Education / How to Choose the Perfect Course to Study in Nigeria : The Ultimate Guide by Canih28: 1:28pm On Sep 04
Determining the course to study in Nigeria involves several important considerations, especially given the unique educational and economic landscape in the country.

Here's a step-by-step guide on how to make this decision:

1. Self-Assessment:

Interests:
Consider what subjects or activities you enjoy most. Your interests often align with fields you'll be passionate about.
Strengths:
Identify your strengths in certain subjects (e.g., sciences, arts, social sciences). If you're strong in a subject, you're likely to perform well in a related course.
Career Goals:
Think about your long-term career aspirations. Certain courses are directly tied to specific career paths (e.g., studying Medicine to become a doctor).

2. Research on Courses and Career Opportunities:

Course Content:
Look into the details of courses that interest you. What will you learn? Does it match your interests and strengths?
Career Prospects:
Research the job market for graduates of those courses. Some fields may offer better job prospects or higher demand in Nigeria (e.g., engineering, ICT, healthcare).
Industry Growth:
Consider industries expected to grow in Nigeria, such as technology, agriculture, and
renewable energy, which may offer more opportunities.

3. Consider the Nigerian Educational System:

Accreditation:
Ensure that the course and the institution offering it are accredited by relevant bodies (e.g., NUC, COREN, MDCN).
University Reputation:
Some universities are known for excellence in specific courses. Research which institutions have strong programs in the fields you're interested in.
Cut-Off Marks:
Check the required cut-off marks for the course at different universities, especially for competitive courses like Medicine or Law.

4. Economic and Social Factors:

Affordability:
Consider the cost of tuition and living expenses. Some courses may require more resources for materials or fieldwork.
Location:
Think about the location of the university. Some regions have better facilities, job opportunities, or living conditions.
Support Systems:
Consider the availability of scholarships, financial
aid, and family support. Also, think about the support systems in place at your chosen institution (e.g., mentorship programs).

5. Seek Guidance:

Career Counselors:
Talk to career counselors in your secondary school or educational consultants who understand the Nigerian context.
Professionals in the Field:
Speak to professionals currently working in the fields you're interested in. They can offer insights into the realities of the job market and what skills are needed.
Alumni Networks:
Reach out to alumni of the courses you're considering. They can provide firsthand experiences of the course and its relevance in the job market.

6. Consider Personal Values
and Passions
:

Job Satisfaction vs. Salary:
Some students prioritize high-paying careers, while others value job satisfaction and work-life balance. Determine what matters more to you.
Impact:
Consider whether you want to work in a field where you can make a significant social or environmental impact.

7. Flexibility and Further Education:

Further Studies:
Consider whether the course allows for further specialization or postgraduate opportunities. Some fields require advanced degrees for significant career advancement.
Alternative Pathways:
Be open to alternative educational pathways, such as technical and vocational education and training (TVET) or professional certifications, especially in fields like ICT.

8. Market Trends and Future-Proofing:

Emerging Fields:
Explore emerging fields such as data science, renewable energy, and cybersecurity, which may offer more opportunities in the future.
Adaptability:
Choose a course that equips you with versatile skills, allowing you to pivot if market conditions change.

9. University Admission Requirements:

UTME and O-Level Requirements:
Ensure you meet the specific subject requirements for your chosen course in both UTME (Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination) and O-Level exams (WAEC/NECO).
Post-UTME Screening:
Prepare for the post-UTME screening process, which is required by most Nigerian universities.

By carefully evaluating these factors,
you can make a more informed decision on which course to study in Nigeria, aligning your education with your interests, strengths, and future career aspirations

So you forgot about economy, insecurity, corruption, and all types of problems with “Nigeria”… and yet you are talking about redesigning flag.

You people are like Children.

No wonder White people call you NIGGERS as in NIGGER AREA

The national anthem was changed and you folded your arms doing nothing about that... spits
With this attitude you have displayed here pls go take a seat under bridge because that is where those kind of people belong.

Hi Individual Nairalanders and "Virtual" E-Legislators.
I Advocate a Re-plan of that "Boring" Green with a cut of white.

Its about time we the young take our fate in our
hands. The banner was planned in the period of pastels utilizing little imagination. Presently we approach Programming.

Lets start an Imaginative, Productive, Cutthroat
Mission and Pass it to the "Blocks and cement
Senate". I actually accept that Nairaland is greater than the Senate. The Virtual (Profound) Senate
Supercedes the Physical.

