olu4life:It was okay, the lead actress sold it, but I didn't find it really scary (messed up, yes) and I found the music distracting (it's basically the typical soundtrack you'd find in old 80s horror films). |
Still catching up on almost 2 months worth of Question Time...the more I keep watching this, the more surprised I'm that the Conservatives won the general elections. |
GodMode:That's why it's my opinion, just like you're seeing it through yours. It is your opinion that the man will not/does not care about the outcome, it is my opinion that the man is bulldozing the trust his wife has for him. |
donbenedict:You apparently want a heifer to breed for you, that's not a marriage, you simply want livestock for breeding. |
GodMode:Story. He does not trust his wife and at the end of the day, if he's found to be wrong and/or AS/AC, then his wife will certainly no longer trust him. His reputation will be tarnished due to his own insecurities. |
donbenedict:I didn't know you were signed up to a mail-order bride delivery service...Wow, you learn something new everyday. ![]() |
GodMode:His actions will have consequences, if his wife is indeed telling the truth, he's too quick to push the divorce button, the DNA tests have given him fact, but he still doesn't want to believe. GodMode:I even mentioned that in my post, it really isn't hard to read...Since he is a doubting Thomas, then he should ask for further tests, if he has brothers then he should bring them forward, if his father is still alive he can even bring him forward...he might as well, since he doesn't trust his wife. Let him keep tarnishing his image to his wife and child. And if after all of this proves his wife's fidelity, his reputation will forever be tarnished to his wife. Let's hope he's not treating the child differently 'cause that will also tarnish his reputation with his child. |
GodMode:And the answer still said yes, did it not? Further tests can still be run to determine it, if said brothers share a lot of markers, as that post suggests. So what exactly is your point? DNA tests will still tell who the father is. |
GodMode:Of course, you rather let disinformation reign instead? There's a big difference between incompetence and disinformation. A doctor not doing his job right is incompetence, folks spreading false information is disinformation. The fact remains that the man has done at least two DNA tests from two different hospitals (where the story pointed out he went to another hospital to get a second opinion) does not negate the fact that the man does not trust his wife...Plus, is his untrusting nature due to the fact he might be hiding his own skeletons? Who knows... Now if this woman has indeed made James Bond style moves to go out of her way to deceive her husband, then she should face the consequences and maybe apply for espionage work...But the way I see it, I believe the father is honestly setting himself up for serious grief, because his actions will definitely have consequences in the future. |
For a second, I thought the zombie apocalypse had started...then I read the article. |
GodMode:A father would certainly share more genetic traits and alleles with their child than his uncle ever would. There's a reason why DNA tests are used to determine paternity of a child. Any old matching does not work, if that were the case, it would never be used as a viable option in court cases. Those doctors who ran the tests would have told him if he was a mere relative or the father. So please y'all need to stop spreading disinformation and maybe do more reading. |
GodMode:Funny how folks forget what DNA means, when you run tests pertaining to parentage, the results can be used to tell whether the man is the father or a close familial relative as well. Eg if I run a DNA test with my brother, it will show that we share certain patterns* with each other that will prove we are siblings. Now, I'm no professional in genetics & it's been a long time since I studied biology, but I do know that even identical twins don't have the same fingerprints even though they were spilt from the same fertilised egg, while also possessing the same alleles. The human body is a funny thing, mutations are known to happen, it would appear genetic quirks will always turn up one way or the other. From this story, when DNA tests have proven he is indeed the father, the simple fact he doesn't appear to trust his wife, makes me not trust the man, his behaviour is rather suspicious... *for the life of me, I'm trying to spell the word that they always use starting with a...**googles** allele! That's the word I was looking for. |
GodMode:Typical response from someone who didn't bother to read the whole story. |
The 6th Day. |
I've a funny feeling that the man's genotype is not AA, he appears to not have decided to retest himself. I believe he is either AS or AC. He seems to really want to divorce his wife very quickly. That's highly worrying, since it implies he has some serious trust issues with his wife. I've no idea if the man himself is rather dodgy, he just seems to want to end the situation very quickly. It's amazing how some people on NL seem so eager to scream infidelity at the wife, even though the story says the family have had more than one DNA test that confirms the man is the father. Nowhere has it been pointed out in this story, that the man has officially confirmed his genotype as AA. The human body is a funny thing, mutations are known to happen, if it has been confirmed that he is indeed AA, then it could simply be a rare case with the child. But know this, after the smoke clears, his wife will find it very hard to trust her husband, since his behaviour will definitely bring fresh doubts into her mind. |
Kickboxer. Man, JCVD looks so young, the 80s music, the bad dialogue...I miss the straight forward action films. |
Easy A...still the best teen film from the 2010s. |
Hitch...really love this film. |
The Throwaways.

It Follows.

