Politics / Saudi Executions: Implications For Nigeria by canuck(m): 9:30am On Jan 04, 2016
With the recent executions in Saudi, including that of Sheikh Nimr, a prominent Shiite cleric and critic of the Saudi royal family, there could be possible implications for Nigeria:

1) Nigeria, with majority of her Muslims being Sunnis, may be emboldened to execute Sheikh El Zak-Zaky, the Nigerian Shiite cleric arrested last month;

2) Adherents of extreme Wahhabism in the North or their Shiite counterparts may feel the need to take up arms;

3) Oil prices may start going up due to the unprecedented tension in the Middle East.

What are your thoughts?

My brother there is absolutely nothing wrong with your wife...the problem is with you. Now let me try to explain.

Your wife is behaving like a normal woman and that's how they were created. The problem is that you didn't created boundaries in your relationship.

Most women are created to be loyal and submissive now couple that with a man that disvirgined them or a man that is better than you in bed, what you get is an over loyal woman even when she don marry someone else.

Now you may be her husband quite all right but as long as you didn't set strict boundaries that are supposed to checkmate her past loyaltys you are in for this type of Mary go round.

I assure u that your wife loves you but why she removed her ring I believe she has already told you, and from her answer it looks like u caused it too. Some people believed in do me I do you god no go vex. That's if she was telling the truth about her true reason.

My girlfriend can not make the mistake of chatting with an ex not to talk of my wife.
She can not even wish him a happy birthday, she can't have his number on her phone, she can't pick his calls o! She can not interact with him through any media possible. She just can't simple.

For me its better my girl friend cheats on me with another man than with an ex. I will forgive her immediately if she sleeps with someone else I no go even think am too much...but with an ex? The relationship is over o! I hate ex's pass devil o! And she knows . she can not try any form of communication with ex o! Becos the wahala that will result she won't survive it.
These are the kind of boundaries you for don set since b4 una even marry. As in eeh the first time she even chat with the ex u for break that your flat screen TV for parlour and her mirror for room and her phone so that she go know say ex's na no go area.
Then if she flirt with a neutral guy just do like say e no pain u too much so that she will be able to differentiate ex's temper from neutral guys temper. You see she don dey understand u grin

There is a school of thought out there that NO ONE is eligible to earn over $50-$100Million a year! The argument is simple: No single individual is that valuable because the successes of the organization are traceable to its army of employees, not the top dog.

Sounds reasonable or it does not matter?

This an extremely stupid and irresponsible thing for a head of state to call his own country an unofficial state of another country. If i were from Benin Rep. I'd be very offended and worried. It shows how little African leaders know about what a country is or is supposed to be.

I hear you; President Yayi was neither presidential nor statesman-like by saying Rep of Benin is the 37th state of Nigeria.

I guess he knows Nigerians are generally pompous and he said what we'd like to hear grin

A Canadian Prime Minister who says the country is the 51st state of the US will be called back/impeached by his Riding (or constituency) ASAP. However, in international politics and global economics, Canada IS the unofficial 51st of the US - Even at US airports today, Canadians are directed to the "US Citizens Only" line and the Canadian passport works on the immigration scanning machines exactly like a US passport! So, who is fooling who now? LOL!

Politics / How Nigeria Could Acquire Neighbouring Republic Of Benin by canuck(m): 1:04pm On May 15, 2015
Following a meeting with President-Elect Buhari yesterday, Republic of Benin's President, Mr. Thomas Boni Yayi said, "‎Benin is the 37th state of Nigeria, and 55 percent of population in Benin comes from Nigeria, you know I am at home here." (See: https://www.nairaland.com/2315626/benin-republic-nigerias-37th-state#33757625)

It got me thinking that a forward-looking government in Nigeria could consider acquiring Republic of Benin!

Yeah, yeah, what has Nigeria done with its population of 170 million that an additional 10 million would hold out any benefit? Answer: I did say "forward-looking", so the benefits will be in the future. In international land matters and demographics economics, more is supremely better than less.

Referencing the experience of the US, there are at least 5 options open to Nigeria:

(1) Negotiate a purchase like some US territorial acquisitions >> A somewhat fair price is negotiated and paid, but the buying country usually has the power in negotiation
- Alaska bought from Russia for $7.2 million in 1867 (equivalent to $121 million in present day terms)
- Puerto Rico+Guam+The Philippines bought from Spain for $20 million in 1898 (equivalent to $567 million in present day terms)
- Louisiana bought from France for $15 million in 1803 (equivalent to $236 million in present day terms)

(2) Open Ended Lease. . .for pittance >> Basically exercise ownership rights on the land for nothing; keep your military base close just in case
- Guantánamo Bay leased from Cuba in 1901 for $2,000 in U.S. gold coins per year, renegotiated in 1934 to $4,085/year

(3) Direct Annexation. . .because you are bigger >> Here, you are "chancing" the smaller country and taking its land
- Texas annexation in 1845 (Crimea moves)

(4) Indirect Annexation. . .have someone else do the dirty job >> Give some time for the dust to settle, then absorb the proxy government
- A group of businessmen funded a coup that overthrew Hawaii's Queen Lili'uokalani in 1893. Initially, the US turned down a request by the new government for annexation (wink-wink). Five years later, Hawaii joined the US and all its citizens given US citizenship.

