PoliticsRe: Protesters Chant 'Ole', Chases Wike's Convoy At FCTA Secretariat In Abuja (Video by CapitalLens: 3:19pm On Jan 26
This is a blatant lie. Those familiar with the FCTA Area 11 Secretariat will know that the area shown in this video is the main entrance to the Secretariat.

However, the Minister left the office premises through the alternate exit route popularly known as the Police Gate due to a police station at the proximity. At no point in the video was the Minister's convoy seen driving out.

What is seen here are miscreants apparently running from the main entrance to the Police Gate upon learning that Minister was leaving office and hoping to catch up with his convoy to display their lack of home training. But they are unable to do so because this is a distance of about 200 meters between the two access points.

CelebritiesRe: Jay-z Wins Paternity Case, Awarded $120,000 In Legal Fees by CapitalLens: 10:30am On Jan 19
Brendaniel:
This news is somehow, so someone claims Jay-z is his father and takes him to court asking the court to compel him to do a DNA test and Jay-z fights the charge back not to do the DNA test, not that he wants to clear himself of not being the father of the boy but not just wanting to do the DNA test, something sounds fishy here...

I mean, if you have nothing to fear you will speedily tell them to do DNA and all cost should be bore by the person who made the claim, then you can counter sue if you want if the result is negative, but fighting back because you have the right to reject a DNA test looks fishy, looks similar with case of Gov. Sanwo Olu and that boy from Delta state, I thought it was only women who fear DNA test, why are these men now towing the same path?

Conclusion - Only randy men and women fear DNA test.
The mother was 16 years when she was allegedly impregnated by the rapper which is illegal and there are allegations bordering on rape as well.

PoliticsRivers Ijaw People’s Congress Abandons Fubara For Wike by CapitalLens(op): 9:11am On Jan 04
The Rivers Ijaw People’s Congress has announced its decision to abandon Governor Siminilayi Fubara of Rivers State, and pledged allegiance to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr Nyesom Wike.

Chairman of the congress, Senator George Sekibo, announced the group’s decision during Wike's “thank you” visit to Okrika Local Government Area of the state on Saturday.

Sekibo described the feud between Fubara and Wike as “very unfortunate”, stressing however that the Ijaw people were not ungrateful people.

He recalled how Wike supported the emergence of Fubara, an Ijaw son, as governor of Rivers State and was widely supported by the people across the state.

“Please don't look at him and think we are all ungrateful people. Ijaw people are very grateful people.

“That is why we abandoned him (Fubara) and said we will follow you. You have done so much for Ijaw people in Rivers. Whatever you say we should do, is what we will do,” he said.

Sekibo assured the minister of the Ijaw people’s support and pledged complete loyalty to President Bola Tinubu.

“We are grateful people and that is why we are following you. We will not leave you because you have been there for us,” he added.

Earlier, Chairman of Okrika Local Government Council, Mr Akuro Tobin, described Wike as his “political godfather”.

Tobin added that the minister equally supported many sons and daughters of the area to occupy various political offices, both elective and appointments.

He assured the minister that the men, women and youths of the LGA were solidly behind him and Tinubu.

Speaking on behalf of Okrika women, Mrs Linda Stewart, Deputy Speaker of the Rivers State Assembly, representing Okrika Constituency, said Wike's support to women was unprecedented, and prayed for him to succeed in all his endeavours.

Wike, in his remarks, thanked the people for their support and for standing firm with Tinubu.

He described Tinubu as a man who keeps his promise, and urged the people of Okrika to continue to support people with good and trusted character.

The minister, who also visited the ‘Amanyanabo’ of Okochiri Kingdom, King Akete Tom, in his place, commended the traditional leader for keeping his people united.

He told the monarch that a decision had been made on the 2027 election, adding that his children would tell him the details in due course.

He, however, appealed to the traditional ruler not to interfere with the upcoming political activities but advise the people whenever they go wrong.

“It is not going to be business as usual. Allow us to play our game, and if there is any problem, call us to settle,” the minister said.

PoliticsWe Won't Let Those We Accepted Into the PDP To Kill Our Party - Wike by CapitalLens(op): 9:37pm On Dec 07, 2025
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has said himself and other founding members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will not allow those who came from other parties to join the PDP to kill the party.

The Minister also berated a faction of the party for violating court judgments by conducting what he described as an “illegal convention,” insisting that the party must respect judicial processes if it intends to regain public confidence.

Wike spoke on Sunday. December 7, 2025, during the PDP's 104th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held at his official residence in Abuja.

He accused the faction of disregarding two substantive judgments of the Federal High Court, which he said had ruled on the matter, yet they proceeded to hold their own convention and later approached a State High Court to seek recognition.

Wike said; “You went to a State High Court to sue INEC, asking that the convention must take place, and you got an ex-parte order to override judgments of the Federal High Court. How do you disobey two final judgments and still claim leadership?”

He further stated that the same group returned to another court, seeking validation after failing to comply with lawful rulings.

“You had the convention without obeying the court, and now you are back asking a Federal High Court to recognize you. If INEC already recognizes you, what exactly are you going to court for?” he asked.

The FCT Minister warned that such actions could jeopardize the future of the party, stressing that leaders must not allow selfish interests to destroy the political platform that has existed since 1998.

“We must not allow our party to die. Leadership requires commitment and honesty, not propaganda. If we don’t respect our own laws, how do we earn respect from Nigerians?” Wike stated.

He called on party faithful to support lawful leadership and unite to rebuild the PDP in line with democratic principles and judicial integrity.

Meanwhile, the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the PDP has been urged to constitute a Caretaker Committee to guide the party forward as the tenure of the current National Working Committee expires tomorrow.

Addressing the 104th meeting of the party, the BoT Chairman, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, emphasized that the transition plan aligns with the party constitution and is meant to ensure administrative continuity, unity, and stability across all structures of the party.

The BoT also highlighted the ongoing establishment of caretaker leadership in certain states and zones — such as Anambra and the South-East — where congresses could not be held earlier, describing these efforts as necessary to prevent leadership gaps and enhance party organization.

PoliticsFCTA To Partner With Private Sector For Smooth Operation Of Its Bus Terminals by CapitalLens(op): 7:04pm On Nov 29, 2025

…AS WIKE BEMOANS SLOW PACE OF WORK ON 15KM PAI-GOMANI ROAD PROJECT IN KWALI

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, has disclosed that the FCT Administration will work with the private sector for the smooth operation of the bus terminals in the territory.

Barr. Wike disclosed this while briefing journalists, shortly after a routine inspection of ongoing infrastructure projects in the Abuja city centre and the Area Councils on Saturday, November 29, 2025.

He said the Administration plans to partner with private individuals to contribute buses and taxis, all painted in the Abuja colour, but the government will kickstart the operations of the terminals with its own fleet of vehicles, stressing that the initiative will help to eliminate the "one chance" syndrome by ensuring vehicles are identifiable.

“Eventually, the government will have to partner with the private individuals, but for now government has to put in their own contribution so we can start off the operation of the bus terminals with vehicles that will be painted in the Abuja colour. That again will help as we try to eliminate the one chance syndrome. You know you are entering a vehicle and you can identify it. So private people are also going to be part of it, but this is our own contribution before that starts”, he stated.

Providing more update on the Central Business District (CBD) Bus terminal which he inspected, the Minister noted its high quality and uniqueness in comparison to the recently commissioned Kugbo and Mabushi terminals and commended the contractor for a good job.

He said, “As regards the bus terminal in Central Area, I am quite impressed with the quality of the job. If you check it, it is quite different from the one commissioned in Kugbo and Mabushi. The contractor is bent on finishing it by the end of the year. I believe by then the vehicles which were procured for the take-off of those terminals would have also arrived”.

