A three-person team buckler from the University of Buckingham have been named regional winners in the Keyloop Dealer Tech Competition and they were awarded £3,000. They will go on to compete in the national final on May 12, with the chance of winning the £10,000 grand prize. The competition, run by leading automotive technology company Keyloop, sees students from six UK universities develop innovative solutions to solve some of the automotive industry’s biggest challenges. The three-person Team Bucklers, comprising of Yoon Cho, Jesper Liedholm, and Thomas Humphreys were tasked with developing a technology product idea to help car dealers transition their business amidst today’s tech trends, the impact of Covid-19, and modern consumer demands. The competition began in October 2020 and, since then, 18 successful proposals progressed to the ‘idea development phase’, during which students built out their proposals into product ideas, with the help of a mentor from Keyloop. The successful ideas have incorporated technology to develop and improve areas such as dealer to customer engagement, the purchase journey for sales and servicing, data tools for dealership staff, and car ownership and connectivity. Team Bucklers' idea was for a driving analysis tool that builds a consumer profile based on how he/she uses the car. This can then identify any issues or risks with the car, predict when they may buy their next car and recommend a model. Team member Thomas Humphreys stated that: "It has been an exciting journey working together to solve real-world problems in the automotive industry. "We are thrilled to have competed in Keyloop’s Dealer Tech Competition and look forward to applying these skills in our careers." There is more to experience at the University of Buckingham and if it is your dream to study in this beautiful institution or other great institutions across the UK, you can begin your journey here at www.Studysey.com

Applying to study in the UK either for an undergraduate or post graduate degree is not as difficult as it seems, you only need to be well prepared and have the right paperwork and documents required. We have compiled a list of the Five (5) important documents that you’ll need to have and submit if you are thinking of studying abroad. Check out the list below: Academic Transcript While applying to a University in the UK, you will be required to submit an academic transcript that focuses on your academic experience and accomplishments. Academic transcripts give the University full details about the subjects or courses you’ve studied and the grades you received. Universities expect these transcripts to be official copies and not screenshots or printed pages. Academic transcripts are important because seeing what subjects you took can help universities decide if you have the necessary background and skills for the degree you are applying to. Certificate of Graduation You will be asked to submit certified copies of your high school graduation diploma. Universities need these documents to have proof that you attended and graduated from a previous level of education in order to qualify for a new programme. These certificates of graduation usually include data about the educational institution you attended, your grade Point average (GPA) and final grades. Certificate of English Proficiency Although Nigeria is an English-speaking country, most Universities in the UK don’t consider it an English-speaking country and still require prospective students to submit a certificate to show excellent English Language proficiency. Universities in the UK usually accept students who can communicate, understand and consequently succeed in their education. There are various English standardized tests admitted at UK universities such as IELTS, TOEFL or UCLES. Personal statement. A personal statement is required when applying to Universities in the UK. In it, prospective students are to write about what they hope to do on the course, what they hope to do after the course and why they are applying. Your personal statement holds great value as the Universities gauge your suitability for the program on its basis. Typically, the personal statement should be clearly structured and well-written, limited to 1-2 pages. Reference/Recommendation Letters There are two types of reference/recommendation letters, academic and professional. Academic References are from your Head of School or a teacher who can attest to your academic qualification while professional references are from your employers. The academic reference letter should talk about you from a teacher's or supervisor's perspective: the way in which you interact with other students and your performance in classes and seminars. I hope this list has been helpful and you now know the most important documents that would be required while applying to Universities in the UK. If you find this information helpful, share with a friend & tag someone who may be interested.

The UK government will be offering a new post-study work visa from 1 July 2021 for international students wishing to stay in the country. International students will soon be able to stay in the UK for up to three years after completing their courses. This initiative would help the UK’s economy since it will allow the country to offer opportunities to students who have gained key skills which may be beneficial to the UK’s economy. Currently, it is required of international graduates in the UK to secure a job offer from an employer (sponsor) in the country before lodging applications for a work visa which would allow them to take up employment and stay in the United Kingdom. The UK’s post-study work visa would facilitate businesses in the UK to employ international students with qualifications and skills gained in the UK. The new post-study visa would allow graduates who often leave the UK after completing their studies to stay in the UK and pursue professional work options. This was proving to be a challenge to many international graduates who often battled to find employment in the UK without having any work experience. This development will now change this, and also stands to benefit the UK’s economy. The following criteria will Apply for this new visa option: • The post-study visa will be available to international students who have completed a degree at undergraduate level or above at a higher education provider with a track record of compliance, and who have valid student visa permission at the time of application. • Successful applicants at bachelor’s or master’s levels will be able to stay in the UK and work, or look for work, at any skill level for two years. Doctoral students will be able to stay for three years. • Applicants are required to pay the required fees for the graduate visa and apply for such before their student visa expires. The exact fee has not yet been finalized. • Applicants do not need to be in employment to stay on the graduate route and there is no restriction on the kind of work they can do. • There are no minimum salary requirements no caps on numbers. • Applicants can spend as long as they like looking for work and are able to leave or switch jobs without any effect on their visa. • Graduates will be able to apply for a Skilled Work Visa from within the UK, once they have secured suitable employment. • Individuals who already have permission as a dependent of a student who is applying on this visa route can also apply to extend their permission as a dependent. However, new dependents are not permitted on this route. • Graduates may work flexible working hours, are free to switch jobs and develop their careers as required.

