A Nigerian lady, Dami Ewa Stratton, who previously had 2 failed marriages, has narrated how she found love again with a Prince who had never been married.

The beauty of her new union is that her hearthrob, Emmanuel Cole, is from a royal family, single, and doesn’t have any kids.

The Nigerian Navy, Forward Operating Base, Ibaka, in the Mbo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, has arrested four suspects in connection with the smuggling of 120 bags of contraband rice.

Three fibre boats with 200,175 and 150 horsepower Yamaha outboard engines, a generator and other items were also intercepted with the 50kg bags of rice said to have been brought in from Cameroon.

Speaking on Tuesday in Ibaka during the handover of the suspects and items to the Nigeria Customs Service, the Commanding Officer, FOB, Captain Yusuf Idris, who was represented by Captain Reginald Adoki, said the navy would not cease to apprehend smugglers.

Idris added that the new practice of splitting smuggled rice into smaller boats to avoid detection had failed.

He said the Nigerian Navy was committed to ridden the waterways of illegal activities, particularly smuggling, which he described as a perennial problem.

Idris noted that the authorities of the navy had equipped the base with everything it needed to check all forms of maritime illegality.

He stated, “On behalf of the commanding officer of the base, I hand over these four suspects, all of them Nigerians, and a total of 120 bags of 50kg rice; four Yamaha outboard engines, which have 200 horsepower, 175 horsepower; 150 horsepower; one defective generator, and some other items.

“Our gunboat intercepted three fibre boats at the Mbo River close to our base, laden with 50kg bags of foreign rice suspected to have been smuggled into the country from the Republic of Cameroon.

“We have observed the use of smaller boats by smugglers to convey the illegal products, thinking that if they are put in bigger boats, they are easily detectable.

Receiving the suspects and the items, the Chief Superintendent of Customs in charge of harbour, Ibrahim Adamu, who represented the Controller, Eastern Marine Command, NCS, Port Harcourt, Elton Edorhe, thanked the Nigerian Navy for the collaboration existing between them and appealed that it be sustained.

He stated, “On behalf of the Customs Area Commander, Elton Edorhe, we will like to use this opportunity to thank the Nigerian Navy, FOC Ibaka, for this wonderful seizure. We hope that this synergy and collaboration that has existed will be sustained.

“I use this opportunity to call on the smugglers, no matter the trick they use in concealing these illegal items, definitely, the Navy will always fish them out. A word is enough for the wise; they should do the needful and desist from this economic sabotage.”

Police in Lagos said they had begun an investigation into a case of rape reported against two friends, who allegedly took a 23-year-old girl to a club and raped her.

Spokesman of the command, CSP Chike Oti, said in a statement on Tuesday that the suspects, who had been apprehended took the victim to Dallankester Hotels, Lekki, Phase One, on Friday.

According to Oti, unknown to the victim that the duo had ulterior motives, while at the club, they mixed the young woman’s drink with a substance that made her weak and almost unconscious.

“Satisfied that the drug was beginning to affect the victim, they quietly left the club with her to Dallankester Hotels in Lekki, owned by the father of one of the suspects named Don-Chima George.

“At the hotel, they took turns to rape her. As if that wasn’t enough, they videoed the abuse.

“When the victim woke up from the induced sleep, she confronted the suspects who denied having carnal knowledge of her.

“Not satisfied, she placed a call to her elder brother complaining that she had been violated.

“The brother immediately invited policemen from Maroko Division led by the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Isah Abdulmajid, to the scene.

“On searching the suspects, the DPO recovered their phones and went through their video recordings where he saw a video of the suspects sexually abusing the apparently unconscious victim,” he said.

Oti said the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Edgal Imohimi, had directed the Gender Section of the command to investigate and prosecute the suspects to serve as a deterrent to others.

A disc jockey identified as Jerry Okirwoth has been killed by concert-goers for playing boring music.

Late Jerry Okirwoth, a part time DJ and student at Parombo Secondary School in Uganda was murdered by the mob for failing to play their favourite songs. He was killed in a disco hall in Nebbi District, Northern Uganda.

Nebbi Resident District Commissioner William Bob Labeja blamed the establishment’s management for failing to protect the fast rising DJ from the angry crowd.

"As the head of security in the district, I will no longer allow any disco operators to conduct their businesses in the sub-county and anybody who defies the directive will be prosecuted.

All disco halls in all sub counties must be closed because they are causing insecurity and redundancy among the youth,” he told the press.

In 2014, three Zimbabwean men were charged with murder after assaulting a DJ on Independence Day for playing ‘boring music’. Elson Samuel Tirivavi, 22, suffered severe head injuries after he was hit with a chair and a bottle in the ensuing fight.

Ghanaian actor, John Dumelo has spoken on his marriage to Gifty Mawunya Nkornu and has also opened up on the reports that his wife gave birth 6 months after they got married.

The actor and aspiring politician who was a guest on Yvonne Okoro’s cooking show ‘Dining with Cooks and Braggarts’ said his wife’s pregnancy just happened as it was something he didn’t plan.

John admitted on the show that, he was dating colleague actor, James Gardiner’s cousin, Frances before meeting his wife.

Speaking more on his relationship with Gifty Mawunya now Mrs Dumelo, he revealed that he knew her for a couple of years and they were just friends because Gifty was also dating somebody else by then.

The actor didn’t however, state if he broke up with Frances before starting any relationship with Gifty but he stated that “things just did not go on well”.

Also talking about his marriage which came as a surprise to dozens of his fans and with reports that he never informed his ex of his upcoming nuptials, John revealed that he actually informed Frances before tying the not.

“Well I did, I think it’s just the honourable thing to do, just to say this is what it is,” he told Yvonne Okoro and added that at the time of informing Frances about his marriage, they weren’t dating.