Speaking on the Pai/Gomani road which he also inspected, the Minister expressed strong dissatisfaction over the slow pace of work on the crucial 15km road which connects remote communities in Kwali Area Council to the Abuja/Lokoja Expressway.

The Minister noted that the 15-kilometer Pai-Gomani road project was awarded before the A2 to Pai section of the road of the same length, which has since been completed and commissioned, frowning at the delay and non-performance by the contractor.

He also expressed serious frustration over the issue of unauthorized cost variation on the project, lamenting that the purported variation amount was nearly equivalent to the original project cost, which exceeded his ministerial approval limit.

According to the Minister, “Frankly speaking, I’m not too impressed. That road was awarded before the A2 to Pai, and we have commissioned that. It appears there isn’t much communication between the STDD and the contractor.”

“There appears to be issues of variation, and I am not too comfortable with that, and when we go back, we will look at that, and those who did not do what they are supposed to do will have to be sanctioned because people believe that you can go ahead without certain approvals. I don’t have the power to give that kind of approval when it comes to that kind of amount of money”.

The Minister warned that any official within the Satellite Town Development Department (STDD) found culpable for carrying out work or recommending variations without following the required approval process will be sanctioned.

He said, “The Satellite Town Development did not seek approval because the amount I was told is almost the same amount that the original cost was awarded and you know I don’t have such power. That contract was awarded by the Federal Executive Council, so it is beyond my power, and for you to get that, you have to write to the President to get approval for variation, and then you go back to Department of Public Procurement to approve the cost, and then you go back to the Federal Executive Council for the final approval. That’s why I said those who carried it out without seeking for approval, will have to be sanctioned”.

Despite the setback on the Pai-Gomani road, the Minister revealed the award of a new contract for 13 kilometres Gomani to Yangoji road to be carried out by Zeberced Construction Company which also executed the A2-Pai road project. He expressed confidence in the capacity of the contractor to deliver a good job in time for the third anniversary celebration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The FCT Minister used the occasion to also emphasize the commitment of the FCT Administration to the provision of rural infrastructure in accordance with the Renewed Hope Agenda, citing the unprecedented developmental projects across the FCT Area Councils, including the newly re-awarded Apo-Karshi road and the Kubwa to Bwari road projects, among others, as examples.

He said, “This is the first time that satellite towns have been given priority. As I speak to you, you know we have cancelled the abandoned Apo-Karshi road project, which has now been given to Salini Construction Company (SCC), and as you go there now, work has started seriously. We have also started the one of Kubwa to Bwari, being handled by the same SCC. We also have the road to Kubwa where the quarries are. I am very happy with the kind of development that this administration has brought to the satellite towns.

“So, people should appreciate the job this administration is doing, and I am happy that I am part of it, and I have seen the kind of development that has been taking place, not only in the city, but also in the satellite towns” Barr. Wike stated.

PoliticsWike Seeks Enhanced Economic Relations With Turkey by CapitalLens(op): 8:58am On Nov 18, 2025
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Barr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike has expressed the FCT Administration's commitment to strengthening bilateral economic relations between Abuja and Turkey, particularly with its largest city, Istanbul.

Barr. Wike made this known in Abuja on Monday, November 17, 2025, when he received the Turkish Ambassador to Nigeria, Mehemet Poroy, on a courtesy visit.

During the visit, Barr. Wike highlighted the existing cordial relationship between Nigeria and Turkey and noted the significant presence of Turkish nationals engaged in various businesses within Abuja.

He reaffirmed the FCTA's commitment to providing a free and secure environment where Turkish citizens can carry out their legitimate businesses without molestation, and expressed the FCT Administration's keen interest in exploring concrete partnerships to boost economic exchange.

The Minister also invited the Ambassador to approach the FCT Administration with any specific areas where assistance or cooperation is required.

He said, “I would like to particularly see how we can partner with Istanbul to improve our economic relations. I know there are a lot of Turkish nationals who are here carrying out one business or the other. It is our intention to provide a free environment where your citizens will carry out their businesses without molestation.

“Of course, you know, the relationship between Nigeria and Turkey has been very cordial, the economic relationship has also been very commendable, and we want to improve on it. So, we think we can partner with you.

“If there are things in particular you believe will be of assistance from the administration, do not hesitate to approach us. We will be able to help. Also, explore ways in which FCT can cooperate and benefit in terms of economic ties with the city of Istanbul or any other city you think can have very good economic ties with us”, Barr. Wike stated.

He thanked the Turkish Embassy for expediting the visa process for Nigerian and Abuja residents, which, he said, has eased travel for businessmen and encouraged greater trade.

In his submission to the Minister, the Turkish Ambassador emphasized that the economic aspect is perhaps the most significant component of the relationship between the two nations and noted the potential for increased bilateral trade between the two countries.

The Ambassador reiterated that the simplification of visa procedures for Nigerian businessmen was a crucial initial step to facilitate people-to-people and business-to-business contact.

He used the opportunity to thank the FCT Minister and the institutions under his authority for the excellent services they provide to the diplomatic community and residents of Abuja.

PoliticsWike Dismisses Reports Of Media Ban As Fake News by CapitalLens(op): 11:08pm On Oct 24, 2025

…SAYS HE’LL CONTINUE TO INFORM THE PUBLIC ABOUT GOVERNMENT ACTIVITIES

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, has dismissed reports that the Presidency had banned him from holding media chats, describing the speculation as unfounded and false.

Speaking during his first monthly media parley after concluding a massive 20-day project flag-offs and commissioning exercise, the Minister advised members of the public to disregard such reports which he said was engineered by those with hidden agenda.

He said, “Somebody said that the President has banned me from having a media chat. That is the same junk that they carry. Who is responsible for this? The same man who has been collecting money from people, and then Nigerians are listening to him – Oh Sahara reporters carried this and that. How will the President ban me from letting people know what the government is doing as it pertains to the FCT? So, it’s not everything you read or whatever you hear that you begin to take it seriously”.

Barr. Wike clarified that he was not speaking for the Federal Government, but rather informing the public about activities of the FCT Administration. "I’m not speaking for the Federal government. I’m letting the world know what we are doing in the FCT under Tinubu's administration", he said, noting that the same people who criticize his media activities are the first to always complain about being kept in the dark about government activities.

The FCT Minister insisted that he has a responsibility to inform members of the public about ongoing and future projects and disclosed that the next phase of project flag-offs and commissioning will focus purely on the education sector.

Barr. Wike equally addressed several critical issues facing the FCT, including open grazing, activation of the Mabushi and Kugbo bus terminals, land administration and security, among others.

He described the issue of open grazing as a matter of national security, confirming that the FCTA was in discussions with the Ministry of Livestock and other stakeholders, including the Miyetti Allah cattle breeders’ association, to provide ranches. He expressed confidence that the issue would be resolved soon with the collaboration of security agencies.

On when the bus terminals would be opened for public use to alleviate pressure on transportation infrastructure, the Minister acknowledged existing operational problems and revealed that the FCT EXCO had awarded a contract for the management of the Mabushi and Kugbo bus terminals.

Barr. Wike also responded to criticisms over the recent revocation of undeveloped estate lands within the River Parks Estate and allegations that the FCTA was taking away estate lands, insisting that the FCTA only intervened to ensure the right thing was done. He clarified that the government is not interested in taking over people's land, but emphasized that beneficiaries of land allocations must develop them within the stipulated time frame or risk revocation.

Reassuring residents that the city is safe, the Minister noted that isolated security incidents do not define the overall situation in the FCT. He assured of the government's commitment to finding lasting solutions to existing problems but cautioned that all issues cannot be addressed at the same time.

Speaking on national politics, the Minister stated that the recent cross-carpeting of some Governors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) signals that all was not well with his party (PDP) and insisted that the PDP must put its house in order before it could challenge the ruling APC, citing the lingering issue of the position of the National Secretary as a destabilizing factor.

