If you think things have gotten harder financially for people in the southern part of Nigeria since the fuel subsidy was removed, then you have to multiply that hardship by at least 5 to know how it is in the north.

With this pronouncement by Atiku, the race has been blown open. And the race would be won or lost in the north.

My opinion

Only an ignoramus will believe Atiku will bring back fuel subsidy.

1: Where will he get the money from?
2: subsidy requires an act of parliament, which senate or house members will pass a subsidy bill knowing full well their governors need the money and those governors control their fate? Some of you don’t understand many of these things are legacies from the military era. They are things that were created by military fiat! But just like creation of states, re-introduction of subsidies is almost impossible in a civilian regime.
3: Atiku will tell you anything to get elected, if he doesn’t remove the subsidy nothing will happen. He is not interested in reelection, all he wants is for the records to reflect he was president of Nigeria.
4: You think Dangote will supply you petrol and be waiting 3 years to get paid when he can easily export his entire output?

Nobody will bring back fuel subsidy!

This is the reason I believe there needs to be a minimum level of enlightenment, education and awareness to qualify to vote.

When we hustle to make money, we must also realize when enough is enough because too much money can make you do silly things. I mean how else do you explain that this man is wasting his money contesting for president?

I have already acknowledged in my post that his early life and early schooling is shrouded in mystery but those are not legal arguments. However as far as the law is concerned, he is qualified to run for president by submitting a degree and not a school certificate. The constitution does not ask a presidential candidate to explain his life history or give account of every school he attended. Again if there are lapses in your education go for English remedial classes. The operative word is “minimum”. “Minimum” is not the same as “mandatory’! Should I post the definition of minimum for an adult who claims to be educated?

Are there gaps in his early life and early education? yes!
Is he legally qualified to run for president by submitting a degree certificate and not a school leaving certificate? yes! One has nothing to do with the other!

This idea that power supply is more stable or increases during the rainy season is ancient thinking. Most of our power comes from gas not hydro. If anything you are more likely to experience power cuts in the rainy season especially in Lagos where sometimes it is deliberately switched off during heavy rain to prevent damage to their equipment.

Lagos state govt are incompetent. They don’t respond until there is a crisis. the damage done to Nigeria started in the 1980s. nobody can truly fix nigeria in less than 30 years. To start with, 80-90% of our current working population are unfit for purpose as they are products of the decay that started in the 1980s and cannot deliver a competitive economy or a "fixed" country.
The generation that delivered a Nigeria that worked and was on a good path in the 60s, 70s and up to the mid 80s were born in the 30s-50s and entered the workforce in the 60s and 70s. if you embarked on a sustained plan to fix nigeria today, you have to discount the current generation and focus on the child who will start primary school in september and know that the results will not manifest till 2050-60.

in the same way as a concerted effort starting in the 50s and 60s produced those in their 80s-90s now, it is those will start primary school in september that can deliver the workforce that can fix Nigeria. This current generations those of us between the ages of 20-70 are largely a waste of space and cant deliver anything other than a patch patch economy and country. you cant give what you dont have.