Diamond Platnumz wants his wedding day declared public holiday in Tanzania, as he plans to get married to his Kenyan model girlfriend, Tanasha Donna Barbieri.

In a recent interview Diamond explained that he wants the government to consider his wish so that all his family members can attend the ceremony.

“The reason why we had to change the date is because Tanasha’s mother will be working on Valentine’s Day. I do not want a small wedding, if it is possible I would like the government to consider it a public holiday,” he said.

In December last year, Diamond officially announced his intentions to marry his sweetheart on valentines day however, he extended the dates because some super star celebrities like Rick Ross could not make it and yet he wanted his party to be big.

The police in Lagos, on Monday, arraigned a salesman, Joseph Ogang, before an Ogba Magistrates’Court for allegedly stealing 34 packs of human hair worth N2.3m.

According to the police prosecutor, Benson Emuerhi, the 45-year-old Ogang, who was a salesman at Kechi Hair Beauty Salon, conspired with others, who are still at large, to steal the product from his employer.

Emuerhi, who told the court that Ogang sold the human hair and converted the proceeds to his personal use, also alleged that the suspect stole the sum of N150,000.

He added that Ogang committed the offences on September 9, 2018, at No. 25 Oba Akinjobi Street, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos, around 10.30am.

Ogang was arraigned on two counts of conspiracy and stealing.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor said the offences contravened sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The presiding magistrate, Olufunke Sule-Amzat, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.

She said one of the sureties must be a blood relation of the defendant.

Sule-Amzat added that the sureties must be gainfully employed and show evidence of two years tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

She adjourned the case till February 21 for mention.

A woman has been delivered of a baby girl at the ongoing PDP rally at the Council Pavillion of Isiokolo in Ethiope East LGAof Delta State.

The baby girl was delivered at about 12:00 noon. The woman, identified as, Odiri Benjamin, and the baby were later taken to a nearby hospital for further medical care.

A native doctor, Jacob Alonge, who was accused of impregnating his own daughter, Gift, has retracted his guilty plea.

The 54-year-old, who was to be sentenced after pleading guilty to charges of incest, reportedly changed his plea after the news that his 17-year-old daughter had died in an accident on the way to a magistrates’ court in Benin City, Edo State.

Among those who also died in the ill-fated vehicle were Gift’s uncle, Mr Ukere Adagbogu; a worker with a non-governmental organisation, BraveHeart Initiative for Youth and Women, Ms Promise Ezekiel; and the driver, Paul Opashi.

Another worker with the NGO, Ms Rhoda Braimoh, who was in a critical condition, was reported to have also given up the ghost, bringing the casualty figure to five.

PUNCH Metro had reported that Gift and her father lived in Ososo, Akoko-Edo area of Edo State.

Jacob, who was said to possess diabolical powers, was alleged to have aborted the first pregnancy that resulted from the incest in 2017, using herbal concoctions.

The second pregnancy was said to have caught the attention of the local vigilante group, which handed him over to the traditional ruler of the Ososo community.

At the Ososo Police Station, Jacob allegedly made a confessional statement, as the case was transferred to the family unit of the state Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Benin City.

A scan was said to have revealed that Gift was 21 weeks pregnant.

The police subsequently arraigned the suspect before a family court at the Evbuoraria Magistrates’ Court, Benin, where he pleaded guilty to the charges in December 2018.

On January 16, 2019, the day the suspect was to be sentenced, the pregnant Gift, her uncle, workers of the NGO who were helping her, the driver and the leader of the community vigilante group were involved in a fatal accident at Ewu, Edo State.

The judgment was reportedly suspended when the news of the tragedy got to the attention of the court.

Shaken by the incident, the NGO also shut down operations.

Our correspondent learnt that when the matter came up on January 16, 2019, Jacob changed his plea from guilty to not guilty.

The founder of BraveHeart, Ms Priscilla Usiobaifo, in a statement on Sunday, said only justice would assuage the hurt of the organisation.

Usiobaifo added, “They (victims) died on the field, while serving humanity. They sacrificed their lives to ensure that justice is obtained for a young girl (Gift Alonge, now demised), whose father had sexually abused and serially assaulted for years and even impregnated on multiple occasions.

“The BHI hereby calls for justice for Gift Alonge, as the accused (Jacob Alonge), changed his plea from guilty to not guilty after learning about his daughter’s death, as well as the death of other key witnesses.

“I urge all civil rights activists, feminist sisters, NGO colleagues and the Akoko-Edo community, especially the Ososo people, to rise to the occasion and demand the much-desired justice.”

The Chairman, Board of Trustees of the organisation, Grace Osakue, said the NGO did not believe that the accident was connected to Jacob’s alleged diabolical powers, adding that it was a mere coincidence.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the case had been adjourned till February 14, 2019.

A tough fight broke out between two ladies who went to ply their sex trade at a popular street in Ikeja area of Lagos as they engaged themselves in a public brawl over clients.

It was gathered that the duo went to the place to hustle for clients and when a particular client eventually arrived in the evening, they struggled to win his attention and in the process has a disagreement which made the client to drive off.

The disagreement degenerated to physical fighting between them in the public glare.

During the public brawl, Charity used a sharp object to injure Joy and she was rushed to an undisclosed hospital.

The matter was reported to the police at Ikeja Division and Charity was arrested. After interrogation, the police found her culpable and charged her before the Ogba Magistrates Court for assault.

She pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Inspector Benson Emerhi, did not oppose her being granted bail and asked the court for a date for hearing on the matter.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Sule-Amzat, granted her bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.

She was remanded in prison custody pending when she will perfect her bail conditions. The matter was adjourned till 28th February, 2019.