Barr. Wike however maintained that he remains a member of the PDP and dismissed insinuations that he was planning to join the APC. He urged the party to follow due process in organizing its convention, stressing that he would not participate in what he described as an ‘illegal convention’.

Responding to news that the acclaimed leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, had listed him as a witness in his ongoing trial, Barr. Wike stated that he was unaware of the reason, but assured that he would appear in court to give evidence if he is officially subpoenaed. He also commented on recent protests by Kanu's supporters, saying security agencies were "on top of the situation."

The Minister also debunked reports that he tried to influence the choice of the recently appointed INEC Chairman, describing the reports as "totally rubbish" and urged the public to disregard such unfounded reports and media propaganda.

PoliticsPresident Tinubu Approves New Auditorium For Nigerian Law School by CapitalLens(op): 5:53am On Oct 21, 2025

…AS AGF FLAGS-OFF CONSTRUCTION OF OVER 600-BED HOSTELS IN THE SCHOOL

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the immediate provision of a new, state-of-the-art auditorium for the Nigerian Law School, to further enhance legal education infrastructure.

The FCT Minister, Barr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike made the revelation in Abuja on Monday, October 20, 2025, during the flag-off ceremony for the construction of a 600-bed student hostels at the Abuja campus of the Institution, in Bwari.

Barr. Wike explained that the President’s approval followed an observation that the anticipated increase in student intake occasioned by the building of the new hostel necessitated a review of the existing lecture facilities. He stressed that the intervention demonstrates President Tinubu’s commitment to enhancing the nation’s legal education infrastructure.

He said, “I was discussing with my son who by the grace of God was called to Bar in the last Call to Bar Ceremony …I said now that we are providing hostels that will take almost 600 students, does it mean that they will now admit more students. He expressed doubt about whether the auditorium will accommodate everybody, which means they require another auditorium. Luckily for us, I was privileged to meet Mr. President last night and I tabled this to him. He said, go back and make sure another auditorium is built for the Nigerian Law School”.

The Minister praised President Tinubu’s decisive leadership, noting that his administration has intervened directly in the institution more than any government since the campus opened in 1997.

He also extended commendation to the Attorney General of the Federation, Chief Lateef Fagbemi, for his relentless support and commitment to the justice sector, saying, "All we are doing in the justice sector today is because of his support". He cited the ongoing digitisation of the FCT High Court as another collaborative success story that has received Presidential backing and budgetary approval.

Barr. Wike further praised the Director-General of the Nigerian Law School for his selfless leadership, especially for prioritizing the infrastructural needs of other campuses, such as the completed hostel and auditorium project at the Yenagoa Law School campus, stressing that history will be kind to him.

Speaking on the 600-bed hostel accommodation, Barr. Wike, noted that it is the second major intervention at the Law School within two years of the current tenure of President Tinubu.

The Minister recalled that following the earlier flag-off of staff-quarters at the Nigerian Law School, a promise was made through the Attorney General of the Federation to provide the hostel accommodation.

He said, "Today, we are here to fulfill that promise that Mr. President made", noting that the new 600-bed capacity hostel will significantly alleviate the accommodation challenges faced by students.

The Minister confirmed that the construction, awarded to a trusted contractor, will not exceed the 12-month timeline.

While flagging off the project, the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, who was visibly elated, thanked the FCT Minister for his consistent support to the Nigerian Law School. He praised the Minister's decisive nature, saying, "One thing I know is that you don’t promise what you will not do. Take it or leave it, love him or hate him, you will know where he stands on any issue", he said, and likened the Minister to a Computer Based Test (CBT) which results are instantaneous.

The AGF also acknowledged the Minister's extensive history of intervention in the justice sector, even before his ministerial appointment, including feats in Yenagoa and Port Harcourt. He confirmed the judicious use of previous donations, which include four Hilux vans and three Coaster buses, in addition to the flag-off of staff quarters, and now, the 600-bed student hostel.

While noting that many people have come and talked without walking their talk, Chief Fagbemi further extended profound appreciation to President Tinubu for his numerous supports through the FCT Minister.

Earlier in his goodwill message, the Director General, Nigerian Law School, Prof. Isa Hayatou Ciroma (SAN), stressed that the hostel accommodation will go a long way in assisting the Nigerian Law School to fulfill its mandate and thanked President Tinubu for approving the project. He also extended appreciation to the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation for his support, while also acknowledging the significant contributions of the FCT Minister to the development of judiciary infrastructure, describing him as “our great benefactor”.

Providing technical details of the 600-bed hostel project, Executive Secretary, Federal Capital Development Authority, Engr Richard Yunana Dauda, stated that the provision of hostels in the Nigerian Law School, Bwari, was in line with FCDA’s mandate of providing public buildings and infrastructure in the FCT, adding that, on completion, the hostels will address the problems of shortage of hostel accommodation and the resultant limitation with regard to the intake of students.

Engr Dauda further specified that the scope of work consisted of two suspended floor hostel blocks with a total of 158, two-bedded ensuite rooms meant for two students each, bringing it to a total of 316 bed spaces per hostel, and therefore a total of 632 student ensuite rooms for both male and female hostels.

He said facilities to be provided in the hostels include common rooms, offices, library, courtyard, furnishing, and external works landscaping as well as water supply services, while expressing the hope that when completed, the hostel will provide a befitting accommodation for the law students, enhance the quality of legal education and thereby create opportunity for more students to be admitted.

PoliticsWike Hails President Tinubu Over Improved Funding To States by CapitalLens(op): 6:19am On Oct 16, 2025
…AS HE FLAGS OFF CONSTRUCTION OF OSEX MAIN CARRIAGEWAYS FROM RR1 TO RR2

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike has hailed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the improved financial situation of states across the country, and the FCT, describing the President’s leadership style as visionary and purposeful.

Barr. Wike spoke in Abuja on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, during the flagging off of the main carriageways of the Outer Southern Expressway (OSEX) from Ring Road I Junction to Ring Road II Junction.

He stated that the country's improved financial turnaround today resulted from President Tinubu's bold decision to end the fuel subsidy, a move he said previous administrations had avoided.

Barr. Wike said many States were now able to pay salaries and embark on infrastructural projects as a result, and no longer running to the banks for loans.

According to the Minister, “Today, the leadership of the President has made it possible for all the States and the Federal Capital Territory not to be running to banks again... Every State now has money, not only to pay salaries, not only to carry out other governance activities, but also to embark on projects.

“So, if it is for that reason that so many people are going to support Mr. President, I think it is worthwhile…Now, no Governor will talk about leaving debts for his successor, unlike what used to happen before. That is leadership. It was not possible until Mr. President made that decision that this subsidy must come to an end. But for that, most states wouldn’t have been able to pay salaries today. For FCT, it would have been difficult", Barr. Wike stressed.

Reacting to the recent decamping of some governors from APC to PDP, the Minister took a swipe at his former critics who accused him of working for the APC while a member of the opposition, People's Democratic Party, pointing out that many of them had since joined the APC themselves. He said they should commend him for his actions, which, he said, were ultimately beneficial to their current political destination.

"All of them now are in APC. So, if it is true, they should commend me for working for where they are heading to. So, I should be commended for doing a good job for them," the Minister said.

Speaking on the Outer Southern Expressway (OSEX) project, the Minister affirmed that the flag-off is a fulfillment of a promise made earlier during the commissioning of the left-hand service carriageway.

He said the dualization of the road is aimed at decongesting the area's heavy traffic, which he described as a key part of the FCT Administration's promise to provide happiness to the people. He also announced progress on the relocation of Apo traders to Wasa, confirming that the FCT Administration had received the cost for providing infrastructure at the new site.

The Minister said, “We also said that we are going to relocate the Apo traders to their new site. Let me announce to you today, by the grace of God, we have received the cost of providing infrastructure from the Executive Secretary of the FCDA, so that we will provide infrastructure in the new site where they will be relocated.

