malawi but I am using a 1.8 m dish I was previously using for Atlantic Bird 3 (C Band). I have never tried a 90cm one but I am sure it should work.
