Politics › Re: BREAKING: Omisore's Witnesses Fail To Prove Over-voting Allegation by Caseless: 4:50pm On Dec 01, 2014
ABDamola:
One of the witnesses called by Senator Iyiola Omisore of the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr. Moshood Adejare, to prove the allegation of malpractices in the August 9 governorship election failed to prove the allegation of over-voting he alleged in his witness statement on oath at the Election Petitions Tribunal.
Adejare, who was called by  counsel for the petitioner, Dr. Alex Izinyon (SAN), had earlier adopted the statement he deposed to at the registry of the tribunal as his evidence before the court.
Adejare, a ward supervisor for PDP in Ede South during the poll, had alleged over-voting among other irregularities before the tribunal.
However, the All Progressives Congress’ counsel, Mr. Kunle Adegoke, during cross-examination, confronted the witness with exhibit 207, which is result for the ward but he said he could not find evidence of over-voting there.
He added that his explanation might not have been full.
The counsel described him jokingly as a witness of truth and said he should  be given an award by his religious leader.
The counsel for the Independent National Electoral Commission, Mr. Ayotunde Ogunleye, also challenged the witness to prove the allegation of “superimposition,” which was contained in his deposition but he failed to establish this before the panel.
Asked what he superimposition meant, Adejare said, “It is when you complain of irregularities and your complaints are not attended to.”
Another witness, Taofeek Opaleye, from Boripe Local Government Area of the state also alleged that eligible voters suspected to be supporters of the PDP were prevented from voting by some APC leaders.
He admitted that he voted but he stated that PDP agents were forced to sign election results.
The third witness, Oluwaseun Fapohunda, stunned the tribunal, when during cross examination, he said that Governor Rauf Aregbesola voted at his polling unit in Oriade Local Government whereas Aregbesola is from Ilesa in Ilesa West Local Government Area.
Fapohunda also alleged overvoting and he was presented exhibit 203 ( election result for his areas) but he said it was not clear  after the counsel had given his ( counsel) glasses to the witness to assist him to read the result.
The tribunal’s proceedings are still going on.

OP, by opening this thread you have just confirmed what even the least discerning observers must have known by now, and this is the fact that those who hate to see Buhari emerge as the next present are ironically the most vocal in 'advising' and 'warning' the APC on who they should field as their presidential and vp candidates.

In this post, you deceptively portray yourself as a great admirer of Fashola's performance, on the basis of which you pretend to be arguing for his nomination as the APC vp candidate. But do you think people would never find out a thread you opened in 2012 with the sole purpose of rubbishing the achievements of the same Fashola? Even the way you titled that thread shows you were just out to taunt the same Fashola you pretend to admire here.

This what you wrote then:

Is that not hilarious? how can a someone be a sabotuer to himself?Take it or leave it,it is Jonathan that stand to lose more if the bokoharam insurgency keep escalating.People should think before they spew out words.the insurgency is doing no one any good.
u must understand something; war is not fought to kill alone, it is fought for gains- political gains. So many people have become billionaire through this war. Gej has given 25% of our budget to the fight against insurgency in the last 5 year without anything to show or accounting for what was bought and what was not bought for the military to fight insurgency. If you think gej is not benefiting from this war , then tell me why he ochestrated the october 1st bombing in which he defended MEND that had claimed responsibility earlier? That singular attack ushered in 1000s of bomblast since then.
If gej is not gaining politically and financially from this war, why does he keep boko haram members in his govt and those tagged sponsores have not been tried? Why was a mastermind of nyanya bombing acquitted last of the crime? Why did gej played the tune of chadian president last time by accepting a watery ceasefire agreement with the sect last time, which later gave the insurgent space to regroup and capture more towns last time? If gej is not a saboteur and a beneficiary of this war, why has he not eqiup our military to enable them fight the insurgency proper? Im sure you knw the last time our military bought any military 'hardware' or equipment was in 1979. Gej budgeted over 9 billion dollars to the military and, we stil dont know what they've done with that money, gej is not questioning anyone and u are saying he's not benefitting. We're watching...