The Mysteries of Laura. I'm honestly surprised this got renewed, it will probably get cancelled next season with its reduced order and the retooling, but who knows stranger things have happened on US telly. |
Finally catching up on episode 21 and 22 of Arrow. |
SIRcumalot:WS is a guy with one bionic arm, not two. Peak of human condition, see Bruce Lee - the man could do things that some body builders still can't do despite his smaller frame. The whole spiel of a peak human - they can do things that could be considered extraordinary, but are at the height of a human's ability. eg folks pulling trucks with their hair. Superhuman is way above the human fitness, (eg Asgardian, Hulk) humans could never achieve this kind of feat because it is not in the parameters of a human's ability. Yes, writers especially comic book writers like to twist things to suit their mood. Plus, Cap's shield is nigh indestructible (apparently it's another accident that no one is able to replicate according to the comics, that's how adamantium was formed because they tried to replicate it), one of the Shield's main features is absorption, that's why Cap has perfected his tortoise move - to hide his huge ass frame behind it, since his arm and the rest of his body should have broken a long time ago. That's why his ass was able to get up after he threw himself out of the building. |
moneyallowed:You're confusing Lady Sif with the professor - who was a lowly Asgardian that was given whatever that staff was...**googles**Elliot Randolph, he was a stone mason, who signed onto an Earth mission in the 12th century because he was bored. He was given a Berserker Staff, which he then broke in three pieces and hid it. Then he developed a case of loose lips when he fell in love with a chic and told his story, while her brother wrote it and it became legend. He displayed superhuman strength without the Staff and other Asgardian enchantments. I know a vial of Cap's blood was in Agent Carter, but Peggy disposed of it, since she didn't trust anyone with it, especially not Howard "plays with fire" Stark. We haven't seen all the Inhumans' powers yet, Raina could actually be able to prevent things with her precognitive powers and her natural ability of emotional manipulation. |
rhames:Exactly. I keep finding it funny...sometimes our countrymen are quick to claim once they notice that someone of importance has a Nigerian name. Yes he's father was a Nigerian (who died in Nigeria, while trying to become the governor of Anambra state, you know our politics) and his mother is English. I'll give the guy credit, he's done well for himself through his hardwork, but folks need to stop claiming ownership. Sidebar: I'll not relive the whole Nigerian-born debacle, that was one weird as hell moment were someone failed to understand the English language of legalese. |
Kaycee7:If that's the case, his heading is still wrong, since it makes him look like a n00b. Some of us played these games on their original formats. |
moneyallowed:Drax is not a great thinker, he's a brawler, he's definitely not the guy with the plan...at least he can follow a plan. If you recall Cap's fight with the Algerian in CATWS, he's certainly at the peak of the human condition. Banner's serum made him one angry SoB and definitely moved him to superhuman stock, his serum is certainly different from the Super Soldier serum - that was supposed to create the perfect soldier, not an angry Hulk, who might not be able to take instruction. It certainly wasn't the same serum, if they really wanted to make the serum, they should have taken the Cap's blood, since it certainly still contains the serum. No one has been able to perfectly recreate the serum. Scarlet Witch's powers should still work on Gamora, since it worked on Hulk & Thor, unless Thanos with his knowledge of the Infinity gems countered that when he messed with Gamora's anatomy. Plus SW can manipulate matter/the laws of physics (I need to rewatch AoU at some point, since I only remember seeing this ability in the MCU with the post credit scene in Avengers), that definitely comes in handy in a fight. Gamora like most aliens in the MCU is certainly stronger than your average human, then added benefits of her enhancements certainly takes her further. Asguardians appear to be amongst the peak of Alien physiology, since they're the unofficial protectors of the universe. If you've watched the AoS episode with the lowly Asguardian who was hiding out in Earth, then you know how powerful they are. |
moneyallowed:I would certainly rank her above all plain humans (empowered ones like Inhumans or genetically modified ones really depends on their abilities. Eg Scarlet Witch, she can defy the laws of physics and plays with your mind - doubt is a strong weapon). Tony Stark's suit is his second skin & he's a genius, so he could actually make a solid plan, when he isn't acting too much like a douche. Drax is a hothead, he's punch first, ask questions never. That stunt he pulled with Ronan was class A case for bat s*** stupidity, his stock plummeted with immediate effect. As much as Captain America is one of my favourite Avengers in the MCU (the other being Black Widow), I honestly I'm sometimes confused with his powers - I always assumed he was at the peak of the human condition with a shield that absorbs all kinds of pressure, force & vibrations, but the way he fights sometimes just screams superhuman. Plus, let's be frank Cap would actually not survive without his shield in the MCU. Forget the comics - I own a limited run of Steve Rogers comics were he was skinny again and actually won all his fights...sometimes writers really love their God complex... Plus, folks forget that Winter Soldier has one robotic arm, not a robotic body. Gamora's entire body has been enhanced by cybernetics, y'all should pause the police scene that lists her abilities and rewatch the scene when she gets electrocuted by Nebula and see the X-Ray effect on her body. WS's arm gave way to one of BW's tiny electric discs, Gamora continued her fight while being electrocuted. |
Why do mere mortals claim they know God's will and/or how God loves? All these folks calling the wrong number (see the Bollywood film PK for that reference). The Oba should have used his perceived wisdom to get his point across or he should have adopted silence, which would have made him look more refined. Maybe I've become too accustomed with Queen Elizabeth II's perceived refinement, she stands there quietly observing, passing a few comments & the occasional smile, while her husband sometimes (maybe more than that) does his best Foolip antics. Sidebar: And why is it when folks run out of steam, they revert to name calling & ugly bashing? How does the commenters' looks affect the validity of their point? Doesn't that make you look more like a class A fool? |
On DVD?! You really need to change the title of this thread... |
Err...DProDG, Gamora is a genetically modified alien, who was turned into a killing machine who was also part responsible for mass genocide of Xandorians. Placing her above a modified raccoon, but below several humans is a travesty. Last time I checked, those humans didn't have superhuman strength, cybernetics and accelerated healing. She is able to withstand an enormous electric shock, she fought against Groot & made him armless, she held her own against Drax and certainly thinks ahead better than he does. Yeah yeah, we don't really know yet StarLord's true potential - with him being half-human, but we certainly know that the aliens usually outclass the humans in the MCU. |
I'm surprised that wit wasn't mentioned. Never underestimate the power of a good sense of humour. |
