Yeah, about it been the 18A version you may have a point. The current one I got is 22A. I know about the forum. I'm a member for like two years or so. Thanks for the update.

Here is what you are looking for. I get the feeling all Spf5000s can be overpanelled including the 18A but you must perform a firmware upgrade especially on the 18As.

https://www.amosplanet.org/forums/topic/overpaneling-on-spf5000es/

Edit: Also discovered that Timselectric was using the 18a version and his parallel setup simply capped his available amps at 18.2A. So looks likes you can parallel either, the inverter simply won’t draw more than the max (18 or 22). Hence Amos’s comments about waste if you overpanel excessively.

If you watch the 2nd video again from around 4:50, his strings are 12a each totaling 24A….on his 22a version.

I'm only cautious as when I tried it with Longi 450w with 11.60A Isc it kept shutting down at peak sun hours. It stopped when I removed the parallel.

It could be because you have one of the earlier Growatt with 18a. I think the German guy said something like that on another video. Whatever the case get to your firmware number and ask Amos. It could be you need a firmware update.

Here is the thread. In fact it wasn’t 15kw but 23.5Kw on 3 spf5000s. He has since moved on to Deye

If you’ve got Growatt make use of amosplanet…seriously! It’s the go to site for Growatt related matters.

even if u stay safe within the limits of voc.. wat abt Isc. Most piple believe an inv will just take wat it needs and leave the rest. Which i doubt esp wen i see error code of over current on the manual of any inv..

I have just sent you a picture with a post from the engineer from Growatt. What else do you want…feel free to ask him directly. This is from the source.

I don’t know why this is even a debate, there is so much resource on the web about overpanelling. I’m shocked!

My panel's PV parallel current exceeds 22A, which is the maximum PV input current of Growatt SPD5000ES.

I don't have doubt you can over panel it; maybe with panels that has Isc of less than 11A. Mine is 13.4A

You can safely. There are numerous examples. In fact the growatts are well known for overpanelling. I’ll look for the guy who ran his for months and post. Like I said make use of Amosplanet and ask Amos directly. He is one of the engineers at Growatt China.

Bro I am full Yoruba. But I always wonder if N. Kanu is a terrorist? See, no western country will give citizenship to a terrorist not to talk of allowing him to live with them and considering how he was kidnapped, I am wondering who is the real terrorist here.

I don’t care which tribe you belong. It is neither here nor there and I see no reason why you feel a need to mention it. There are videos all over the internet where Kanu gave orders to kill (including soldiers) and destroy property. If that is not terrorism I do t know what is!

what is the max input current on thhis model be it stc or imp.

I am not sure what the SPF5000 can handle (early models say 18, later models 22) but the SPF6000es which is rated for 16A on each MPPT can handle 60A. This is direct from Growatt engineer. The bottom line with growatts and many (not all) inverters and SCCs is do not exceed VOc under any condition but there is often a lot of wiggle room on current side.

Visit www.amosplanet.Org for more info on Growatts. It is a blog run by a Growatt engineer.
I think two 3.5-4K strings in parallel on an spf5000 is a sweet spot. It should give reasonable to good output in bad weather and will have a broader output curve and won’t waste too much power in sunny weather

Thanks for the reply, but when you said you've done it, thought you exceeded the maximum VoC of your system. In this Growatt scenario, we want to have someone exceed slightly the maximum VoC to see what happens.

Why take the risk exceeding the Voc, when you can just over panel with parallel strings? And have a wider power curve?

Growatt spf5000 are well known to handle overpanelling so long as you don’t exceed the voc. Some guy even had 15kw on his spf5000.

Just overpanel with parallel strings with a lower safer VOC

This guy below had 2x 4k parallel strings on his spf5000, that’s just one example.

If you doubt me ask Yaradu'a how he solved militancy problems.

If only you also asked why a senator of the federal republic stood bail for a terrorist?

