oh okay. How much for the premium service. Thank you. solihp: The timeline varies. I had one person being approved Thursday, issued Friday, and the passport was ready for pickup on Monday on oisservice website.
But the other was approved on a Tuesday, issued on Wednesday, we kept checking on oisservice website and the passport was not ready for pickup until the next Tuesday. Because she needed the passport urgently, she went to OIS Abuja location to use the premium service since it says her passport was in Abuja without appointment, and they told her the passport had been ready for almost a week even though they didn’t update the website. She was able to pick it up without appointment. Note: on her profile, she wanted to use the free DHL service in Abuja but they didn’t send it there in time. |

Thank you for your response. Do you remember how long it took after it was issued for it to be ready for pickup? solihp: Thank you. I tracked his application status using his DS160 number and passport information on the ceac status website, when it was issued, I constantly checked the oisservice website to see if his passport was ready, when it was ready, I set up an appointment for pickup, they didn’t send him any email notification. |

Hello Bro, Congratulations. After the visa approval, did you or your dad had to setup visa pickup? Did your dad get any email notification saying his visa is ready for pickup? Thank you. solihp: My dad’s visa was approved in Abuja. In the forms, I indicated that I was sponsoring him and I put my address as where he would be staying, also my dad is widowed. Here’s the questions he was asked.
VO: Where are you going to? Dad: I am going to (*insert a US state*) to visit my last daughter
VO: Do you have other children? Dad: I have two others, one works in Abuja and she brought me here and the other works in (*inserts another Nigerian state*)
VO: have you travelled out before Dad: Yes, I’ve been to Germany and the UK (note: I wrote no in his form because these travels were not in the last 5years) but the VO didn’t ask if it was in the last 5years
VO: when did you travel to those places Dad: in the late 1980s and early 1990s
VO: I will be approving your visa.
His visa was approved on a Thursday, it changed to issued on Friday and when I checked on Monday on the OIS platform, his passport was ready for pickup. |

Hello, Congratulations. Please do you happen to know why she was denied the first time? is it something she said or didn't say. Did they ask her for anything?Thank you for your time. Deziri20: My mum’s visa was approved yesterday in Lagos, and it still feels surreal. This was her second attempt we applied for B2 visa category for her and unlike the first time, everything happened so quickly. We got to the embassy, and in less than 20 minutes, she was done.
Here’s how the conversation went:
VO: Good morning. Mum: Good morning! How are you doing? VO:Why are you traveling to the U.S.? Mum: To visit my daughter, she just had a baby. VO: How long do you plan to stay? Mum: Two months. VO: How did your daughter move to the U.S.? Mum: She got married and relocated. VO: Are you married? If so, why isn’t your husband traveling with you? Mum: Yes, I’m legally married. My husband and I agreed that I should be the one to go, while he stays back with one of our children in Nigeria until I return. VO: Are you planning to get any medical treatment while in the U.S.? Mum: No, not at all. VO:How many children do you have? Mum: Six, but sadly, one recently passed on. VO: How many of them are in the U.S.? Mum: Just one. The rest are here in Nigeria. VO: What do you do for a living? Mum: I’m a retired teacher. VO: Who is funding your trip? Mum: My daughter the one I’m visiting. VO: What does she do? *Mum: She’s a nurse. VO: How long has she been in the U.S.? Mum: 8yrs. VO: Is this her first child? If not, why didn’t you travel to see her when she had the first one? Mum: No, this is her second child. She had her first in 2022, but my visa was denied back then.
At this point, the officer started typing, then suddenly excused herself for a moment. When she returned, she asked again:
VO: Are you sure you’re not going to the U.S. for medical treatment? Mum: I’m very sure.
Then, the officer smiled and said, “I’ll be approving your visa. I hope you have a wonderful time with your daughter.”
My mum smiled back and said, “Thank you so much.”
Thanks to Nairaland I gained a lot of information on this thread that was helpful |

