this does not necessarily hold water in Nigeria. This country, even when you are not down, your certificate can only do so much.

What is the point of a certificate if the holder can't even defend it? That is the state of Nigeria, majority certificate holders can't defend their certificates, they enter with nothing and come out even worse.

I'm here saying a girl in 300 level thinks Britain is in America, of what use will her certificate be if she is so ignorant? Most times, current affairs is what employers set as interview questions.

Most Nigerian youths do not know what is happening in this country. Last year, 400 level Sociology students wrote an exam where the lecturer set current affairs questions for them, he asked about the tussle that the Executive and Legislative Arms of Government were having as at then (the Maina issue) and about 97% of them did no know it. Even worse, they were justifying their lack of knowledge with the excuse that being in school doesn't afford one the luxury of watching the news on TV or listening on radio! Imagine, final year students with smart phones. Is it those ones that will now hold faith with their certificates?

Opportunities cannot open for you if you do not prove yourself worthy of them, many people get offered jobs simply by conversing with a person in the position to give jobs. Not because they have the certificate, the certificate will just give you more leverage over someone without, but in today's Nigeria, having a certificate isn't enough
I get your point, majority of our young people are not in tune with the state of things happening around them outside their academics. I remember how my roommates booed me repeatedly for always buying
and reading newspapers back when I was in the university before dropping out in my second semester.

Most young players in big clubs are not living in apartments particularly outside London.

Seyi has a mansion too and he has played first team for Liverpool. Been on loan at several Championship clubs and is creating value for himself.as a professional player.

Adarabioyo has essentially only played youth football. It could all go wrong and he could find himself in non league in a few years time.
Sure there is a possibility of things going wrong, I get the angle you are coming from.

I don't see much wrong with buying a mansion. Who is to say he doesn't sell it for profit down the line.
He can spend his money how he wants honestly.
Don't mind them, its clearly a Nigerian mentality to acquire property as investment which looks weird to Europeans who wouldn't consider such at that age.
FashionRe: I Wore A Military Camouflage Today And This Happened by CaptainStephen(m): 3:49pm On Jan 10, 2018
Military fatigues are outlawed in NIGERIA ! Just this weekend my team encountered some criminals on camouflages. The nature of security and criminal misuse has made it expedient to restrict its use among civilians.

Ok...This is my first time of posting here in nairaland and am only doing this because I feel like am running out of options here. Ok so,my name is ...lets skip the name for now.am 24 yrs of age,a graduate and working class. I have a great sense of humour, fun loving and adventurous. I have been in only one relationship so far (not that am proud of).Am based in Lagos.I am christian and I know am very good looking and attractive with a good physique...to the glory of God sha.
Down to the main issue, i find it hard to like a guy to enter a relationship because of the parameters I have set for myself which I believe am being very realistic and logical with. Once any factor is missing,i loose interest and moresoever, God has given me the ability to easily spot fakes and thats just it.All I need from a guy are my basics which am not just seeing from anyone at the moment. This are the basic things i need in a guy:
I need a guy that first and foremost; a lover of God...not religious or churchy but a lover of God (no Muslims )
Outlook: Caring and presentable
Tribe: I would prefer a yoruba guy because of the kind of family I come from.I just want to avoild unnecessary stress.Any other nationality is welcomed.
Basics ..basics like at least a presentable car, good house, and a stable means of generating good income. I dont really even fancy extremely rich guys and I mean it with all sincerity.
Good prospects...someone that has a vision I can align with.I have a passion for children BTW.
Height: 5.10fts and above.fleshy guys as well.I don't fancy slim/thin guys because am already slim myself..lol
I would prefer a lover of music
Age range:28 - 35 yrs

Pls am I being too unrealistic or materialistic in my search? I am not getting what I want in a man and I shouldnt settle for less right?Where exactly am i going wrong?. kindly advice me or contact me if you feel you have what I want in a man amd vice versal.Constructive criticisms or comments are welcomed.

well I am 28, but not youruba and fit all your descriptions. Hit me up if you have no objections moving from place to place and me been away for sometime due to work.

I throway salute, you too much I know definitely you are in the system.
But why are they favoring this Regular guys too much its not good na, how can someone I senior salute me and later I'll be the one saluting (saying yes sir) to the person? e get as e be na!! and the worst thing is most of those guys are small boys oo(Regulars) imagine a 30years LT saluting a 24years LT the thing just tire me I swear, I was in 1Div one day and I saw a thing that disgusted me, one small boy Capt I swear that guy never reach 30yrs if you see how arrogant he was to one sergeant that is in his 50s you go cry, the Serg was just saying yes sir..
I nearly called him out due to annoyance but I calmed down and I swore in my heart that I must join the officer Cadre and by Gods grace upon commissioning I must make a difference even though na lance Corporal be my subordinate I must give the person maximum respect as far as his my senior age wise na I'm gonna break the rules nobody should call me sir(Elderly NCOs) na me go they call them sirs self.
My friend age is not a criteria but rank in the case of the military, regarding what you experienced I will say truely some officers are overbearing in nature and you can't stop anyone from addressing you as SIR !
I am a good example, my dad is an NCO which makes me above in terms of rank, Funny enough same corps, not same unit, we united during a field exercise and he(NCO) didn't carry out an order quickly as he should have done and I had to scold him for that. It was the normal thing to have been done but I kid you not brother I couldn't sleep that whole night ! I also tried everything possible to avoid us running into each other, so he won't have to salute me.
My point is a lot of things applying outside do not apply to the Army so if you are coming in due to employment or financial reasons, I won't advice you choose the Army.

actually i was not advocating them for speed boats , becz of their small displacement (tonnage) the MBRL wont be stable .for large speed boats it might work but first they will have to certified and tested.

also IMO normal mortars wont work for the same reason unless some stabilization system is included to compensate for the rollling and pitching of the boats.
sure I understand you, our Littoral interceptors some which are 40m can accommodate this system. what I meant was the major threat are hostiles using speedboats.

CaptainStephen, I salute you. I also have a cousin that just became a major and he is airborne too, currently serving in the NE. Coming from a military family where many of us have served in the army, police, sss... I salute you for your service to our dear country..

I've been itching to ask why the Nigerian army has refused to use personal defence weapons like the claymore, especially around their FOBs. As you can see from the destruction arc, a single blast can cover almost a 180 degree angle. You can imagine how Boko Haram will feel when they've like 6-7 claymores with more than a thousand ball bearings tearing through them and these babies are remote controlled, so you can pack them them up once you want to shift your base.

My question is this, is there any reason why the Nigerian army has decided not to use this defence weapons or are they tied down by the western policies??
Thank you sir, well regarding your question about personal defence weapons, I will put it this way.
personal defence weapons are key elements of our doctrine however going into specifics like the type of systems we use will get me court Marshalled. I hope you understand that. The nature of counter terrorism ala BH, ISIS and co has been an ever evolving one.

Report the matter to the police who should invite the parents and the boy and girl for questioning. Letting the parents deal with this alone won't help much.

i guess Adminisher wants to take out everything including cockroaches and ants at a single go grin grin grin

these systems r actually for massed fire effect where in a single volley u intend to take out the targets especially during beach clearing
yeah they are ideal for beach landings but the threat in the delta are speed boats filled with armed elements, max I will say five boats.
