De Montfort University Leicester (DMU) has been named as one of Britain’s top 10 universities for the most student and graduate start-ups.

Over 128 new students and graduates’ start-ups were launched in 2019/20 compared with 54 the previous year. The data, released by the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) follows a rise in events and online support for entrepreneurial students across the University and comes as DMUworks launch a new website to showcase creative businesses launched by the university’s students, graduates and staff.

Building on the success of 2019/20, DMUworks Enterprise and Entrepreneurship’s team have since launched online start-up schools, a new Launchpad program for students in their third year of study or above, a Graduate Champions Startup Catapult program and much more, catering for current students as well as DMU alumni.

The DMUworks team also offers second year students the chance to complete an enterprise placement year, developing their own business idea and learning entrepreneurial skills with the University’s support and access to seed funding over a 12-month period. All of the initiatives are developed and run by the team.

Education / Travel Spot: Oxford City Center. by Capital2021(m): 3:10pm On Jun 25, 2021
Schools do not hang in the air, they are domiciled in a region, city and in a state which would also be in a country. The analogy is long right, well the long and short of that story is that the school is not the only place that is in the city. You can really visit other fun places whilst you study, so as your go to place we offer suggestions. Today we are checking in on a great place to visit in Oxford.

Oxford is one of the oldest and most celebrated university towns in Europe, and for centuries has rivaled Cambridge for academic pre-eminence in England. Its untrammeled spirit of exploration, numerous delightful gardens, courtyards, and university parks - together with the hectic bustle of its pedestrian zone and excellent cultural facilities - all help create a very special atmosphere.

Oxford has plenty of tourist attractions, including Carfax Tower, offering superb views over the city, and the historic Covered Market with its excellent shopping. Today we expose to you Oxford City Center.

Although the center of Oxford is not large, plenty of time should be allowed for a visit since there are so many things to do here. The city's four principal streets meet at the intersection known as Carfax, a good starting point for a tour. Here, you'll find the 14th-century Carfax Tower, a relic of St. Martin's Church (now destroyed), which has great views over the city.

Also, worth visiting are the Town Hall; St. Aldate's Church (1318); and Pembroke College, founded in 1624 but with origins dating back to 1446. The nearby Modern Art Oxford, a visual art gallery focusing on exhibitions of modern and contemporary art, regularly offers talks, music, and movies.

Oxford's splendid High Street is lined with numerous magnificent buildings, including many of the colleges the city is so famous for. In fact, it's so pretty, it was famously described by American writer Nathaniel Hawthorne as "the finest street in England."

There you have it, the beautiful and historical Oxford City Centre. You too can see these places not as a tourist (as good as that sounds, not for us) but a student studying in the University of Oxford or any school in the UK. You doubting? Clear it at www.Studysey.com

Education / UK Post-study Work Visa Deadline Extended. by Capital2021(m): 3:00pm On Jun 25, 2021
The entry deadline to qualify for the new UK post-study work (PSW) visa has been extended. The move has been welcomed by international students enrolling at UK universities. The Post study visa allows overseas students to work, or look for work, for three years after completing their studies.

To qualify for the visa, international students previously had to be in the UK by 21 June 2021 if they began their studies in autumn 2020. By extending this deadline to 27 September this year, the Home Office aims to accommodate those international students still studying remotely in their home countries due to Covid-19 travel restrictions.

This extension means that international students have more time to prepare to arrive in the UK and still be eligible for the graduate route visa. Students will also have access to Covid-19 vaccines once in the UK if they register with a doctor after they arrive.

The graduate route visa was introduced to help international graduates from UK universities begin their careers in Britain. Graduates do not need a job offer to apply for the visa and there is no minimum salary to be eligible. Once granted the visa, graduates can work flexibly and switch jobs as required, according to the UK Home Office.