"Every promise made by this administration under the leadership of His Excellency, Mr. President, be assured that we will fulfill all the promises we have made to the people of the FCT", the Minister pledged and thanked the Area Council Chairmen for their continuous support.

Earlier, while delivering the Vote of Thanks, the Minister of State, FCT, Dr Mariya Mahmoud, described the commencement of the OSEX main carriageway project as another remarkable achievement of the FCT Administration, stressing that the road initiative will reduce traffic gridlock in Abuja and also enhance the quality of life of the teeming residents.

She also expressed profound gratitude to President Tinubu for his visionary leadership, exemplified by the Renewed Hope Agenda, and thanked the FCT Minister for his steadfast commitment to the development of the capital city.

In the project overview, Executive Secretary, Federal Capital Development Authority, Engr Richard Yunana Dauda, stressed the Administration's commitment to enhancing efficient road networks that resolve connectivity issues and support the long-term development of the Federal Capital Territory.

He revealed that the Outer Southern Expressway commenced from the Villa Roundabout in Asokoro District, traversing through Apo, Wasa to Kuje and then terminating at the intersection with the Kaduna-Abuja-Lokoja Expressway in Gwagwalada, a total of 67 kilometres.

Engr. Dauda said that the full scope of the OSEX is a 10 Lane Expressway comprising of two main carriageways of three lanes each and two service carriageways of two lanes each, adding that the road had been developed progressively in stages with the first stage, from the villa roundabout to the Ring Road 1, having been fully developed as a 10 Lane expressway.

He said the project being flagged off was the two main carriageways from Ring Road 1 to Ring Road 2, expected to be completed in one year, adding that on completion, the project will rapidly evacuate traffic from the city center to the southern fringes, thereby reducing travel time in and out of the city and enhancing development along the southern fringes of the Federal Capital City.

PoliticsWike Flags Off Construction Of Residential Quarters For Heads Of Courts by CapitalLens(op): 7:34am On Oct 14, 2025
…SAYS NO FCT JUDGE WILL LIVE IN RENTED APARTMENT BY THE END OF PRESIDENT TINUBU’S FIRST TENURE

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike has flagged off the construction of five-bedroom duplexes in Asokoro District to serve as official residential quarters for the Heads of Courts in the FCT.

The beneficiaries of the high-profile project, which also includes a three-bedroom guest house, are the President of the Court of Appeal, the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, the Chief Judge of the FCT High Court, and the President of the National Industrial Court.

Speaking during the flag-off ceremony in Abuja on Monday, October 13, 2025, Barr. Wike described the project as the "most important" of all the infrastructure projects undertaken by the administration, stressing that providing secure, high-quality residential accommodation was crucial in encouraging the independence of the judiciary and promoting the rule of law.

The Minister revealed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu initiated the policy upon assuming office, recognizing that judicial officers should not be living in rented homes where their security and comfort could be compromised.

"You can’t afford to continue to see judges living in rented houses... These judges preside over criminal matters and other serious matters, of course, you never can tell what will happen", the Minister noted, recalling a past instance where a presiding justice was forced to squat with a relative for two years.

Barr. Wike emphasized that the project was fully backed by the Federal Government, being provided for in the FCT 2024 and 2025 budgets approved by the National Assembly and assented to by the President.

Crucially, the Minister announced that the newly constructed duplexes, as a policy shift under President Tinubu, will become the property of the Heads of Courts upon their retirement.

"As they are retiring, this property becomes their own. That is the approval of Mr. President, and that is why we issued the C of Os in their names", Barr. Wike affirmed.

The Minister gave a strict deadline, stating that the project, which had commenced, must be completed in 12 months and warned the FCDA and the contractor that there would be no variation.

Beyond the four residences for the Heads of Courts, the Minister restated that the FCT Administration is also building 10 Duplexes for the Judges of the Court of Appeal, 10 Duplexes for the Judges of the Federal High Court, and 20 Duplexes for the Judges of the FCT High Court to provide them with dignified and befitting accommodation.

The Minister equally assured the President of the National Industrial Court that residential accommodation for their judges would also be provided, reiterating that President Tinubu always keeps to his promises.

He further pledged that before the end of the President's first term, no Judge of the FCT High Court will be living in a rented quarter.

“Let me also say what the President has done for the FCT. Before the first tenure of Mr. President ends, no Judge of the FCT High Court will be living in rented quarters. We are making sure that this is done”, he stated.

The Minister specifically thanked the Attorney General of the Federation for his exemplary support, noting that he had changed the narrative regarding the welfare of judicial officers. He said the FCT Administration has included the digitalization of FCT courts in the 2025 budget, through the collaboration of the Attorney General, adding that the General Council of the FCT has already been directed to immediately commence the project.

In his goodwill message, the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Chief Lateef Fagbemi, said the provision of secure and befitting accommodation for heads of courts will enhance operational independence, personal security and institutional dignity, thereby enabling judicial officers to discharge their duties with great focus and authority.

He described the initiative as a tangible expression of President Tinubu’s vision that a robust judiciary is essential to national development and the consolidation of democratic governance, and expressed profound appreciation to the FCT Minister for transforming executive support to practical outcomes that will benefit the justice system and the nation.

Providing an overview of the project, the Acting Executive Secretary of the FCDA, Engr. Richard Yunana Dauda, stated that the FCT Administration, in line with the Abuja Master Plan, made provision for the development of four fully furnished and serviced accommodations for Heads of Courts to address the dearth of accommodation confronting the judiciary, which he said was impeding the optimal performance of the third arm of government.

Engr. Dauda disclosed that the project located in Asokoro District, Cadastral Zone A04 was awarded to Messrs. Detailed 2 Dot Development Nigeria Limited and would be completed within 12 months, while the contractor had already mobilized to site.

He said the scope of work includes the Construction of four residences, each featuring a five-bedroom duplex (main house) with a three-bedroom guest house, service quarters, worship centers, a swimming pool, full furnishing and servicing, fencing, external works, landscaping, car parks, water supply, and power supply facilities.

The perspective offered here suffers from a fundamental flaw: The author is simply too far removed from the trenches to accurately assess the dynamics within the current administration under President Tinubu.

I'm sure the writer is one of the naysayers the President said have been advising him against working with Wike.

But make no mistake. President Tinubu is no rookie in this game. His political instincts are far more sophisticated than the article gives him credit for. His thinking and vision extends well beyond the comprehension of a paid and agenda-driven writer who is merely echoing the desires of elements seeking to exploit instability.

…AS HE FLAGS OFF THE CONSTRUCTION OF COLLECTOR ROAD CN2 IN KATAMPE DISTRICT

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom has promised FCT residents that the upcoming year will usher in a massive infrastructure shift, unlike anything witnessed since the FCT was created.

The Minister made the pledge on Thursday, October 9, 2025, during the flagging off of the construction of Collector Road CN2 in Katampe District, a vital project aimed at opening up the Gishiri area.

Barr. Wike noted the significance of the timing, as the FCT attains its golden age of 50 years by February next year, and pledged that it will “be a different year altogether that will really see massive infrastructure turnaround in the FCT, something nobody has seen since FCT was created”.

Speaking on the Collector Road CN2 road project, the FCT Minister recalled that after the commissioning of the Gishiri interchange and dualization project in June, he urged the contractor, Chinese Geoengineering Construction (CGC), to begin the linking of the road even before the contract was formally awarded, to ensure the project's maximum impact.

He commended the contractor for demonstrating faith in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, saying, "To the glory of God, they went ahead. Now we are in the process of awarding the contract and look at what they are doing. I want to commend CGC for having that trust and confidence in the government of President Tinubu".

The Minister also stated that the road project, along with others, is earmarked for inauguration during President Tinubu's third anniversary, adding that its completion is expected to significantly appreciate the value of real estate in the area, thereby allowing economic activities to thrive.