FrankC3:
Was Pa Oritsejafor that you hate so much, EK Clark and other SS Elders the President of this country before they contributed constructively to the solution of the militancy challenge? What position was the SE elders holding before helping find solution to the kidnapping problem?

The ideological stance of APC and her followership on the cardinal issue of leadership and civic responsibility, especially as it has to do with supposedly elder statesmen in their midst is very worrisome. I have asked this question before but got no reasonable response even from core APC followers. What has been the contribution of Buhari to our democracy from 1999 to date? What are his contributions to anti-corruption drives, terrorism in the North, even kidnapping in the East or the area boys and ritual killing challenge in the West? He is known to have no business he runs, no NGO that he champions, no peace deal that he brokers, no international engagement (like OBJ), no leadership institute he manages, even our own Lagos Business School or UNILAG MBA class has never invited him even for a lecture on a simple topic like 'The place of ethics in public leadership' or such topics. What exactly has Buhari been doing since 1999 apart from contesting elections? NOTHING!!! He is simply unproductive. Even Dino Maleye (with his poor domestic records) has been far more productive than Buhari. It is better to have this man do something, even if I disagree with his strategy, than what we have right now.
the militant never listened to their own people until a nothern president came in and over-saw the negotiation by tabling what the fighters could look at then. Why has the southern president not been able to get boko haram to listen to their people even if it means bringing them(boko haram) to their knees via military offensive? Dont forget that even as obj is not seen as the person who ended militancy, he made sure the militants were under pressure; weakened them to some length for yaradua that succeeded him to have a soft landing with them. Dont give me names of edwin clerk, oritsejeafor etc as if they ended the militancy, but the C-in-C(yaradua) who acted like one by creating an enabling environment for the truce to take place.
Again, u want to know buhari's contribution to democracy since 99. Voting and contesting to be voted for is enough contribution to any democracy anywhere in the world. Believing in democracy itself is a contribution. Challenging the outcome of an election thought not to be free, fair and credible in the competent court of the land is enough testimony to show buhari's contribution to our nascent democracy- a move that has consolidated democracy and made it grow a little. Buhari has created a political party and his party is part of the merger. This tells u buhari's resolve to always contribute positively to the growth of democracy. Buhari accepting the court judgement even though he was obviously hoodwinked and armtwisted by 3 judges plus the attorney general to favor the power in place then is enough tetimony to show u how buhari is contributing to our democracy.
You want buhari to be recognized like the likes of obj who ruled in this civilian dispensation even as buhari was a military head of state; something the west does not support? Apart from Abdulsalam who enjoys this privilege for handing over to civilian, tell me one of our past leaders that's currently enjoying this.
Or, you want buhari to be seen giving public lectures? You have not seen him doing this before , so he does not contribute anything to democracy. I guess ur understanding of contribution to democracy is limited and concerntric to holding public lectures.

even the presence of C-in-C himself is not being felt, not to talk of the VP. The only time we feel the power of the president is in deploying more security to a peaceful state during election, while he looks away when the few security men sent to the northeast are defecting due to boko haram fire power. And we feel the power of gej when it comes to fighting the opposition or putting the national assembly under lock.

My brother, I am tempted to agree with you on the bolded. But I also have a general opinion that on its own, religion is not the problem of Nigeria (or indeed of the world) but the HUMAN INTERPRETATION OF THE MESSAGE OF THE VARIOUS RELIGIONS. Most religious texts for any faith can be turned on its head to suit the purpose of the very powerful human minds.

In this particular case, I believe PDP antics deprive the nation probably the best possible combination. A party that has nothing TANgible thing to campaign on and in its desperation and devilish wisdom decided to cause acrimony among the people in order to stay in power by hammer on the nation's fault line (as if pdp is a christian party and if so let the majority muslim north cast their votes for apc)
may God bless ur wife!
That is exactly my point. The simple and common message of every religion which harps on love, tolerance, peace, respect has been ignored by these so called adherents of religion and, they want u to believe they follow the teaching of their religion.
