afrodoc2: I think you are right about Holland. That is why I mentioned Carrick’s coaching staff in an earlier post.
Holland is said to be a very good defensive organiser who did some good work at Chelsea and with the national team. I think given the pedigree of Holland and I also heard that Woodgate is very good as a defensive coach. I think if we add 2/3 more coaches with variable skills, they will make a formidable coaching crew to suceed. Even Arteta was also inexperienced when he joined Arsenal. So why not Carrick if he does well till the end of the season. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by CapitalCee(m): 4:57pm On Jan 26 |
afrodoc2: Yes. If he delivers a convincing top 3-4 finish playing good football and front foot football especially against the lower teams he will be in contention. If that happens then we can't reject him for another unproven manager like Glasner, De Zerbi etc. Only top tier managers like Enrique, Flick, Nagelsmann should be considered if Carrick does extremely well in this interim period.
But like you said, the real test will come against the lower teams. Can he device a way to consistently breakdown low blocks and can he find a way to inspire the players to consistently play with the same energy and discipline against unfashionable teams. 5th place will inevitably deliver UCL football, considering that Laliga and Bundesliga have 1 team each knocked out of the UCL already, and Bilbao and Napoli are struggling. If Carrick can get 5th place which should get us UCL, i will suggest he stays and we back him in the summer. |

I think we still have Chelsea away and Liverpool at Home.
I go like see our approach vs minnows in like 4 games... 2 home, 2 away.
Then maybe.... Chelsea away is the issue, we can beat Liverpool at home. For Chelsea away we can play haram football and scrap a draw. They are our rivals for the top 4 race |

CL/UEL qualification would likely go down to the wire.
Atleast 8 teams are literally neck on neck..vying for atmost, 3spots! England will get the extra UCL slot. 60-62 points will be enough to lock in 5th at the minimum. Just forget about the table and focus on getting vital strategic wins and draws if need be. |

Mrviktor: Kudos to him.
He should be a converted winger I understand your reservations about him, and its justified at times, but he is a young player that just came from relagation battlers in Seria A. With the right coaching he will be a monster. We are looking at something closer to Nuno Mendes. I am for allowing young players to thrive low key without pressure until they reach like 24ish, thats when their true potentials show. Ofcourse there are outliers but those ones are very few and rare, and even in many cases taper out before they reach 28. Look at Delle Alli, Rooney(I am very harsh here though), Rashford, Owen etc |

Lana1: Rashford ship has sailed abeg. Let everybody involved move on from that relationship.
I don't think we should sell Ugarte just yet. We can keep him for another year as 4th choice CM for squad depth.
I'll prefer we sell Dalot but I can live with him eating bench Sell Ugarte, we can recoup something for him now. Get Anderson plus 1 more CM. I think Ruben Neves is even free in the Summer I think Lacey will mature at a rate that will surprise many next season, we need to add a LW. Dalot can stay as long as he is 2nd choice. I think we need an experienced striker on a low fee or free. |

yinkeys: Boko haram Lakuruwa Bandits Kidnappers Rebels possibly sponsored by other evil, powerful countries Infrastructural upgrades Is a light thing I hear you Limit the hosting Cities to only PH, Lagos, Abuja, Uyo and may be Benin. Get 8-9 stadiums from there finish. Cameroon was battling with worse insecurity yet they hosted it in 2021 |

Odunayaw: $5bn say na Olympics?
Even CIV that had to build new new things spent $1bn.
Insecurity is a light thing We can host AFCON with 8 Stadiums. 🏟️ in places where insecurity will not affect anything.
LAGOS1. Teslim Balogun stadium 25k capacity (needs renovation and upgrade). 2. Agege Main Bowl – 25k capacity (proposed to be extended to 30k. Needs upgrading and renovation). 3. Rebiuld National stadium Surulere originally 55k Capacity. PORT HARCOURT4. Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, 40k capacity (Very little Upgrade). 5. Liberation Stadium 25K capacity (Needs heavy renovation). ABUJA5. MKO stadium Abuja 60k capacity ( little renovation and Upgrade) UYO7. Goodswill Akpabio Stadium Uyo. 40k Capacity. (little Upgrade). BENIN8. Sam Ogbemudia stadium 15k capacity can be upgraded to 18-20k. (Requires very little upgrading and renovation) ASABA9. Stephen Keshi stadium Asaba - 22k capacity can be upgraded to 35k (requires very little upgrading and renovation). Use the Abuja, Uyo, Adokiye stadium PH, and Teslim Balogun and rebuilt Surulere for Knockout Matches. Use Rebuilt Surulere and Abuja for Semis. Uyo or PH for 3rd place. Abuja or Surulere for Finals depending on the stadium SE choose to base. Use heavy security to guard teams’ hotel bases. The demand will reduce as teams are eliminated. Lagos, Uyo, PH and Abuja have less security concerns but for Asaba and Benin, guard the teams carefully only 2 teams per City once they are done with the group stage match they go. There are good stadiums in Zaria, Kaduna and Kano but those areas are red zones. We might need up to 600-700b for that. Thats big but it will upgrade our infrastructure, it will lead to hosting of many tournaments like WAFCON, U17 and 20 WCs both for male and female. What I don’t know is if Tinubu government can spare that much |
