The University of Sheffield is offering International Undergraduate Scholarships 2021 to new international students starting their undergraduate studies at the University of Sheffield in September 2021.

Scholarship details:
The scholarship is worth £2,000 per year for courses in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities and Faculty of Social Sciences and £2,500 per year for courses in the Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health, and Faculty of Science.

The scholarship is offered in each following academic year subject to sustained academic success and the scholarship will be applied as a tuition fee discount.

Eligibility and award criteria:
Applicants must commence their studies of an undergraduate degree at the University of Sheffield in September 2021. All undergraduate degree courses are included except for Medicine (A100/A101) and Dentistry (A200).

Applicants must choose the University of Sheffield as their firm or insurance choice before June 18, 2021.

The scholarship will be awarded automatically no scholarship application is required in the first or any subsequent years.

Subject to meeting the eligibility and award criteria the scholarship will be guaranteed in the first year of study.

The scholarship is applicable to each subsequent academic year of study, subject to achieving 60% or above and achieving a minimum of 120 credits in the previous academic year. The scholarship is not applicable to any compulsory or optional years in industry, work placements or year abroad.

Applicants must enter a degree program at the University of Sheffield in year 1. Applicants entering into year 2 would be eligible for this scholarship, providing they are not receiving a scholarship/award as part of a collaborative program.

Several Universities in the United Kingdom have stepped up to help incoming international students by partially or fully covering quarantine costs. Cranfield University recently announced that it would pay quarantine costs for international students. The University will cover the cost of any COVID-19 testing on arrival in the UK, and provide accommodation on the Cranfield campus and all meals for the period that students need to quarantine on their arrival.

The University of Bristol is supporting international students travelling to Bristol this September. Students travelling through a red list country will be reimbursed the cost of their hotel stay. The University of Bristol will cover the cost of the test package for students travelling from green and amber list countries.

Currently, before arriving in England, incoming travelers must book a managed quarantine hotel within a 14-day period before arrival. According to Gov.uk, the rate for one adult in one room for 10 days (11 nights) is 1,750 pounds.

Some UK Universities are also offering other forms of financial support. These includes scholarships, bursaries, hardship funds, tuition fee discounts and reimbursements. They are mostly targeted towards incoming students from red-list countries who may incur additional costs to travel to the UK.

The University of Salford is providing those who must book and pay for the UK Government Managed Quarantine Hotel a financial contribution of up to 750 pounds per student, and 250 pounds for one dependent. The University is also offering all eligible international students a 300 pounds bursary to spend on a device for learning, including a laptop and data to be able to start their course online. The offer is open to those starting in January/February, March or June 2021.

The University of Bristol is the 62nd best University in the world, according to a new league table released today. University of Bristol was also ranked 10th in the United Kingdom and 17th in Western Europe.

The Quacquarelli Symonds World University Rankings 2022 analyzed 1,673 intuitions – 145 more than last year – and placed University of Bristol among the globe’s leading establishments.

Quacquarelli Symonds’ annual survey asked 130,000 academics which Universities were producing the best research and surveyed 75,000 employers on which produced the best professionals. James Spencer Cleverly (born 4 September 1969) is a British Conservative politician and Army officer who served as Co-Chairman of the Conservative Party alongside Ben Elliot from 2019 to 2020. He has been Member of Parliament (MP) for Braintree since 2015. He was previously Member of the London Assembly for Bexley and Bromley from 2008 to 2016. Diane James
Diane Martine James (born 20 November 1959) is a British politician who was a Brexit Party Member of the European Parliament (MEP). Canterbury is Home to the country's oldest school
The King's School in Canterbury is the oldest school in the country. The school was built in 597 CE (common era) and is believed to be the oldest still-functioning school in all of Europe.

Canterbury has Received the Tour de France

It was one of the most-watched stages in the tour's history at the time in 2007, with 189 cyclists competing.

Canterbury Music
Canterbury created its own genre of music named Canterbury Sound or Canterbury Scene a new genre of music got its start in Canterbury. The genre is based around groups that rose to fame in the late 60s and early 70s in progressive rock, avant-garde and jazz. The University of Aberdeen is offering a 20 per cent discount on postgraduate study as it aims to support local people and businesses in responding to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The second phase of the regional discount scheme – known as the University of Aberdeen Community Discount – is open to all residents of Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire and Moray who plan to apply, or who have applied already, to on-campus and online program with a September 2021 or January 2022 start date.

This scholarship is awarded to overseas students entering their first year of an undergraduate program in the School of Engineering in recognition of excellent academic performance. The University of Plymouth has been recognized for its work in developing software to protect the maritime industry against cybercrime.

Researchers at the University won a competition run by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) for its piece of software designed to identify the specific cyber threats facing ships, which also has the ability to expand into ports and other sectors.

The Maritime Cyber Risk Assessment (MaCRA) framework was developed by researchers from the University of Plymouth’s Maritime Cyber Threats Research Group.

It identifies the specific risks likely to be encountered by particular vessels on trade routes all over the world, enabling international shipping operators and insurers to rapidly assess individual ships or entire fleets’ cyber risk profiles. The software was among entrants from across the UK in a Cyber Den competition run as part of the UK government’s flagship cybersecurity event, CYBERUK, on May 11 and 12, 2021.

Researchers will now receive assistance from the NCSC in assessing, developing and piloting their product or service. This may include consultancy on the technology and potentially working with a government department on further testing.

Dr Tam, lecturer in cybersecurity at the University of Plymouth and academic lead on the MaCRA project, said: "We are thrilled with the opportunities our win in the Cyber Den will bring as we finesse MaCRA's adaptive maritime cyber risk assessment capabilities.

"We are also grateful to the CyberASAP team for equipping us and other great teams to deliver Dragons' Den-style pitches, and to the judges, especially for the most valuable aspect of our win: a year's mentoring with NCSC experts.”