Maymay6: Hello House,
I wanna say a big thank you to everyone here especially the OGs for all your advice to the prospective. In fact, I got the UStraveldocs number on here when I realized that my DS160 number wasn't showing on my appointment form. I am gonna make my story very detailed for even better understanding;
PREPARATION I went prepared, prayed and left the rest for God. I practiced all the questions I saw everywhere. lol 1. https://citizenpath.com/k-1-fiance-visa-interview-questions/ 2. https://rapidvisa.com/fiance-visa-interview/ 3. https://www.immi-usa.com/k1-visa-interview-questions/ 4. questions from transcripts shared on here
I probably rehearsed every single question more than a zillion times with my fiance and sister. You probably don't need to do this much but I did.
DOCUMENTS I got one of those folders with spaces inside at Prince Ebeano for about 1,700k and labeled each space for easier find just incase I got nervous and forgot where i kept each. 1. Birth certificate: I ended up going with the two (old small one and the long version) coz there was debate here about it. PS. they took only the old one. You probably would need the long one during AOS. 2. NIM No: Nobody asked for this. LOL 3. International Passport and copies 4. Appointment letter: MUST HAVE BOTH YOUR DS 160 CODE AND UID CODE. If you don't have it call them and they would fix it - +23412278955 5. Letter of intent (updated in January) Although they didn't ask for this but i had mine and my babe's. We basically just changed the date. 6. W2 7. TAX transcripts 8. Pay stubs for the last 6 months 9. Babe's letter of employment 10. Affidavit of support
I did all these and they asked for the pictures, birth certificate, affidavit of support. But its good to have them handy just in case. Finally, i had a scrab book. It had a cover page of my Fiance and I and i 1. Cover page - Image of my fiance and i 2. Table of Content 3. About us 3. How we met 4. Chats: Whatsapp, Text, and emails (I took screenshots) Please make sure the contact details page screenshot comes first so they know who is ' my heartbeat' or whatever dearing you name you saved your fiance's name as. 5. Video chats screenshots 6. Pictures - please label them with where, what was happening and date if you can remember 7. I was planning a surprise party for when he comes in next month, i took screenshots of my conversation with the party committee - the interviewer seemed even interested in this. 8. Add anything you can think of - just in case.
INTERVIEW I lodged at Beni Gold. Paid 18K for the night. Horrible reception by the way. The bed was super hard and there were mosquitoes but anyways, i didnt care as long as i was able to achieve what i came for. Its literally 5 mins away from the consulate. So please make sure to stay close to the interview location. There is another lodge my friend stayed at - Mariah's Lodge. Its more affordable - 10K.
I got to hotel after work at 8:30pm. Checked in. Prayed and rehearsed with my sister and finace again for hours. Finally slept and woke up at 5am. I got there at 6:30am. There was already a queue.
When you get to the location, an officer will scan you or check you and direct you to where to queue which is like 1-2 mins walk. At the queue, it was divided to NIV and IV. At that point, before you join the queue, youd be search and scanned again. An officer then comes in to tell you what items are allowed and what items are not.
Another officer then allows people to pass through a small gate in 5s. Inside, theres another queue where your folders and bags are searched. Please make sure to unseal envelop. If not, youd be asked to go back and unseal it. Youd loose your position on the queue on go back to square 2. After being search, we IVs were directed to seat. A form was given to us (this would request your name, your address, your petitioners name, phone number). I think this is to for your collect your passprot. In 5s again, youd be directed into the main hall. Youd be scanned again. Finally, youd enter the hall. The IVs have a sessions where there are about 20 chairs to seat.
Youd be required to bring your birth certificate, passport - 2 pieces, appointment letter, affifidavit of support and DS160 form. The photos your fiance submitted would be returned to you. Then the waiting starts. I was number 15.
INTERVIEW I was interviewed by a handsome white huge man. Scary looking to say the least. I was asked to raise my right hand to take the oath. Biometrics were taken as signature to the oaths. 1. Who is petitioning for you 2. How did you meet him 3. When did you start dating? 5 years, he then asked how that has worked out? 4. How did he propose to you? After saying my story, he finally smiled. 5. He requested for the pictures; I gave him my scrab book. He skimmed through everything and he asked Is this surprise party in motion? 6. He then asked who Joy was? At that point, I was like who then hell is Joy in my mind, after a few secs, i remembered, Joy is my fiance's mother's name. So in response, I mentioned her full name so he'd know I actually knew her. LOL. LESSON: Make sure you know everybody in his family. 7. How did your finance become a citizen? when I answered, he said No, his mother filed for him. I responded that No, it was through ___ and the mother's application has been in the process for two years now. When i noticed his face change, I kept quiet and said no more. It was at this he stood up to meet his colleagues.
Not smiling, he stood up and asked me to give him a few minutes. He wait to meet a colleague and felt he was discussing my case. At that moment i was now nervous and panicking. After what seemed like forever, he came back, tyoed for a bit and stood up again and asked that i gave him some minutes. Left for a few minutes and came back. I started praying that God should intervene. And God did.
Next thing he said was, I will approve your visa and it would be ready in two weeks. I was given a pick up paper and a domestic something something paper.
I was so happy and glad it went well.
ADDITIONAL INFO if you have a supporting sponsor for affividat of support, make sure you know who they are and have then write a letter, stating their relationship with you ro your fiance and why they are sponsoring you. VERY IMPORTANT. Many were turned back because of this.
I have made my transcript very detailed because I noticed people just come and say the questions they asked and move on. Before my interview, I was frustrated because i felt, i didn't have enough info and my questions were ignored here.
Anyways, Goodluck to everyone. I hope this was very helpful. On to the next phase. Please how do we go about it? Congratulations sis..that guy looked scarily I actually prayed not to get him..lol |