(5) Military Conquest. . .bring out the big guns and damn the consequences >> Survival of the fittest, biggest and strongest
- Mexican Cessation Lands comprising California was lost by Mexico to the US following the Mexican–American War of 1846–48

We could make President Yayi's wish a reality after all! LOL!

What do you think?

Politics / Intercepted Calls: Russia-backed Rebels Admitted Downing The Plane In Error by canuck(m): 7:30am On Jul 18, 2014
One phone call apparently was made at 4:40 p.m. Kyiv time, or 20 minutes after the plane crash, by Igor Bezler, who the SBU says is a Russian military intelligence officer and leading commander of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic. He reports to a person identified by Ukraine’s SBU as a colonel in the main intelligence department of the general headquarters of the armed forces of the Russian Federation Vasili Geranin regarding the shot down plane, which is about to be examined by the militants.

The second intercepted conversation released by the Security Service of Ukraine was apparently between militants nicknamed “Major” and “Greek” immediately upon inspection of the crash site.

“It’s 100 percent a passenger (civilian) aircraft,” Major is recorded as saying, as he admitted to seeing no weapons on site. “Absolutely nothing. Civilian items, medicinal stuff, towels, toilet paper.”

In the third part of conversation Cossack commander Nikolay Kozitsin talking to an unidentified militant cynically suggests that the Malaysia Airlines airplane could've been carrying spies, as, otherwise, it would have no business flying in that area.

Read the full transcript of an intercepted phone call below:

Igor Bezler: We have just shot down a plane. Group Minera. It fell down beyond Yenakievo (Donetsk Oblast).
Vasili Geranin: Pilots. Where are the pilots?
IB: Gone to search for and photograph the plane. Its smoking.
VG: How many minutes ago?
IB: About 30 minutes ago.

SBU comment: After examining the site of the plane the terrorists come to the conclusion that they have shot down a civilian plane. The next part of the conversation took place about 40 minutes later.
“Major”: These are Chernukhin folks who shot down the plane. From the Chernukhin check point. Those cossacks who are based in Chernukhino.
“Grek”: Yes, Major.
"Major": The plane fell apart in the air. In the area of Petropavlovskaya mine. The first “200” (code word for dead person). We have found the first “200”. A Civilian.
“Greek”: Well, what do you have there?
“Major”: In short, it was 100 percent a passenger (civilian) aircraft.
“Greek”: Are many people there?
“Major”: Holy sh__t! The debris fell right into the yards (of homes).
“Greek”: What kind of aircraft?
“Major”: I haven’t ascertained this. I haven’t been to the main sight. I am only surveying the scene where the first bodies fell. There are the remains of internal brackets, seats and bodies.
“Greek”: Is there anything left of the weapon?
“Major”: Absolutely nothing. Civilian items, medicinal stuff, towels, toilet paper.
“Greek”: Are there documents?
“Major”: Yes, of one Indonesian student. From a university in Thompson.

Militant: Regarding the plane shot down in the area of Snizhne-Torez. It’s a civilian one. Fell down near Grabove. There are lots of corpses of women and children. The Cossacks are out there looking at all this.

They say on TV it’s AN-26 transport plane, but they say it’s written Malaysia Airlines on the plane. What was it doing on Ukraine’s territory?

Nikolay Kozitsin: That means they were carrying spies. They shouldn’t be f…cking flying. There is a war going on.

Politics / Tukur’s Imposition Of Cousin Started PDP Crisis — Nyako by canuck(m): 4:18pm On Jan 05, 2014
Adamawa State Governor, Murtala Nyako, spoke with some journalists on his defection from the PDP, the state of emergency and other issues. JOHN ALECHENU was there

Some people are saying you committed political blunder by moving to APC. Do you agree?

If I like it (or not), my running for political office is over. Am I going to contest as governor again? Did anyone tell you I want to be a senator? I told David Mark, in front of President Goodluck Jonathan that God forbid me seeking to be a senator. I am not participating in this game.

Secondly, they started saying I wanted my son to contest as governor. I had to come out and tell them, I promise you on my word of honour, I am not supporting my son for governor in 2015, he is not contesting. Neither is my wife.