“This is one of the projects we have earmarked for Mr. President to inaugurate on his third anniversary celebration, and I know they will not fail us”, he stated, noting that the CGC is also executing other major FCT projects, including the water supply project in Karu, Karshi, Orozo, and Bwari, as well as the dualization of the Outer Southern Expressway (OSEX), which is an eight-lane road leading to Apo/Wasa District.

Barr. Wike further urged the company to continue utilizing local content to provide employment opportunities for FCT residents and solicited the support of residents to ensure the timely completion of the project

The FCT Minister also used the opportunity to issue a renewed warning about potential sabotage and vandalism targeting the "Light-Up Abuja" program, a project aimed at enhancing security across the city. He cited a recent incident where lights were out on the Airport Road despite repeated warnings, and urged the CGC, which is also involved in the lighting project, not to be discouraged by the acts of sabotage, which, he said, were intended to distract the administration.

“I urge you not to relent. There may be some sabotage, including vandalism, but know that all those things are just to distract us. I can assure you that my team and I are very determined. If there is one project we must achieve, it is the light-up Abuja”, Barr. Wike said.

Earlier, while delivering the vote of thanks, the Acting Head of Service, FCTA, Madam Grace Sabanti Nathan, thanked President Tinubu for his continuous support, which, she said, was enabling the FCT to deliver on the promises of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

She also extended gratitude to the National Assembly for its unwavering support for the FCT Administration and thanked the FCT Minister for his pragmatic and dynamic leadership, which had visibly changed the landscape of the FCT.

In his project overview, Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority, Engr Richard Yunana Dauda, said that the Collector Road CN2 was an inter-district road that connected Mabushi District to Katampe District, thereby facilitating movement within the various neighbourhoods of the districts.

He said the road, which started from Ahmadu Bello Way, near the Next Cash and Carry Junction, continued as a crescent connecting back to N11 by the Mabushi Bus Terminal. He added that the road further extends into Katampe District up to N16 Junction by Gishiri Village, connecting the Wole Soyinka Way and Shehu Shagari Way.

Engr. Dauda explained that construction work on the road, which totals 3.8km, includes earthworks, surface water drainage system, roadworks to asphalt pavement, water distribution network, ducts for power and telecommunication, as well as street lighting.

He revealed that when completed, the road will improve accessibility of residents within the districts, reduce travel time, enhance the overall development of Katampe District, and improve security, among other economic benefits.

Committing to the project, the Deputy Managing Director, China Geo-engineering Corporation (CGC) Nigeria Limited, Mr Lv Haiming, commended the Honourable Minister of the FCT for his concern for the people of Abuja. Highlighting the need to prioritize road construction, Haiming said roads were necessary to create wealth. He therefore pledged to complete the project in eight months, expressing the hope that the road would bring more wealth and opportunities to the local people, while assuring that at least 500 job opportunities would spring up with the commencement of work.

PoliticsWike Warns Against Unauthorized Street Naming In Abuja City Centre by CapitalLens(op): 6:11pm On Oct 08, 2025
...AS HE FLAGS OFF THE PROVISION OF ENGINEERING INFRASTRUCTURE IN PARTS OF GUZAPE AND ASOKORO DISTRICTS

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, has issued a stern warning against naming major roads and streets in the Abuja city center after private citizens by the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), without prior authorization.

The Minister issued the warning on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, while flagging off the construction of road networks in the Guzape District, a project that extends into the AIT neighborhoods of the Asokoro cadastral zone.

Speaking during the ceremony, Barr. Wike stated that the practice of the council authority, under the Chairman, Hon. Christopher Maikalangu, assigning names of private individuals to roads built and funded by the FCT Administration in the city center was "unacceptable".

He clarified that street names should be reserved for individuals who have made significant contributions to the nation or the FCT, to properly immortalize them, and advised that naming streets after individuals who pay a fee to the Area Council should be restricted to satellite towns where the council provided the infrastructure.

"We cannot be doing roads and even infrastructure... you wake up in the morning, I don't know who writes to you, before I wake up, you name the street and the roads that we are doing with our money", the Minister stated and firmly instructed the AMAC Chairman to "go and refund them their money".

The Minister emphasized that the FCT Administration should be aware of and approve the names, saying: "You don't just name an important street after somebody when you don't know where the money is coming from. You will not do that again", he warned the Chairman.

Speaking on the Guzape road project (Cadastral AO9, Lots 1 & 2), the Minister affirmed that the development was a testament to the promises of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which, he said, were being fulfilled.

"Those who are living here, will they say that they have not felt the impact of President Tinubu's administration? They’ve been here for years with no road. But Tinubu has come, and now there is a road", he stressed.

Barr. Wike reiterated that President Tinubu intends to provide essential infrastructure and road networks across all parts of Abuja to ensure the city takes a different look and competes with other cities of the world. He urged residents to continue to support the present administration.

He commended the contractor, Dantata and Sawoe Construction Nigeria Limited, urging them to use their extensive experience to complete the job on schedule to discourage the need for project variation, while also tasking the company to employ local youth and residents to provide them with economic opportunities.

Earlier, while delivering the vote of thanks, the Minister of State for the FCT, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, lauded the commencement of the Guzape road project, describing it as another bold step in transforming the nation’s capital.

She affirmed that the projects are "testaments to the vision, commitment, and also dedication and determination of the administration of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu”, and extended gratitude to the FCT Minister, whom she referred to as "Mr. Project”, whose leadership was making the Abuja project a reality.

In his project overview, the Executive Secretary, FCDA, Engr Richard Yunana Dauda, explained that engineering infrastructure had already been fully provided in Asokoro and Guzape Districts, however, later in the course of the development, additional layouts were created, which had not been captured in the original scope.

He said the new layouts consisted of 24 short roads totaling about 9.2 km, adding that the infrastructure to be provided included earthworks, surface water drainage pipe networks, box and pipe culverts, streetlights, power supply, and telecommunication ducts.

Engr Dauda also stated that once completed, the road will improve accessibility, enhance security, improve interconnectivity, and the standard of living of residents of Asokoro and Guzape districts. He requested the cooperation of residents to ensure a smooth and timely project completion.

Giving his commitment to the project, Managing Director, Dantata and Sawoe Nigeria Limited, Mr. Udo Heidschuster, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to partner with the FCT Administration, pledging to deliver to the highest technical standards. He further lauded the FCT Minister, saying that under Barr Wike, the FCT had witnessed extraordinary infrastructure, pointing out that new works springing up across Nigeria's capital speak louder than words.

PoliticsContinue Supporting President Tinubu, Wike Urges FCT Residents by CapitalLens(op): 7:00pm On Oct 07, 2025
…AS HE FLAGS OFF REHABILITATION OF 15KM OLD KEFFI ROAD

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, has called on residents to continue to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, asserting that the administration has fulfilled every promise made to the people.

Barr. Wike made the call on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, while officially flagging off the rehabilitation of the 15-kilometer Old Keffi Road, from Kado Village to Dei-Dei junction on the Outer Northern Expressway, Abuja, stressing that residents have had only the best from the present government. He added that the Tinubu-led administration was doing its best to change things for the better for Nigerians and the Abuja people.

The Minister said, “I will urge you to also continue to support this government. Every promise Mr. President has made, particularly to the people of Abuja, we have always done it to show you our government is a government of making promises and fulfilling promises.

“I urge you to continue to support the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Grand Commander of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (GCFR). Don’t bother about those who are not serious. Don’t bother about those who had the opportunities to contribute to bringing meaningful development to this country and to Abuja but did not do it.

“Today, Mr. President is changing the narrative as far as Abuja is concerned. Do not make the mistake of looking for people whom we don’t know what will happen to us if we give them a third chance. We gave them the first chance, and they failed us. We gave them a second chance, but they failed us. If you make the mistake of the third chance, they will kill you”.

