ehay: Good day all,
Just found out I have two CHN with two different brokers. Both CHN's were opened with different surnames due to marriage. Please do I operating them separately or do I merge them into one? Also will merging them affect the stocks due to different surnames. For now, operate them separately. If you find a convenient point to migrate, sell the ones on your old name, and re-enter on the new one CHN. |

EquityM: I actually prefer 50%. I just hope Cardinal will be able to make it this year. The CSOF of Cardinal, which has a minimum capital of 100m, is already at 20+%. I can't quite understand what stocks made the CSOF skyrocket. You can check online, you will find the movers and shakers in their EMF portfolio. Most EMF pick 3 to 5 stocks on the premium board and a good number in the top 30 of the EQUITY board. Some even check it to decide what they can invest in directly. Another way is to check the ETFs they run. It can give you hints on their portfolio. |

EquityM: How is the equity trading? Does it deliver good returns? Last year the ASI delivered around 51%. A couple of EMF beat it, while some were below it. "Good returns" is generic. Some are fine with 15% returns; for some, it has to be above 50%. It depends on individuals. For me, it has to beat the prevailing inflation or bank lending rate and give me 5-8% on top of it. So, you have to define what your good return is. To your question, the returns on EMF have been impressive. |

Spot on. These days you can't even start any transaction until your KYC is complete. Arizona86: I have used them before, you need to ensure your KYC is approved before investing with them. Most of those complaints are people whose kyc is pending approval and they want to withdraw their funds. They also have a policy of 24 to 48 working hours before your fund drops in your wallet when you sell your investment but once the money is available in your wallet withdrawal takes some few minutes to transfer to your bank |

EquityM: I will get back to you with the answers tomorrow. CSCS and CHN are mainly for buying stocks. Once you register with CardinalStone, the CSCS and CHN are assigned to you automatically. I will get back to you with a link to see all the stocks in the equity fund. Registrar, you don't have to click the link. CSCS and CHN are also useful when you buy FGN Bonds. They are your capital market IDs. |

EquityM: Stock trading requires a lot of skills and patience. I will stick to equity for now. Getting a dividend from the registrar is a pain in the ass, including NIBSS. May be in the past. dividends are now paid directly to your bank account. All you need is to fill an e-mandate form ONCE and you are good. Some registrars have even made it easier. They have apps where you submit your details and they will hand it from there. |

EquityM: I just started three months ago; I'm still learning and getting new information on equity daily. How is your experience with the equity trading? Does it pay better than investing in individual stocks? From my experience, individual stock will give you greater gain/loss than equity within a period. The gain or loss now depends on what you invested in. Remember: equity is more like an average of the portfolio (stocks in it). I use it as my conservative base, while individual stocks are my aggressive side for capital appreciation and dividend play. |

Except you have access to highly classified info, a day's movement is not enough to say the investment is bad or good in equity. That is if you know what you were going into as at the time you invested. The equity market in Nigeria is safe. the market can only +10 or -10 in a day. Unlike advanced markets where anything is possible.
Same applies to EMF, EMF is even slower to respond because it is not just 1 stocks. |

Care4: Meanwhile, Top Equity Funds in Nigeria (2025) 1. Halo Equity Fund Frequently the top performer in the equity fund category in 2025. Reported some of the highest YtD returns (e.g., ~53.5% as of October). High-growth, high-volatility fund: best suited for investors with a strong risk appetite.
2. Afrinvest Equity Fund Also among the leading performers in 2025 with strong YtD gains (~53.5% as of October). Offers diversified exposure across large- and mid-cap Nigerian equities.
3. Guaranty Trust Equity Income Fund (GT Equity Income) Consistently among the better performers with solid returns (~56% in earlier H1 data). Focuses on dividend-paying and blue-chip stocks — good for investors seeking both income and growth.
4. Zrosk Magna Equity Fund Ranked highly in performance lists with double-digit YtD returns (~42%). A more aggressive equity fund aimed at experienced investors.
5. Paramount Equity Fund A long-established Nigerian equity fund with solid performance (~40%+ YtD). Known for diversification and capital appreciation over the long term.
6. Stanbic IBTC Aggressive Fund / Nigerian Equity Funds Well-established funds from a reputable manager showing noteworthy equity exposure and returns.
Sources: Nairametrics & Finance in Africa I have tried 3 of the above and looking at including a 4th one. All depends on Q1 2026 results. But for now, I'm taking positions for direct equity ahead of the dividend season. |

chimex38: Take a case of water. The most important life element on earth.
I learnt wike inaugurated water supply projects in parts of Abuja few months ago. I thought capital city already had connected water supply? With bloated house rentage and ownership costs So it's all individual boreholes running the capital city? with maintenance costs if at all they are ever maintained.
How much more unsafe water in other areas and states in Nigeria.
A business that depends on water, rather than just pay service fees and get outsourced pipe-connected to its business via FG or sub-national clean and well maintained water infrastructure agency will have to now own boreholes, buy more land spaces, build tanks, etc change filters amongst other maintenance costs from time to time. The point is, the long term effect of this potential developmental growth and exciting days ahead for the country will be extremely and extremely long even for long term holders. Public water supply is limited to the earlier developments around the city centre.New developments, are on their own.Developers charge new homers a fortune as development/infrastructure fees yet don't deliver any utility. |

Both of them acted badly, my conclusion. Seriously? In which of our laws or constitution is her position recognised? A first lady should learn to be a lady. Especially when she's a guest. |

Every adult should be profitably employed and take care of bills. Depending on your incomes, both should find a reasonable way to contribute to the family. For the man in marriage, yes, you have to help at home. Both of you have to come with your 100%; not 50-50. |

I have filled all relevant inter-member transfer forms and I'm told Harmony Securities is refusing to respond to the transfer request by Morgan Capital. Mind you I never really opened an account with Harmony Security. My account was opened with Vision Trust Investment ltd which I'm learning was suspended by SEC. How my account moved over to Harmony Security is unkown to me.
What can I do to reclaim my account? I have asked for KYC update from Harmony Security and nothing was done on that too.
Ps. I have escalated this issue to SEC over a week ago and even had to followup on whatsapp for my mail to be forwarded to appropraite department. That's a terrible thing by Harmony. Follow up directly with them and involve SEC and their association. Otherwise, liquidate your asset with them, and withdrawn your balance to zero. |