Fast forward to May 2024 and my income is still in dollars but now I receive between N1200 and N1500 for my dollar. It also means that in dollar terms the N400,000 ($888) I owe is now only $296. Wheras I needed $888 from my dollar income to pay the debt, now I only need $296 and still have $592 change. If you had any brain cells it means I have more Naira now which means it is easier to offset my Naira debts.

There is a difference between having Naira debt and having dollar debt.

Don't play on people's intelligence. Tinumbu had mentioned that old anthem prior to becoming president and now confirming that it's his priority means he pushed for its passage. And knowing how those selfish things at the national assembly work it's obvious Tinumbu wanted passed ASAP.

As for governors and others, there's the exclusive and concurrent lists. Let's hold Tinumbu responsible for the ones on the exclusive list.

Don’t tell me about concurrent and exclusive when you don’t understand separation of powers.

Tinubu did not pass the bill, the National Assembly did. This is governance 101.

Tinubu may have expressed a wish to return to the old anthem but it was not an executive bill….a LP senator from Anambra said this on Arise…..quite frankly I had always said it that the old new anthem does not resonate.

Again go back to study governance 101 and learn what an executive bill is and in fact why it is called “executive”.

Excuse me, please familiarize yourself with the process of passing bills. The senate and house are independent and they pass bills, the president accents and signs. If you have a problem with the speed of passage, lay the blame at the parliament where to the best of my knowledge there was no opposition and even LP members have been on Tv wholeheartedly in favor and defending the bill.

Everybody blames the president for everything, you forget you have governors and parliamentarians and they have a role to play. Your governors are collecting twice the money they were collecting before fuel subsidy removal, what are they doing with it?…..but no it is the president you will blame.

Your nightclub narrative has nothing in common with the subject of discussion at all. You're providing excuses for government's frivolous spending while blaming the underpaid workers, all the best for you abeg.

The same Labour unions will protest their sacking. That’s why the civil service is over bloated. For instance, how many workers are employed by the refineries and doing no work, going on training , collecting salaries for over a decade?

The government frivolous spending also includes paying idle workers. Workers that do no work and those that do little work. Just go to any government agency and observe the No of workers doing nothing.

What happens, if in another 4 years another governor comes and revert back to the repealed law?

Know your history. Your grandfather sells your family land. The new owner allows him to stay on it to help him watch over it. It is no longer your family land despite the fact that you are allowed to stay on it. You are now a tenant not a landlord and stay at the pleasure of your landlord. You are parading yourself as a landlord on land that no longer belongs to you.

The farce with Nigerian traditional institutions is the parading themselves as Kings with a kingdom when if fact their ancestors were conquered and defeated by the British and only retained the title of Kings to fool the locals whereas they became employees of the State.

But for the fact that the British were understaffed and needed them to help administer the locals their ancestors would have been banished like they are banishing Kings and Emirs today.

You guys don't see that everything is interconnected. If the govt allows 500k minimum wage, most likely they (senators/govs etc) had to reduce their salaries, benefits and budget for infrastructure and all that to pay salaries in the public sector.
This means that these political elites will no longer be able to afford France for healthcare and that would mean lacing their boots to improve healthcare in Nigeria. They would not be able to invite foreign construction companies for inflated quotation and embezzle money, so they'd have to invest in local construction etc etc So you see the pattern? And so new jobs will be created.

And in the private sector, those offloaded in an already overcrowded private sector will begin to find themselves in jobs that have been created from the government, jobs that are actually important for nation development like construction, healthcare etc. And it is in these sectors we should be having billionaires not only from oil.

This would resemble the Japanese economy where there's low corruption and millions are middle/upper class while they have 40 billionaires or so and a few thousand poor people.

But most of your political elites are not dumb. They're actually really smart, they understand class consciousness and they know what a little forgoing will do to the dynamics of Nigeria's inequitable wealth sharing.

I thought this forum was for adults not children?