The University of Greenwich is partnering with Oxford International Education Group to build a new Oxford International London Centre (OILC), which is based in a state-of-the-art teaching space in Greenwich High Road, close to the University’s Greenwich campus.

Education / The Best Universities For Art Degrees In The UK. by Capital2021(m): 11:32am On Jun 24, 2021
Many people assume that if you want to work in a creative industry, you can forego a traditional education. However, there is enormous value in studying an arts degree at a UK university, especially if you study with the right institution.

The 5 UK Universities listed are all renowned for the quality of the arts education that they provide. Anyone who is planning on studying an arts degree of their own should begin their search with these institutions below:

Royal College of Art
The Royal College of Art in London is the oldest art and design University in continuous operation in the world. The RCA has a well-deserved reputation for excellence; its name is synonymous with a quality arts education in the same way that Harvard is synonymous with business or Oxford with the sciences.

For the last 5 years, the RCA has been ranked as the best art and design University in the world by QS World University Subject Rankings. The University is comprised of four different Schools – Architecture, Arts & Humanities, Communication, and Design. The main University campus is in Kensington, one of the most picturesque parts of London.

University of The Arts London
The University of The Arts London comes second in the QA World University Subject Rankings. The University is the largest University specializing in art & design in all of Europe in terms of student numbers. In fact, with more than 19,000 students from 130 countries, UAL is one of the biggest and most diverse campuses in the UK. UAL only came into being in 2004, but it was formed by amalgamating several art, design, and fashion colleges that were founded in the 19th and 20th centuries. The University offers a range of courses covering these subjects and its staff consists of numerous professional artists and creatives.

Norwich University
The Norwich University of Arts is one of the UK’s leading independent arts Universities. The University specializes in arts, architecture, and design courses and is located in the heart of Norwich city’s cultural quarter. The University has been one of the UK’s most popular Universities for art students and has been for much of its 170-year existence.

Norwich University has a very high success rate and the vast majority of its students will graduate from the University and go straight into a professional role. Of the just over 2,000 students that graduated from NUA in 2018, 94% are now either in work or completing further studies.

Glasgow School of Art
The Glasgow School of Art is one of a rapidly dwindling number of independent art Universities in the UK. The University first opened its doors to students in 1845 and since then has been responsible for producing some of the most talented and influential artists the UK has produced, along with a host of notable architects and other designers.

Glasgow is a hotbed of art and culture. While Edinburgh is the capital city of Scotland, Glasgow is widely viewed as the cultural capital of Scotland in much the same way that New York or Kyoto are in their respective nations.

Goldsmiths University
Goldsmiths University is one of the most prestigious and renowned Universities in the UK. This is a reputation that has been well-earned. Goldsmiths University boasts a diverse student makeup, with around 1 in every 5 students coming from outside the UK to study. Thanks to the University’s stellar reputation, it has always managed to attract the top creative talent from around the world.

The UK has always had a thriving arts scene and has been a cultural superpower for more than a century. This rich creative heritage is reflected in the range of high-quality Universities and other academic institutions in the UK offering art & design courses. Whatever creative field you aspire to work in one day, there is a UK university that can provide you with the training and experience you need to make it a reality.

Education / Monday Motivation: Focus Right. by Capital2021(m): 5:40pm On Jun 21, 2021
“I try not to focus on the negatives and limitation. I just work hard and make sure I deliver with the opportunity given to me.” - Kemi Adetiba

Life is always a mix of good and bad but what makes it great for anybody is the ability to focus on the positives and move through all forms of limitations that life may throw at you.

There is an adage that what you focus on you replicate. So, if you think all that is happening to you today is negative, can we just take a step back and see what your focus is tied to. If they are negative, the change is gravely needed to rescue you. Don't live life just looking at the negatives, it could be prevailing but still see the positives in you and your situation and watch life get better for you.