My K1 visa was approved this morning and I want to say a big thank you to God and also to everyone on here. I was out of the embassy by 9 a.m. tho my appointment was for 6:30a.m The consular officer was a white American lady asked she asked me to take the oath which I did, finger print and interview started.
So who filed for you? When did you start talking? How did you meet? You met on tinder? Follow up question (It’s location based)so how did you find her? That’s not how dating sites works? When did you meet in person? Is that her only visit? Where and when did you propose? Have you been married? Has she been married? Do you have kids? Does she have kids? How old? How does the child feel about having a step dad? Let me see the chats of you and the child? Let me see your chats with your fiancée Let me see pictures of you and your fiancée? Who are these in the pictures with you?
It looks like a drilling right? But No I didn’t feel like I was been drilled. In fact it felt more like a conversation..I honestly don’t think I spent up to 5mints with her. she was nice and she kept on typing as she was talking to me. It’s normal to feel nervous no matter how genuine your relationship is but honestly you have nothing to fear or to be scared off..a pointer is the availability of seats to immigrants of which such luxury is not accorded to NIV peeps.it simply means you are special..lol. So feel special but not entitled and like they say smile and be honest pls don’t lie or try and play smart with them,if they ask you a pointed question, trust they know what they are asking and have the answer.they are trying to see if you are honest... .look into there eyes when answering questions or better still just look at them cause they are busy typing anyway.wish everyone going for there interview best of luck.
P.S the questions might not be in order and at some point she asked me to flip through our pictures and she was asking questions (not necessarily related to the pictures) Candid advice: All intending applicants should pls endeavor to studiously go over all interview transcripts on here and also on visa journey. |

brownesugar: @efozee the medicals is strictly by appointment,u have to book for a date on their website..www.qlifefamilyclinic.com but note:booking for a date only does not secure the date except you proceed to make payment after afterwards, you can make payment via remitta, paystack or to their gtb account u ll see the payment portal there,if u dont secure the date with payment it becomes invalid after 48hours(best u secure the date with payment)payment is 61,500 naira on the portal is 51000 but they said their engineer is yet to update the price blah blah.. once that is done you can now appear on the date u choose with appt letter, intl passport ,proof or payment, the nvc letter or(know your case number off hand)if its transfer to the bank or remitta and co you shld screenshot the proof of payment and take other document needed there.. Also note u ll still pay additional N23,125 there via pos for vaccinations&co making a total of N84,625.. you can hold additional money just incase but that was what i paid in total.. according to new directives from the consulate effective november 2019,all result are to be sent to the embassy and not given to the beneficiary again but after all test is being done they ll give u a date to pick up your immunization/result and co(ur copy i guess tho yet to collect mine),prior before then or that same date given to you(after med) your result lld have been sent to the embassy already, but the imm/vac result and vaccination card,ur copy (given after) with attachment below is what you ll travel with... guess the consulate wants the result gets to them even before u or before one appear for interview... Lastly the police report /certificate cost 7k but i bargained to 6k&got it same day,for passport photograph no specification on it tho but its best if its a white background same as US spec cos US things prefer white background... Hope this helps.. cheers.. Pls was your fingerprint taken when you went for the police report ? |