Applying for a Student Visa to Study in the UK? You Will Need These Important Documents. Applying to a University in the UK and getting accepted is only the first step on your study Journey. As an international student, you would also have to apply for a student visa that gives you access into the UK. There are two types of UK student visas: Short term study visa and tier 4 (general) student visa. When applying for a Student Visa, you will need to submit a variety of documents to support your application and your documents must meet the requirements to prevent a visa refusal. The documents can be originals or copies. I have compiled a list of the Six (6) important documents needed for the student visa application. Check out the list below: 1. Completed Visa Application Form Every Applicant would be required to complete an online visa application form and input all the necessary information, such as name, age, address, nationality etc. Through this, applicants would be given the list of other required documents needed for the application of the student visa. 2. Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies After being accepted by the University you applied to, you will be given a confirmation of acceptance for studies number (CAS Number) and a visa letter that confirms that you have accepted your offer to study at the University you applied for. CAS numbers are specific to every applicant and a time frame of 3 months will be given to the applicants to apply for the visa before the CAS number and visa letter expires. 3. Qualifications You will be required to submit academic qualifications that include your academic transcripts, certificate of graduation and other certificates. These qualifications focus on your academic experience and accomplishments. Any document not in English or welsh will need to be translated into English by a professional translator or translation company. 4. Certificate of English Proficiency Although Nigeria is an English-speaking country, most countries don’t consider it an English-speaking country and still require prospective students to submit a certificate to show excellent English Language proficiency. International students are required to take an English standardized test to assess the applicants’ level of English language competency. There are various English standardized tests such as IELTS, TOEFL or UCLES. 5. Passport & Photograph You must submit your original, valid passport in support of your visa application. Your passport must contain at least one full page that is blank on both sides. If your passport is close to the expiration date, it is better you renew it before starting the visa application process or before you travel to the UK because it is easier and less stressful. You will also need to provide recent passport photographs, taken within the past six months and in color. 6. Financial Evidence As part of your visa application, you must prove that you have sufficient funds to cover the cost of the tuition and other expenses. Financial evidence can take the form of pay slips or bank account statements for the last six months showing you can cover the cost of tuition fees, accommodation and living costs. If you are being sponsored, you will be required to submit a letter confirming your financial sponsorship and the sponsors bank account statements. I hope this list has been helpful and you now know the most important documents that would be required while applying for a student visa to study in the UK. Five (5) Ways to Identify Study Abroad Scholarship Scams. Studying in the UK can be very expensive with the cost of tuition, Accommodation and other added costs, so the offer of a scholarship that covers some or all of your tuition fees can be very tempting. Unfortunately, Scammers know how attractive and profitable it can be and they exploit the eagerness of prospective students by advertising fake study abroad scholarships usually offering a large amount of money in order to attract people so they can prey on their desperation. I noticed this trend and through the personal accounts of people, I have been able to compile a list of five (5) ways to identify fake study abroad scams. Check out the List below: 1. Application Fees Organizations that offer scholarships will never ask potential candidates for money while applying. Scholarship providers typically want to offer equal opportunities to all who may be qualified, so they don’t ask for any application fee and leave every applicant to decide their fate through the quality of their applications. Scholarship providers send out warnings during scholarship processing periods, informing the public about the activities of fraudsters acting as agents on their behalf, who are only intent on Scamming eager candidates. 2. Guaranteed Scholarships If any organization/Company or scholarship providing organization offers a guaranteed scholarship, its mostly likely a scam because organizations offering a Legitimate scholarship opportunity will never be advertised as guaranteed. These companies will just ask for a fee and may even offer a money back guarantee but will never get you a scholarship. The only people who can guarantee that you will receive a scholarship are members of a scholarship committee — when they are notifying you that you have been selected. 3. Loan Fees You should be careful of “Loan companies and scholarship providing organizations” that ask for a loan fee before they will disburse any money to you. Real loan companies will add fees to your loan balance which you repay over time and will never ask you to pay a fee upfront. 4. Asking for Personal Information. It is common for many prospective Students to be asked to hand over personal information as part of the scholarship application process. However, you should never provide any personal information like your passport number, your bank details such as ATM card PIN, BVN and Security numbers or any other kind of identification that can be used for fraud. If you come across any scholarship providing organization asking for any personal information, you can always run an internet search on the organization or contact the university you are applying to and ask for guidance. 5. Poorly Made Websites and No Institutional E-mail One of the most effective ways to Spot fraudulent scholarship opportunities is by paying attention to details. Fraudulent scholarship providing organizations don’t typically have standard websites and any Institutional E-mail and that’s deliberate so in the event of any fraudulent activity taken place they cannot be tracked. Most of these websites are usually loaded with pictures and writings plagiarized from other scholarship websites and no real content. It is advisable to run an internet search on any scholarship opening before you commit to it. I hope this list has been helpful and you now know the different ways to identify any study abroad scholarship scams you might come across. If you find this information helpful, share with a friend & tag someone who may be interested.

Applying to study in the UK either for an undergraduate or post graduate degree is not as difficult as it seems, you only need to be well prepared and have the right paperwork and documents required. I have compiled a list of the Five (5) important documents that you’ll need to have and submit if you are thinking of studying abroad. Check out the list below: 1. Academic Transcript While applying to a University in the UK, you will be required to submit an academic transcript that focuses on your academic experience and accomplishments. 2. 3. 4. 5. Reference/Recommendation Letters There are two type of reference/recommendation letters, academic and professional.
