One fluke assist from a setpeice, fancy flicks and turns in midfield that did nothing yet that game was termed the day Zidane destroyed Brazil lol. That's how past players get overrated to high heavens. The more you rewatch old matches the more you realize most narrative and reputations about past players are built on lies and nostalgia. |

Amoto94: I rewatched the game between Brazil and France in 2006 World Cup and I realized that the pace of the game hasn't really changed that much but the quality of play has dropped significantly. In that game you have several past world footballers of the year and future footballer of the year, Champions League winners and finalists, world class fullbacks and cenrrebacks Yet it was one of the most boring game I have ever rewatched on Fifa tv. Typical example of how nostalgia blinds people. The amount of misplaced passes and brain dead decision making was laughable for a game with so many alleged world class players. France midfield could not even keep hold of the ball for up to 5 mins without losing the ball you begin to wonder how they made the final. The commentator even mentioned how uneventful the game was numerous times especially In the first half. |

FIFA really need to redo the whole qualification process. No one is tuning into the world cup to watch Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Curacao and Haiti. Filler nations that ridicules the prestige of the world cup. |

raumdeuter: Inter Milan community defence makes all these players look better than they are, Akanji is probably the best defender at Inter now. even Darmian looks better in their community defence. That is why all these Inter milan players look better
Neither of these 3 would get into any top team, Definitely wont make Spanish team
Zubimendi is better than all these even Fabian Ruiz
Williams is better than any Italian attacker, Cucurela is better than Di Marco
Lets make this simple, Only Donarumma would make the Spanish team Ok |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by Capaldi: 3:25pm On Apr 03 |
raumdeuter: You mentioned 3 world class players for Spain, Mention 1 in Italy. Especially non goalkeeper Bastoni is world class, Barella is world class. Di Marco is top 3 in his position. Tonali is high quality. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by Capaldi: 3:15pm On Apr 03 |
raumdeuter: If you are naming Left Backs you will likely name Cucurela, Huijsen though not yet world class was the most sought after CB last window. Zubimendi is one of the better DM in the world, Yamal is a top 3-5 player in the world, Rodri is world class and can be back to world class soon
All those Barcelona boys play at a top club and regularly face top opposition, they also have a chemistry built which they can take to the NT and do well
Italian boys do not have the anyone outfield close to world class, they dont have any player than you might say is top 3-5 in his position, they dont even have a bunch playing together at top teams
So what do they have? Please the only world class players for Spain are Yamal, Pedri and Rodri. The rest are just good players. I already told you having many players that play for one club has zero benefits. You are still pushing a claim that’s already been picked apart and am not going to keep going in circles. The Bosnia starting lineup speaks for itself, apart from Retegui who had serious interest from top sides before running to Saudi for money, the rest are all playing at top clubs.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by Capaldi: 12:12am On Apr 03 |
raumdeuter: It can be, for example When Inter Milan won the CL in 2010, there was no Italian in their lineup, so the glory of that Inter Milan does not flow into their NT
Same now, Most of their clubs, the best players are foreigners.
You mentioned Spain they have like 5 starters who might come from Barcelona alone Pedri Gavi Balde, Yamal, Olmo, Fermin, Ferran Cubarsi, that is inbuilt automation with players who play together every week then sprinkle a few of Rodri, William, Huijsen Zubimendi, Cucurela
These are players who are starters and play in top 10 clubs Unlike Italy It can be but currently it isn't that's why you had to go as far back as 2010. Over the last 6 seasons Italian clubs have gone to 7 European finals, the highest amongst the top leagues. I asked how many world class players does Spain have not how many comes from one club. In the Euros finals vs England only one Barcelona player started for Spain. In the semi finals vs France only one as well so it's a pretty meaningless thing to even bring up. Except Retegui who went to Saudi to chase the bag, the majority of the Italian 11 plays for top teams. Some are defending champions and champions league finalists. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by Capaldi: 11:08pm On Apr 02 |
raumdeuter: These clubs are not representative of the National Team
If they ask you to mention an Italian player close to world class, you can only name Donnaruma and this situation has been like this for almost 10yrs
Or name how many Italian players who are key players at a top 10 club in Europe
Its mega embarrassing the state of Italian football, I spent hours discussing this with friends in the last 3 days especially for those of us who grew up with Italy being one of the top 3 footballing nations now missing world cup for 16yrs and wnt play a worl cup knockouts in 20yrs
Given how diluted and how easy they have made qualifications How are Italian teams doing well in European competitions not representative of the Italian national team and the Italian leagues? You could make a case for Bastoni and Barella. Di Marco is also one of the best fullback/wing backs around. I could also ask you how many Spanish players are world class or close to being world class. At most 2 and half considering Rodri is just getting back to full fitness and yet they are tipped as one the best national team currently so your argument is already faulty. Almost ten years is from 2016, they won the Euros in 21. Not making the world cup for 3 consistent edition is embarrassing for a nation like Italy but the narrative is getting overblown. Hire a good coach and give him years to build his team. |

Baggio and Capello are taking their condemnations too far. An Italian team has gotten to the final of the last 3 editions of the champions league twice despite the last one being embarrassing. The league has gotten more exciting with different winners. Even in other European competitions Roma, Atalanta and Florentina have gotten to finals recently. The problem with the national team is having no world class attacking main man like Mbappe or even Kane and appointing disappointing coaches. |

Its shameful that countries like Curacao, Iraq and Uzbekistan gets to go the world cup while top nations like Italy and others get to miss out. Countries that are just there to fill in the numbers while doing absolutely nothing worthwhile. The scorelines are going to be embarrassing. |

Griffon: I’ll rather go:
Kante, Tchouameni and Camavinga in midfield. Then Olise at RW, Dembele ST, Mbappe LW.
On current form, Thuram has no right to start ahead of Olise in a front three. That is a deadbeat midfield. It's going to be an eyesore. |

Mtcchheewwww How are the two situations even remotely similar? Chelsea under BlueCo uncovered those fraudulent transactions and practices from the Roman Abramovich era and voluntarily reported them to the Premier League and UEFA. The club cooperated fully and accepted responsibility for any wrongdoing. The FA didn’t come after us, we reported ourselves. City have done the exact opposite. They took the Fa to Court. |
