Sports › Re: Nigeria Vs Argentina: Olympics Basketball (79 - 93) On 4th August 2012 by canuck(m): 12:46pm On Aug 03, 2012
I wish D'Tigers all the best against Argentina.

Yesterday's match was like a rag-tag machete-carrying militia versus the army of a Super Power!

But posting 73 points against the US side yesterday is not a mean feat; only problem was our defence was overran. Twenty nine 3-point shots! Come on! There's no defence for that firepower.

If we tighten defence and post 70+ points tomorrow, Argentina may be in for a tough game.
Foreign Affairs › Re: Anderson Cooper Admits That He's Gay by canuck(m): 2:54pm On Jul 03, 2012
OlaAjia: Interesting line of thought. Your logic is disjointed to say the least. By your logic, people's sexuality is linked to their background being troubled (or not). How does this reconcile with the reality of those who didn't have a troubled background, yet still turned out gay, or those who had troubled background and never turned out gay?
SimonAndal: And what's your point?
In my original post, I said, "Go figure!". . .and you couldn't? Tough. Move on; nothing to see here!

Politics › Re: How The PDP “won” Edo Governorship By Okey Ndibe. by canuck(m): 12:53pm On Jul 03, 2012
Rigging may only work if the election is a close race. If Edo State voters decide against PDP (or ACN) in a big way, no one can successful rig in that scenario.

So, if Oshiomole has done a good job, as an incumbent, he certainly has nothing to fear.

Remember, GEJ was Chairman of Soludo's election campaign; he personally flagged it off. He was ably supported by Chris/Andy Uba and an army of PDP top shots - At the end of the day, my Anambra bros kicked them all to the curb.

The article has paranoia written all over it. Or is it an electioneering tactic to get voters (Oshiomole's sympathizers) to come out to vote en mass?

Foreign Affairs › Re: Anderson Cooper Admits That He's Gay by canuck(m): 12:37pm On Jul 03, 2012
Anderson Cooper is from a very wealthy but troubled background.

It is common knowledge that his multi-millionaire Dad and socialite Mom never had time for their 2 boys - Carter & Anderson -The first son committed suicide, the second son is gay! Go figure!

The punk said of his experience on our continent: "Africa was a place to forget and be forgotten in"

Politics › Re: Nigeria Power Supply Will Be Among Best 20 By 2020 – Jonathan by canuck(m): 4:03pm On Jun 29, 2012
sharp man: Ode!!!

GEJ simply meant to say that we should not expect stable power supply during his time as president.
grin Kai! Naija peeps! True to your name - Shaaaaaaarp Man! grin
Politics › Re: Dasuki Vows To Pacify North In 3 Weeks by canuck(m): 3:55pm On Jun 29, 2012
afam4eva: This guy should be sacked with immediate alacrity. This is just one of talks meant to cool the nerves of Nigerians. Has he forgotten that Jonathan mentioned june sometime ago.
Dasuki's statement sounds like a hasty thing to say coming from someone who was last active in intelligence matters 20 years ago.

But then, he may know what we don't know.

The next few days will tell.

Politics › Re: Dasuki Vows To Pacify North In 3 Weeks by canuck(m): 3:49pm On Jun 29, 2012
Free Ramadan ram for everyone, or whatever will work, he should do it!

The solution is definitely not JTF - It's something more sublime.

I sincerely hope Dasuki solves this. That will be a huge win for GEJ.

We can then tackle productive and developmental issues.

Nairaland General › Re: Lagosians Use Canoes As Floods Hit Lagos (Pictures) by canuck(m): 3:13pm On Jun 29, 2012
Sijo01: They will need speed boat to go through this.
This is serious o!!! No wonder Lagos landlords invariably choose the top apartments for themselves grin

Politics › Re: N96m Lawan Bribe: I Collected Money Not Bribe by canuck(m): 2:10pm On Jun 29, 2012
Demdem: Let the courts determine this. i wonder why and what the security agents are doing?
I wonder. . .I just wonder.

We have a thing for drama in Nigeria. The actual prosecution of this case takes the backseat to the unfolding drama.

Politics › Re: Nigeria Power Supply Will Be Among Best 20 By 2020 – Jonathan by canuck(m):
Dpeacemaker101: And they say GEJ is not working? May God grant you the will to do more my president.
Mandelaguy: By the ime haters come here, they will not read the post or get a full handle on the news
See, folks, it's really not about hating but a burning desire to see TANGIBLE results of democracy in our country.

I took your advise to heart and read the short 280-word article 10 times, and I still do not see anything other than promises.

Nigerians are jaded and cynical because we've been hearing "Better life by 1990" "Good life by 2000" "Heavenly life by 2010", now "Powered life by 2020"

GEJ represents all that disappointment and he is the lightening rod taking all the hit - If he indeed he proves cynics wrong, the cynic camp will lay desolate.

Until then, GEJ and his die-hard supporters (I used to be one, and I am still ever ready to support a winner GEJ) should huncker down and get ready to be battered by Nigerians.

Politics › Re: Bombardment Of Nairaland With 'Paid' Government Apologists ? by canuck(m): 1:35pm On Jun 29, 2012
dedeike: it's obvious you are paid to jump frm one thread to another to distort facts and broadcast falsehood. I have noticed that severally. So many times when a serious debate will be ongoing, you will resort to diverting attention with this your new pple gist. You came short of calling me a new person in the other thread.I just laughed because I'm so sure you many never hve learnt to use a laptop when I joined Nairaland. Please tell your paymasters that Nairaland is a forum for the cross pollination of ideas by intellectuals. It's not a safe heaven for pedestrian critics. You carefully dodge issues and chase shadows, that is why somebody on the other thread labelled you a confusionist or something. Pls grow up and stop sounding like a broken record.
This long epistle on me?! Stop wasting your time abeg

I completely missed the conversion of the broken fridge into an "ocean going" vessel!

