WIKE HOLDS INTERACTIVE ENGAGEMENT WITH RESIDENTS OF KUJE, ABAJI AND KWALI AREA COUNCILS … As FCT youths express resolve to not participate in protests In continuation of the efforts to ensure peace in the Federal Capital Territory in view of the planned anti-government protests in the country, the FCT Minister, Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike on Sunday, July 28, 2024, held an interactive engagement with stakeholders in the FCT South constituency, comprising residents of Kuje, Kwali and Abaji Area Councils of the FCT. The FCT Minister, in his address during the interactive meeting, highlighted the importance of dialogue between the government and the people, saying that the town hall engagement has provided ample opportunity for FCT residents to air their grievances about the economic situation in the country as well as seek redress from the government. The Minister thanked the traditional rulers and the youths of the FCT for making out time to be part of the town hall meeting and for agreeing to dialogue with the government, rather than joining the planned nationwide protests.

….Cautions FCT youths against aligning with faceless protesters As part of the peace building process in the Federal the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), in light of the planned anti-government protests, the FCT Minister, Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, on Saturday, July 27, 2024 held an interactive town hall meeting with residents of the FCT. Addressing the residents during the Town Hall, the FCT Minister said it was organized to provide an avenue for dialogue with various stakeholders in the FCT and to give them the opportunity to air their grievances, rather than taking to the streets to protest against the government. The Minister said protests would not solve any problem in the FCT but would rather create an opportunity for hooligans to take advantage of the situation to create a crisis. He warned that the FCT Administration will not allow any protest that is geared towards destruction or to overthrow the government and cautioned residents against aligning with those he described as faceless protesters. . The Minister acknowledged that FCT residents have a constitutional right to protest, but cautioned that such protests must be done within the ambit of the law.

...Stresses commitment to developing FCT Area Councils As part of the routine inspection of ongoing critical infrastructure projects in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the FCT Minister, Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, on Friday, July 26, 2024 inspected the construction of the 7.3 kilometer Gaba/Tokuo road in Bwari Area Council. Speaking during the inspection visit, the FCT Minister expressed satisfaction with the speed and quality of work on the road project and assured that it will be adequately funded to ensure its timely completion by December this year. The Minister who revealed that the project was 40 percent complete, said about 70 percent of the contractual sum has been paid to the contractor. He also expressed confidence in the capacity of the contractor to deliver the project within the agreed schedule. Barr. Wike further disclosed that the Gaba/Tokulo road, when completed, will not only enhance transportation in the rural parts of the FCT but will also improve food security in the nation's capital. He said the road wil provide access to the farmlands in the rural areas as well as access to the market for agricultural produce.

FCT NOT AVAILABLE FOR PROTESTS – WIKE …SAYS AUGUST 1ST IS FOR CELEBRATION OF TRADITIONAL INSTITUTIONS Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike has warned that any form of anti-government protest will not be allowed in the FCT. The FCT Minister gave the warning in Abuja on Thursday, July 24, 2024, shortly after the FCT Security Council Meeting, which was attended by the Heads of the various Security Agencies and the six Area Council Chairmen of the FCT. The Minister who acknowledged that Nigerians in the FCT have the right to protest as enshrined by the law, however, said that the August 1st, 2024 date of the planned anti-government protest, coincides with the proposed date for the presentation of certificates of recognition to trad initional rulers in all the Area Councils of the FCT.

The FCT Minister, Barrister Nyesom Wike was over the weekend honored at the Nigerian Excellence Awards in Public Service (NEAPS) with the award of excellence in infrastructural delivery at the Federal level as the Hon. Minister of the FCT. The event took place at the Presidential Villa banquet hall and was attended by the Vice President, Senator Kahim Shettima. The criteria for recognition include significantly improving public service delivery and courageously undertaking risks to drive positive change amongst others. Other recipients include the Senate President, the Speaker of the House of Repre ntatives several state governors, captains of industry and heads of government agencies. This is the second NEAPS award for the Minister. in 2022, he was the recipient for excellence in infrastructure delivery as Governor of Rivers State.

Barrister Wike made the presentation in Abuja on Friday, July 5, 2024 during a ceremony, attended by the heads of the various security agencies in the nation’s capital.

FCT MINISTER COMMISERATES WITH SENATOR BUKOLA SARAKI OVER THE DEATH OF HIS MOTHER The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike has commiserated with the former President of the Senate, Senator Bukola Saraki, over the death of his mother, Chief Mrs. Florence Morenike Saraki. Barr. Wike who spoke when he paid a condolence visit to the residence of the former Senate President in Abuja on Friday, 5th July 2024, urged him to take solace in the fact that his mother has played her role in life and has gone to be with God. He also prayed that God Almighty would fortify Senator Saraki, whom he described as a good and dependable friend, and grant him and other members of his family the courage to carry on with their lives.