You may have been told that it ain't possible for you to study abroad and that has been your focus. Quit that, you can. We would help you achieve that when you start at www.Studysey.com

Here’s a brief rundown of the top-ranked Universities in the UK and Europe for 2022 according to their number ranking in the Top 10 list:

1. University of Oxford (UK)
With over 8,000 international students, this public University has climbed up a few spots this year thanks to accelerated research and innovation which has long been the cornerstone of its success. In fact, Oxford scientists developed the AstraZeneca vaccine this past year, which is today being used to inoculate millions against COVID-19.

2. University of Cambridge (UK)
Located in the famous English city of the same name, Cambridge has almost 7,600 international students. It is Oxford’s fiercest competitor, with graduates accumulating more than 80 Nobel Prizes. Famous graduates include science and arts icons such as Stephen Hawking, Charles Darwin, Sascha Baron Cohen, and Emma Thompson.

3. Imperial College London (UK)
Imperial hosts over 10,000 international students in science, engineering, medicine, and business courses. Its South Kensington Campus includes impressive facilities: a full-motion flight simulator, carbon capture pilot plant, and the largest KPMG Data Observatory in the region.

6. The University of Edinburgh (UK)
Well over 13,000 international students are pursuing higher education at Scotland’s top University, which boasts 10 libraries and one of the largest campus computing networks among Universities in the UK. Research is conducted across three Colleges: Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences; Medicine and Veterinary Medicine; and Science and Engineering. Student life in Edinburgh is filled with history, culture, and old-world charm.

7. The University of Manchester (UK)
More than 15,000 students have chosen Manchester for their study abroad experience, making up 25% of the total student population. This comes as no surprise since it is one of the UK’s most popular student cities. Notable alumni include footballer Vincent Kompany and actor Benedict Cumberbatch.

8. King’s College London (UK)
As one of England’s oldest Universities, King’s has a long legacy of impactful research and evidence-based teaching in the humanities, law, and sciences alike. King’s is the most central University in London, including four Thames-side campuses within a single square mile and one located in south London. These five campuses host over 29,000 students from over 150 countries.

Education / Facts About The City Of London. by Capital2021(m): 12:29pm On Jun 11, 2021
The capital city in England houses our University of the week and as it is our custom. We run a check or as we say it shine our spotlight on the city on a day like to bring you amazing facts that would make you love the city more than you ever did. If there is something we can promise you, it is the fact that you would be mind blown after reading this. So dive in to our pick of five (5) below:

Diverse London
We start our list of facts about London today by telling of her cultural diversity. As one of the most diverse cities in the world, London houses over 8 million residents, who collectively speak over 300 languages, including Bengali, Gujarati, Punjabi, Cantonese, Mandarin, Hokkien and of course English. We guess you never knew.

Not Big Ben, then what?
Big Ben is arguably London’s most famous landmark. Surprisingly, it is actually meant to go by the name ‘The Clock Tower’, while ‘Big Ben’ is the name of the bell. Be free to tell your friends and family that fact if you ever do a tour of London.

'Ravened' Tower
Charles II’s ordered for six ravens to be placed in the Tower of London to protect it. Apparently, six ravens are still kept in the tower today and they must remain there at all times due to superstitious reasons. For extra measures, each raven has a wing clipped, they even have a spare raven handy in case one flies away.

Cultural London
As well as the 300 languages spoken in London, the amount of museums in the capital adds to the culture of this city. London boasts over 170 museums, from the massive British Museum, London’s most popular tourist attraction, to the tiny Fan Museum in Greenwich.

London Eye not the First
Our final shocker in our list of interesting facts about London is that the London Eye was not the first big wheel in London. In fact, The Great Wheel earns this title. This wheel was constructed in 1895 for the Empire of India Exhibition. It was then sadly demolished in 1907, 91 years before construction started on the London Eye.

There you have it. Amazing right? Well, you could be on your way to visiting these places when you go study in the UK. This may seem hard but with our help you have the ease that you direly need. This and more is available when you start your journey at www.Studysey.com