Highlighting the scale of development in the FCT under President Tinubu’s administration, the Minister stated that 73 out of the 105 schools in the FCT were undergoing rehabilitation with 33 more set to be flagged off for rehabilitation, adding that the FCT Administration had mapped out 27 days for project flag-offs in the nation’s capital, an achievement he described as the first of its kind.

The Minister pointed out that the rehabilitation of the old Keffi Road was in fulfillment of a promise made during the commissioning of the Saburi I and Saburi II emergency roads, which were among the first projects approved by President Tinubu upon assuming office.

"To the glory of God, we have come to fulfill that promise that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has made”, he said, stressing that the road will enhance connectivity and ease traffic flow when completed.

Barr. Wike further disclosed that the contract was awarded to Messrs. Lubrics Construction Company, the same contractor who executed the Saburi I and II road projects, due to the FCT Administration’s confidence in their capacity and quality of work, and urged the contractor to “prioritize the employment of local youths and residents, both men and women, for the project to help them fend for their families".

The Minister, while recalling how the Chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Hon. Christopher Maikalangu, specifically requested the rehabilitation of the old Keffi Road, along with the Ketti to Kabusa and Kabusa to Takushara roads, during the commissioning of the Saburi roads, used the occasion to also emphasize the importance of electing good representatives.

"What this means is that in choosing those to represent you, choose people who know what you want", he advised, and praised the AMAC Chairman as a "good and true representative" worthy of re-election to ensure continuity in prioritizing the needs of the people.

Delivering the vote of thanks, the FCT Minister of State, Dr Mariya Mahmoud, said the rehabilitation of the vital road would enhance the quality of life for residents and thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the positive impact of his Renewed Hope Agenda in the FCT.

Dr Mahmoud also extended appreciation to the FCT Minister for his tireless efforts in infrastructural development and creating urban growth, while also thanking the leadership of the National Assembly for their invaluable support.

In his overview of the project, Executive Secretary, Federal Capital Development Authority, Engr Richard Yunana Dauda, went historical when he revealed that the Old Keffi Road predated the creation of Abuja as the Federal Capital Territory. He said the road used to be the major connecting route from Suleja in Niger State to Keffi in Nasarawa State and other northern cities via Old Wuse Village and Old Maitama Village.

Apart from being historically significant during colonial times, he explained that the road was equally strategic due to its socioeconomic impact in boosting commerce by providing access to regional markets in Dei Dei, Gwagwa, as well as the Pantaker markets, cutting across eight districts.

He said, on completion, the road would improve the socioeconomic lives of the inhabitants of communities in the area, improve infrastructure to the people, while enhancing general traffic circulation and safety of road users. He added that the 15km road was expected to be completed in 18 months and commended the contractor for having mobilized to the project site.

In his statement of commitment, Technical Manager, Lubric Construction Company, Engr. Anthony El-Khoury, thanked the Minister for his support and confidence in the company and promised to work with all stakeholders to ensure the timely delivery of the project in accordance with specifications.

PoliticsAbuja Is Safe, Secure, Wike Assures by CapitalLens(op): 3:03am On Oct 05, 2025
….AS HE INSPECTS ONGOING KEY INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike has reassured residents that Abuja is a safe and secure city, while also highlighting significant progress on key infrastructure projects in the Wuye District and Kuje Area Council.

The Minister made these statements in Abuja on Saturday, October 4, 2025, following a routine inspection of ongoing work on the Wuye District Infrastructure and the Federal Highway 105 from the Umar Musa Yar'Adua Expressway to Kuje township.

Responding to a question about security concerns in the nation’s capital, Barrister Wike, emphasized that there is improved security in the FCT compared to what obtained in the past, stressing that isolated incidents of insecurity do not define the city’s overall safety.

"If there is one safe city in this country, I think Abuja is that city," the Minister stated, noting that the "Light Up Abuja" program, which involves installing solar streetlights across districts and expressways, is also a strategic initiative to further enhance security.

He said, “The problem we have here is that when one incident happens, we forget that three months ago, nothing happened. You should give us and the security agencies credit that we are doing quite a lot to make Abuja safe, and Abuja has been safe.

“We do agree that something may happen but that does not mean that Abuja is not safe…I don’t want us to take that to mean that the city is not safe. If there is one safe city in this country, I think Abuja is that city”, Barr. Wike added.

Speaking on the projects inspected, the Minister expressed satisfaction with the pace and progress of work, noting that Arab Contractors, the firm handling the Wuye District infrastructure, has assured that the project is nearing completion, with the road expected to be finished within 10 days.

Barr. Wike also praised the work on the Airport Road to Kuje dual carriageway, which he had visited multiple times, noting that the 8-lane road will significantly reduce travel time, allowing Kuje residents to reach the city center in just 15 to 20 minutes. He expressed confidence that the road will be inaugurated during President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's third anniversary celebration.

He said, “For a regular passerby who knows this area very well, if you come here now, you will give it to them; Arab Contractor has done a good job. You can see how beautiful the landscape is. We believe that, God willing, just as they have promised, with our support, and we will continue to support. Latest, during the third anniversary of Mr. President, we believe that this road will be one of the roads that will be inaugurated to the delight of residents of Kuje and the entire people of Abuja, and of course to the happiness of all Nigerians”.

“The level of infrastructure is such that we have not seen before, and everybody will attest to the fact that if you are living in Kuje, you don’t need to go and find a house in the city to live. By the time this road is commissioned, which is not less than 8-lane dual carriageway, in about 15 or 20 minutes, you are already in the city centre and that’s what development is all about. That’s what the Renewed Hope Agenda is all about. So, we are happy”, the Minister stated.

Addressing sanitation challenges, Barr. Wike also confirmed that the FCT Administration is actively removing dumped refuse, particularly along Airport Road and in the Nyanya/Karshi area. He revealed plans to award new contracts for refuse disposal within the next two weeks, promising to select only competent contractors with the capacity to ensure that the city remains clean.

“We believe that in the next two weeks, the contract will be formally awarded for refuse disposal. That, I can tell you, will help us quite a lot”, the Minister stated.

PoliticsWike Flags Off Construction Of Access Road In Kaura District by CapitalLens(op): 8:27am On Oct 01, 2025
…SAYS GOOD ROAD NETWORK WILL BOOST NIGERIA’S PROSPECT OF HOSTING COMMONWEALTH GAMES IN 2030

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike has officially flagged off the construction of Arterial Road S1 with a three-span bridge from Ring Road II to the FCT Fire Service station in Kaura District, Abuja.

Speaking during the project flag-off ceremony in Abuja, Barrister Wike stated that the very crucial road will not only open up the Kaura District for development but will also enhance the operational capacity of the Fire Service Station within the area.

The Minister said, “It will help the fire service station in case of emergencies. By the time this road is constructed with a three-span bridge, of course, anywhere there is any fire incident and they are called upon, they will respond immediately. Again, this is also to contribute to their efficiency in their job delivery”.

Barr. Wike expressed confidence that the contractor, Infiouest Construction Company, which is currently undertaking the Abuja/Kaduna/Zaria Road, will deliver a good quality job and appealed to the company to also give opportunity to the youths to participate in the road construction.

The Minister, while noting that the ongoing provision of massive road networks across the FCT was anchored on the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, expressed confidence that it will enhance Nigeria’s prospect of hosting the Commonwealth Games in 2030.

He said, “I understand that Nigeria is bidding to host the Commonwealth Games, and it will be difficult for us to achieve that if we don’t have a good network of roads. When the Committee comes and they see that the basic infrastructure is being provided, that gives us the leverage to be given the hosting rights of the Commonwealth Games.

“So, all these linkages, all these networks of roads are also geared to showcase to the world that we have a city that can host the Commonwealth Games”.