Political parties must continually evolve. In those days you could get away — and some of them in the past got away with this level of impunity — and nobody challenged them. Democratic culture must be developed from top to bottom and people down below should have a right to select their unit leadership and their ward leadership.

The practice of rigging election or anybody coming out to say I am putting this person at the local government or House of Assembly, has to stop.

What was the genesis of the crisis in the PDP in Adawama, which led to your defection?

We had a bye-election here, we finished the primary on a Saturday and on Monday morning, the Chairman, sitting down in Abuja, sends the name of his distant cousin on his mother’s side, who never contested in the election primaries as the candidate for that election and Independent National Electoral Commission, which witnessed the primaries and the party headquarters, which witnessed the primaries, didn’t shout to say ‘no, we did not witness this man as the winner.’

The PDP hierarchy is corrupting our security and judicial institutions by the day. They can corrupt INEC, they can corrupt the Nigerian Police; otherwise, how can you explain a situation where governors were meeting, one DPO was sent by his boss to come and tell them to disperse.

You say you wanted us to sit down and reconcile with you, we sat down to discuss what action to take: whether to reconcile or not to reconcile with you and you sent a DPO to us.

This level of anarchy is it not worse than ‘I, brigadier so and so; on behalf of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic, all you bastards are gone now!” We cannot wait for that, the people must see we are self-correcting ourselves. Self-correcting the political system, we will not accept this level of impunity. It’s not just Adamawa. I have craw-craw on my foot for fighting in Bonny during the civil war, it has not gone yet, I was commanding officer of NNN Akpe. There was fire dropping all over me, all over my ship! You want me and my children to go through that hell of fire again?

Was there an agreement between President Jonathan and northern governors for him to serve for only one term?

In the first place, when that agreement was brought for me to sign, I told them that in the agreement signed in 2003, this President was number 73 (Obasanjo was there). We agreed that the terms 2007 and 2011 belonged to the North. He was number 73 at that time; he was the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa. So, when they came, they said I should sign. They said he had agreed he would sign that he would not contest in the year 2015. In the first place, I said I did not believe him because he did not give his pledge for the agreement signed in the year 2003, they said ‘ah, ah Baba Maimangoro,’ I said ok, I will sign. So I signed.

Who brought the agreement?

The Niger State governor was there, the Katsina State governor was there, all of them, northern governors, were there. They were there trying to get our support for Jonathan. The Niger State governor took it to him and he signed. Obj (Obasanjo) will tell you, he came here and sitting here pleading with me to support Jonathan in 2011. Jonathan came here and virtually took an oath to serve only one term.

Did Obasanjo come with Jonathan?

Absolutely! That he was going to serve for only one term. So, when he went back to Obasanjo to seek for his support for 2015, Obj asked him, ‘How? You came here, you promised me in the year 2011 and I went country-wide to get you support.’ I told all of them, Obasanjo told us that he had promised that it was only one term that he was going to do.

Who has that agreement now?

The Niger State governor has the agreement. We want to deal with people with honour. Not people who want to drag us into civil war because of impunity, because of lawlessness, because of not fulfilling their pledges that will only take us to civil war in this country. Leaders must be honest with their colleagues and must be honest with the greater society. I have my craw-craw from the first civil war, and if there is the need to develop another craw-craw in another civil war, I will stand by.

Celebrities / Miley Cyrus Says People Stop Having Sex After 40 by canuck(m): 4:54pm On Oct 08, 2013
As reported on TMZ, Cyrus, 20, appeared on NBC’s Today show in New York this morning, wearing tiny white shorts and a large, blingy chain necklace, in support of her new album Bangerz.

In the requisite sit-down segment, host Matt Lauer obviously had to ask about her drawing media attention for being a sexualized pop superstar more in the vein of Rihanna than Cyrus’s former wholesome TV persona of Hannah Montana.

As Lauer gingerly put it: “This sexual side of you that we’re seeing a lot of right now, something that’s going to be here a while, then you move on to something else?”

To which Cyrus, without missing a beat, impishly replied:“Well, I heard that when you turn 40, things start to go a little less sexual.”
Lauer countered with mock indignation and said, “Don’t say that!” But Miley just kept going.

“Probably around 40,” she continued. “Around that time I heard that’s when people don’t have sex any more. So I guess maybe around then.”

When Lauer revealed that he was 55, Cyrus responded with a rather unsympathetic, “Oh, well, then you’re really definitely not sexual.”
In recent months, Cyrus has been making headlines with her outrageous behaviour.

Pit bulls are likely the most dangerous dogs and also the most controversial pets because of the high number of attacks.

Pit bulls will lock their jaw and not let go until their victim is dead. The huge amount of pressure into their jaw makes it impossible to pry it open.

They need to be properly trained and should never be provoked.