If Warri no dey carry last, Lagos for show must to carry first! grin

Nairaland General › Re: Lagosians Use Canoes As Floods Hit Lagos (Pictures) by canuck(m): 1:24pm On Jun 29, 2012
See opportunistic entrepreneurs at work! Whao. Industry springing up right before your eyes.

Apart from the canoes (which the people definitely pay for), entrepreneurs without canoes are carrying "passengers" on their backs and shoulders! Jeeeesu!

The sad epilogue is that once the rainy season is over, both the people and the government will promptly forget about the pains and learning from the preventable flood and go off to play.

Politics › Re: Picture Of Gej In His Younger Years And Now. A Big Difference by canuck(m):
gegee: how many times una go put up this picture
First time I'm seeing this, so re-posts have their benefits.

@OP: Young president looks cool jor. Doesn't he look as good as Obama in his younger days too?

I would have loved to see a pic with a full image sha - Just to confirm if he indeed had NO SHOES! cheesy

Shouldn't you have a cut-out pic to go with that? No fall my hand o smiley
Politics › Re: Bombardment Of Nairaland With 'Paid' Government Apologists ? by canuck(m): 5:49pm On Jun 28, 2012
Tony Spike: Can we safely say that the government noticed a large number of Nairaland users are recalcirant critics? Otherwise, how can we explain the rate of infiltration of Nairaland by these desperate apologists?
Hahahaaa. . .I likey! True, we also know the Sahara-Reporters-wanna-be amongst us - They are waiting for Sowore to send them a visa and ticket to the US.

Beaf: I see that there is a winsh meeting to silence opposing views!
LOL! Beaf, I hail o.

Talking about winsh: We are only connecting the winsh's cry of last night with the death of the baby this morning smiley

Christianity Etc › Re: “ GEJ To Bankrupt Nigeria” Sermon: Police Looking For Pastor Bakare by canuck(m): 5:39pm On Jun 28, 2012
Pastor Bakare definitely has his excesses. Calling him for questioning is no big deal. Bakare is a big boy and does not need his mummy; he can handle his own with security officials as he has done in tougher political terrains.

I actually don't see anything wrong in this invitation.

Next. . .

Christianity Etc › Re: “ GEJ To Bankrupt Nigeria” Sermon: Police Looking For Pastor Bakare by canuck(m): 5:30pm On Jun 28, 2012
Deprofessional: Why didn't GEJ question BUHARI. For God's sake Buhari ordered the massacre of innocent citizens after the 2011 elections. Buhari bankrolled and is still bankrolling the Boko Haram. Even if he is not involved, he knows those involved.

Why arrest a man who simply stated the truth about the state of this country. GEJ should arrest and prosecute Buhari, at least for making unguarded utterances, that incited some Islamic animals to unleash death to harmless people.

Honestly, I am full support of disintegration of Nigeria. Anything that will severe us away from the north is welcome.
Watch how you ask intelligent questions o. NL newbies, like Naijagunner83, who joined the Forum exactly 4 days ago will say you're confusing things.

Abeg, dumb it down several notches for dem cheesy

oddy4real: But when new registrants join the train of people who know nothing but curse the President for no reason, dat is okay, right?
If 99% of a new registrants posts are curses on GEJ, then we know he/she is a Sahara Reporter! cheesy

Christianity Etc › Re: “ GEJ To Bankrupt Nigeria” Sermon: Police Looking For Pastor Bakare by canuck(m): 5:20pm On Jun 28, 2012
Billyonaire: If Bakare made that statement in China, but now he would have been imprisoned. Political leaders must at all cost strive to Unite and not disintegrate. Bakare is using his Church as a political rallying point and needs to be shutdown, Freedom of Speech has limitations in every democracy....
Give Nigerians the level of development and acceleration in China, and they will accept the tough political landscape of that Communist stronghold.

Until then, to your tents O Israel!

Yeap! I have. Majority of them registered within the last 4-5 months too - Check their NL profiles!

We now know what it means when a clueless govt says it's into "job creation"! Simply disgusting.

Politics › Re: Ur Opinions On Things GEJ Has Done Wrong So Far While In Aso Rock by canuck(m): 5:13pm On Jun 28, 2012
The entire storage capacity of NL is unable to hold the list of things GEJ has done wrong if enough folks comment.

Now, to what he has done right because that is such a short list: Ermm. . .Ummm. . .I need more time. BRB.

oyb: these newly minted gej noisemakers must be some of the new jobs aganaga was blathering about

if you can't make a coherent argument - spam with noise
dedeike: which argument hve you made apart from chasing shadows and leaving the real issues? If Pastor Bakare were to be your pastor, would you be confident to entrust him with the task of meeting your spiritual needs in the light of his recent unguarded utterances. Can you confidently meet Bakare as your pastor to pray over any spiritual challenge that you hve? This man keeps loosing it and you guys keep pushing him on with your folly
@dedeike: See as you just exposed yourself! Did oyb direct his comments at you?

@oyb: I tire - Apart from Beaf and a handful of predictable gladiators on NL, the Forum has been a spike of new registrants who are bleeding GEJ! It is unbelievable.

When a cluless govt talks about job creation, we now know what they mean! cheesy

@OP: Bakare will turn the Police questioners into mince meat - Ask Akilu and IBB's boys.