Stressing that the construction and rehabilitation of key roads in each of the six Area Councils was designed to extend development beyond the city centre, Barr. Wike reiterated that Abuja city will compete with some of the developed cities of the world by the end of President Tinubu’s first tenure.

"As I have said before, it is the hope of the Renewed Hope Agenda that before the first tenure of Mr. President ends, Abuja will be a different place. Abuja will be competing with some other cities of the world", the Minister stated.

Minister of State, FCT, Dr Mariya Mahmoud, while delivering the vote of thanks, expressed deep appreciation to President Tinubu for his leadership and vision in the provision of infrastructure that directly improves the lives of the people and thanked the FCT Minister for his consistent drive to transform Abuja into a modern, functional, and inclusive city.

Providing an overview of the road project, the Acting Executive Secretary, Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Engr. Richard Yunana Dauda, said access roads being developed under the project included part of Arterial Road S1 to connect to the Ring Road II in collector Road CS2, as well as a minor access road that formed part of the Kaura District Development.

He said the scope of work includes the construction of 2.4km of asphalt-paved roads with the three-span bridge, surface water drainage, as well as erosion control measures, among other engineering services, adding that the road project, during its construction, will provide direct and indirect job opportunities.

Managing Director, Infiouest Construction Company, Mr Joseph Abujaoude, thanked the Minister for entrusting the company with the project and pledged the timely delivery of quality and sustainable infrastructure in line with global standards.

PoliticsWike Flags Off Construction Of Vital Access Roads In Karsana District by CapitalLens(op): 8:53pm On Sep 26, 2025
…REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO RENEWED HOPE AGENDA OF PRESIDENT TINUBU

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, has officially flagged off the construction of access roads to the Renewed Hope City and other Estates within the Karsana District, Abuja.

In his address during the flag-off ceremony on Friday, September 26, 2025, the Minister described the initiative as a major breakthrough in the FCT Administration's commitment to fulfilling President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's directive to provide essential infrastructure for housing developments.

He noted that the commencement of the project was a promise kept under the Renewed Hope Agenda, stressing that a robust road infrastructure was key to attracting investors, providing a foundation for other facilities, such as hospitals and schools.

The Minister said: "What we cannot run away from is that no city can be said to be a city without a good network of roads. That is basic. What qualifies a city first is the network of roads, then you talk about other facilities. All these houses you are seeing, without a good network of roads, it makes no sense. If you want to build a hospital here without a road, it makes no sense. If you want to build schools here, without a road, it makes no sense. So, the first thing you must provide to attract even investors is the road network, and that is what we are doing”.

The FCT Minister commended the contractor, Messrs Lubrik Construction Company Nig Ltd, for mobilizing to the site even before receiving payment, describing it as a show of confidence in the FCT Administration. He expressed hope that the company will keep its promise to deliver a quality project in good time for inauguration during President Tinubu's third anniversary, assuring residents that funds will be made available to ensure timely completion.

“Let me assure the residents of Karsana District that we have discussed with the contractors. We will do everything within our own power to see that funds are made available so that during the third-year anniversary of Mr. President, we will inaugurate this road network. I hope the contractors will keep to their promises”, the Minister stated.

Acting Head of FCTA Civil Service, Nancy Sabanti Nathan, in her vote of thanks, expressed profound gratitude to President Tinubu for prioritizing the development of the FCT in line with the Renewed Hope agenda and thanked the FCT Minister for his unmatchable leadership style in the FCT.

She added that the road project will ease traffic congestion and provide a vital link between Karsana District and other parts of the city, thereby boosting commercial activities and residential development, contributing to the growth of Abuja as a model city.

Giving an overview of the project, the Acting Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Engr. Richard Yunana Dauda, explained that the road network to the Renewed Hope estate and other estates within Karsana West begins at the outer Northern Expressway (Murtala Mohammed expressway) through the arterial road N40 within the Karsana North District and eventually connects with the arterial road N11 (Ahmadu Bello Way).

He said the contract for the project was awarded by the Federal Executive Council in March 2025 and is expected to be completed within 18 months.

Engr. Dauda further disclosed that the scope of work includes the construction of 10.5 kilometers span of road networks, as well as the provision of modern drainage systems, solar street lighting, and other engineering facilities.

He highlighted the extensive benefits of the project, including the creation of job opportunities, reduced travel time, and improved security in the area, adding that the new roads will not only provide access to the Renewed Hope estates but also open up Karsana district for further development, contributing to the city's overall growth.

Technical Manager, Lubrik Construction Company, Engr. Anthony El-Khoury expressed gratitude for the opportunity and pledged to work closely with all stakeholders to deliver the project within budget and on schedule.

...AS HE FLAGS OFF CONSTRUCTION OF ANOTHER CRITICAL ARTERIAL ROAD IN FCC

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike has reiterated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is creating employment opportunities for Nigerians through the provision of infrastructure.

Barr. Wike disclosed this in Abuja on Thursday, September 25, 2025, while flagging off the construction of Arterial Road N20 (Solomon Lar Way) from the Arterial Road N5 (Obafemi Awolowo Way) to the Airport Expressway.

The Minister stated that the President's support for the series infrastructure projects undertaken by the FCT Administration, including the recent flag-off and commissioning of 16 vital road projects, has directly led to job creation for many Nigerians,.

He said, “With the number of jobs we are doing in the FCT, you can see the number of people that will be engaged one way or the other. If we are using 16 days to flag off projects of different categories, then see the number of persons that will be engaged in these projects. 16 days means 16 companies being involved in these projects.

“So, Mr. President, through the provision of infrastructure, is also creating employment for our people”.

“We want to sincerely thank Mr. President. I also want to thank the Area Council Chairmen for their support of Mr. President and this administration. I urge you to continue because we are all partners in progress”, Barr. Wike added.

He assured residents that the FCT will rival the world's most developed cities by the end of president Tinubu's first term, adding that the administration's focus is not limited to road networks but also includes massive reconstruction efforts in the education and health sectors.

He said, “I want to assure residents of Abuja, by the grace of God, before the first tenure of Mr. President ends, Abuja will compete with most of the cities of the world. That is a bank draft I have given to you to go home with.

“We will continue to develop other areas, not only the city but also the satellite towns. We have very massively started again to reconstruct most of the schools. Now, we are also entering the health sector. I have said that no sector will be left untouched. We will make sure every sector is given the attention that it requires”, the Minister assured.

Speaking on the vital arterial road N20, the Minister said the contract was awarded in March this year by the Federal Executive Council to Messrs. Gilmor Nigeria Limited, adding that the road, when completed, will boost the value of properties in the area and encourage investments in real estate, ultimately improving the quality of life of FCT residents.

He pledged that the project would be adequately funded to ensure its timely completion and further urged the contractor to engage the youths during the construction phase to provide them with a means of livelihood, while calling for the support and cooperation of the residents.

In her vote of thanks, the Acting Head of the FCTA Civil Service, Nancy Sabanti Nathan, said the road project, when completed, will stimulate economic activities by improving access to commercial areas and the Airport expressway and will further attract investments, boost local businesses, and enhance safety and convenience for commuters.

Giving an overview of the segment of Arterial Road N20 being developed, the Acting Executive Secretary, FCDA, Engr. Richard Yunana Dauda, said it will link the northern part of the city to the southern part through the Airport Express Way, and when completed, will significantly reduce traffic congestion in the phase two districts of Wuye, Jabi, Utako, Dakibiyu, and Kukwaba as well as the sector centres.

Engr. Dauda added that the scope of work for the project includes the construction of a dual carriageway of a total of eight lanes, modem drainage systems, street lighting and telecommunication ducts.

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike has flagged off the full-scope development of the Arterial Road N1 (Olusegun Obasanjo Way), which stretches from the Wuye District to Ring Road II within Abuja.

The project, awarded to Messrs. Arab Contractors Nigeria Limited, has a completion timeline of one year and eight months.