Presently the Ongoing Banner can Develop "Green" with Jealousy.
Here are a portion of my plans, which of them would be better;
• first banner •
• second banner •
• third banner •
• fourth banner • (separately)

We really want a banner that addresses our with style and significance, not outright paints of varieties.

You can post your own plans here!

You think they do anything for your own benefit?

UK will use you and after 30years, all you can claim to your name is that you have pension to pay rent.

Once they detect that immigrants are taking up juicy jobs they have envisioned for Citizens only, they come up with another policy.

Very smart people who know how to use others to make their country work.

Till today, I cannot count 5 Nigerians who made it big in UK outside of sports. Even the Nigerians in UK entertainment had to go to the USA to make it big.

All are just surviving.

Same cannot be said about the USA and the opportunities that abound for legal migrants.

Nigerian professionals change jobs in the US as fast as a dirty area boy changes his boxers. But for UK, Segun and Emeka still work in the same company that managed to employ them 10years ago without anything tangible to show for it.

Lose that UK job, and you will know that there are no other jobs to get in the UK.

UK?

Yuck!

You striked the nail on its head right here

Business / Re: When Did You Make Your First Million Naira ? by Canih28: 9:49am On Jun 13, 2022
ecomalchemist:
Mid 2021.

One burger for government house give me small job to supply 500pcs of 40,000mah power bank.

Made N2,000 profit on each sale, since then I never looked back. Carried the hustle on my head like a market woman selling OKPA.

Re invested the profits into more powerbanks, teamed up with a friend, we created a dropshipping group of over 1000 people (that's the multiplier effect)..this model generates ca$#### daily on steroids...

You can't be broke.

I went digital with running facebook and instagram ads, google ads, twitter ads, Search Engine Optimization, Google My Business..that's a plus. (Message me if you need the advertising courses).

That was the game changer...I just wanted daily income no matter how small...I hated 9 - 5 with all of my heart.

I wanted to be FREE fam !

The rest the say is history. One product can take your from 0 to 100 real quick. Trust the process, keep grinding, do numbers and remain humble.

I deal on powerbanks, still raising capital to venture into car battery, inverter and Generator battery.

Bastard money dey this country, make God open your eyes...left 9 - 5 for good...feels good running a business and making daily income.

By his grace, i should be doing 50k daily profit with facebook and instagram ads !!!

I no get money but I go like do biz...this one is for you !

Take a course on Marketing and Sales.<

Learn how to sell.

Find someone who is doing a business and making sales offline. You’ll find many of them in Onitsha, Computer village, Aba, Alaba, Aspamda, Idumota, etc.
Most of these people have no idea what goes on online. They also do not care what goes on online.

All they care about is making sales and getting
money flowing into the business daily.

Be their online person.

Bring their business online, and advertise to those who want what they sell.

You will make money doing this.
You’ll make a lot of money doing this.

As a woman, you can open an online shop for that woman selling lace in Aba, and add money on top onto for yourself. That’s your own profit on every sale.
As a guy, you can open an online store store for that man selling computers at Computer village.

Read information from Google and publish content about computers and what people should look out for before buying a laptop.
More people would begin to reach out to you when need laptops.

Reach out to that guy who makes shoes and footwear in your neighborhood and be their online guy.
Promote what they make online and add your own profit.

Look around you, look where others are neglecting, you’ll find a gem.

You can’t afford to be idle for long.
You can’t afford to stay broke.
You can’t afford to continue earning a meagre salary every month.

You don’t need to be a genius to make money online, and have a better life.

Look for a business that is offline, bring it online and get them SALES.

You will make a lot of money.
Not just money...

You will build your confidence.
Your influence will grow, and...
You’ll attract more opportunities to yourself.
You need to start operating smartly.

Look for a business that is offline, bring it online and get them SALES.

I remember back then in school when those children from poor families used to tell me that no course is useless. A lot of them were studying biochemistry microbiology and co.

I didn't believe, I focused more on my skills and started earning six figures by my second year in school....

Today I'm hitting more than half a million back to back and they are secondary school teachers...

Education is great but if you're not very intelligent, get a skill or get smart.... You'll need them....

Many courses in Nigerian Universities are useless, you will not know until you graduate.

Wake up

if there is a way you can list all of them
it will be helpful for the next prospective students