In his address at the flag-off ceremony, Barr. Wike stated that the project demonstrates the FCT Administration's commitment to improving road networks and resolving traffic issues, thereby supporting the city's long-term urban growth in line with the Abuja Master Plan.

He noted that the new road would boost socio-economic activity and improve residents' living conditions and expressed confidence that the contractor, Messrs. Arab Contractors Nigeria Limited, having shown their capacity in the ongoing Federal Highway 105 project from Airport expressway to Kuje, would also complete the work on time.

Reacting to reports that he was sick, Barrister Wike, who recently returned from an overseas trip, dismissed such rumours as false, stressing that they were politically motivated. He explained that he took a deserved break from his busy schedule, emphasizing the need to be healthy to work.

According to him, “It’s unfortunate to hear that they said I was sick, they said you have a heart attack. God will continue to help them to have a heart attack”.

He also decried what he called the undue criticism of President Tinubu on social media, condemning a recent instance where a popular activist referred to the President as a criminal. Wike argued that such unguarded utterances were uncalled for, noting that Nigerians are fortunate to have a President who believes in the rule of law. He drew a parallel with the United States, stating that no matter how much Americans criticize their leaders, they would never publicly label a president a criminal.

He said, “This is a country where somebody will go on social media to say Mr. President is a criminal and nothing will happen. Anybody can wake up in the morning and say all kinds of things, and nothing will happen”.

Regarding a planned demonstration by FCT resident doctors over claims that the FCTA was prioritizing road construction over healthcare, the Minister assured them that their concerns, including allowances and the employment of health officers, were being addressed.

Barr. Wike, who also frowned at reports of purported plans by the workers to disrupt the project flag-off ceremony, cautioned against using the civil service for political purposes. He acknowledged the democratic rights of workers to protest, but warned that it will not stop decisions in the best interest of the administration.

He said, “If you want to enter political party A, you are free to enter and face me when the time comes, but don't use the civil service to play politics”.

He added, “The people in health said we have not paid their allowances. We lost our Head of Service. We’ve just appointed an Acting Head of Service. I said okay, go and check how much they are talking about.

“They said, we’ve not employed doctors. I said, Chairman, Civil Service Commission, go and employ them. I will not be a doctor. Go and employ them. They are now talking about improving the health facilities. The 2025 capital budget for health alone is about N25 billion. Ask them, when did we get our budget? We got our budget in July from the National Assembly”.

Speaking on efforts to improve street lighting in the FCT, Barr. Wike disclosed that the FCT Administration has devised new strategies, including four-year maintenance contracts with companies as well as the introduction of new technologies to prevent vandalism. He warned officials against any acts of corruption that could derail President Tinubu’s "Renewed Hope" agenda in the FCT.

Presenting an overview of the project, the Executive Secretary, FCDA, Engr. Richard Yunana Dauda, explained that the Arterial Road N1 begins from a place called the junction of Arterial Road S1 (Moshood Abiola Way in Garki District), traversing through the Central Business District, through Wuse District in phase one, and continues into phase two, through Wuye and Dakibiyu districts, and eventually terminates at Mbora district in phase three.

He said the segment of Arterial N1 under consideration is a continuation of the road from Wuye District to ring road II, which, when completed, will provide the needed connection of the sectors Centre B, comprising the districts of Wuye, Jabi, Utako and Dakibiyu, in phase 2, to other parts of the city.

Engr. Dauda added that the scope of work includes a dual-carriage road with three lanes in each direction, a five-span bridge, drainage systems, water pipelines, power supply, and street lighting. He said the project is also expected to create numerous direct and indirect jobs for the youth.

…PLEDGES TO REHABILITATE MORE ROADS IN THE AREA

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, has flagged off the emergency reconstruction of the Karu road from the Karu interchange to Customs Clinic Junction (Karu site) within the Abuja Municipal Area Council of the FCT.

Speaking during the flag-off ceremony on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, Barr. Wike explained that while the flagship project is the reconstruction of the Karu road, the scope of work has been expanded to include the rehabilitation of additional critical roads in Karu satellite town.

The Minister acknowledged the persistent advocacy of stakeholders for the road projects, specifically commending the AMAC Chairman, Christopher Maiakalangu, for his relentless efforts in championing the needs of the Karu people. He stressed that the chairman's relationship with the government has made the Karu road projects possible.

Barr. Wike also acknowledged the support of former Senator representing the FCT, Philip Tanimu Aduda, whose intervention, he said, led to the inclusion of the additional feeder roads in the project and urged FCT residents to continue to support those who have their interests at heart.

The Minister said, “That is why I would always want you to support those that can go to the government and say, look, my area is bad and the government will listen to them. Do you know there are some people you would elect, they cannot talk to the government? There are people you elect, they have the audience of the government.

And that's why the chairman of AMAC, Maikalangu, has always been on my neck. He has always told me, sir, even though you have done Nyanya to Karshi, it will be unfair as the Chairman of AMAC, this Karu road has been of very serious concern to us. Do me that favor and see whether you can, under emergency, reconstruct and dualise this Karu road.

“Because he's been a young man who has been very supportive of the Renewed Hope Agenda, I felt that it would be better to encourage him, to listen to him. And so we are here today. If I were you, I would continue to support him because it means that he has the people of Karu at heart. It means that he has the problem of AMAC at heart.

Also, one of your sons who is no longer in government…Senator Tanimu Aduda, has been somebody that believes in the people of Abuja. I saw him last night. He came to me, and he said, Sir, this is an opportunity now. Now you are doing this Karu dualization, there are some other small roads; if you join them, it will open the whole of Karu.

"And so because I know he means well for his people, I know that he talks well about his people, I conceded to him. And so, the people of Karu, this is your turn and we'll make sure you get the benefits you are entitled to.

“And so we have added these other roads to this road we are doing now. One, we are going to rebuild Customs Clinic Juncture to CBN Quarters junction. We are going to rebuild immediately Customs Clinic Junction to EFFC. We are also going to rebuild the NIA Quarters Road, we are going to rebuild Primus hospital road", the Minister stated.

Barrister Wike expressed confidence in the contractor, Messers Abdul Val Nigeria Limited, adding that their successful completion of a similar 16-kilometer dual carriage project in Ushafa, in Bwari Area Council within a 10-month timeline was commendable.

He urged the contractor to ensure that all the newly added roads are completed within 10 months as well, promising the community that the project would not only involve road reconstruction but also the installation of streetlights to improve the business environment.

The Minister who reiterated that the provision of basic infrastructure in FCT satellite towns was a critical component of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Adenda, said the ongoing expansion of water supply projects and provision of rural roads in the satellite towns fulfils the promises made by the President to bring infrastructure development closer to the rural people.

He further called on residents to continue to hold elected officials accountable for their campaign promises.

In her vote of thanks, the FCT Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, conveyed her deep appreciation to President Tinubu, noting that his Renewed Hope Agenda continues to produce impactful, life-changing projects for the benefit of all Nigerians. She praised the FCT Minister for his dedication and leadership.

Providing an overview of the Karu road project, the Coordinator, Satellite Towns Development Department, Honourable Abdulkadir Zulkiflu, said the scope of work includes the construction of a 5.4-kilometer length of roads and provision of other necessary engineering infrastructure, including the installation of solar-powered street lights, adding that the project would be delivered within 10 months.

He stated that the current FCT Administration has taken cognizance of the need to provide unhindered access to the newly-rehabilitated Nyanya-Karshi Road, noting that the project will enhance free traffic flow along the Nyanya-Karshi axis of the FCT.

In his note of commitment, the Managing Director of Abdul Val Nigeria Ltd., the project's contractor, Mr. Suleman Abdul, expressed his gratitude to the Minister for awarding the project to his company. He assured that the project would be delivered according to the highest standards and within the stipulated time frame.
