eledalo:You couldn't have said it any better. I checked yesterday's Uber weekender and looked out for the highest earnings for the previous week and it was conspicuously missing. You should've seen the grin on my face. In all of this wahala, I feel the most for guys who took out loans just to operate on Uber/Taxify. I have since Wednesday withdrawn my cars off the road. I can't even begin to reconcile all of this. |
OlugbengaE:Honestly, I fail to understand why guys can't do simple maths to understand that with these new rates whether Taxify decides to take zero percent (0%) commission or Uber takes its 25% commission, it just doesn't pay anymore to be on the road. My take is only the stubborn ones will decide to brave this slavery, but only time will tell how many of them will continue with Uber and Taxify. Even Oga Taxi now has similar rates (N200 base fare/N5 per minute/N55 per km). Let's see how far they can go when they are no longer able to meet up with rental fees/fuelling/maintenance costs and personal obligations. I have 2 cars I personally drive registered with the 2 dominant companies, but I'm no slave to enrich anyone. My cars are off the road until such a time when Uber and Taxify decide to have a brain reset to default.

codeworks:Check on AliExpress. It's cheaper there. |
The end game for partner/drivers is that Uber and Taxify are no longer a profitable venture. The 20k you made last week has effectively been halved. For you to make that same 20k, what it means is that you're going to have to travel twice the distance you covered last week. So, assuming you spent 3k on fuelling to achieve that 20k of last week, you'd have to spend double that i.e. 6k to get that same 20k. Does this make any economic sense? Guys, do your maths properly and don't be fooled by Uber's top-up game. It's all semantics like they always do. Shine ya eye! |
My Note 3 has not been the same since I did this damn upgrade. Does anyone know how I can roll back to 6.0 if it's possible? |
OlugbengaE:Trust me, this is more than ridiculous. |
It will be very interesting to see how many partners/drivers will be able to cope with this fare reduction and still find it sustainable. To break-even will become more tasking in my opinion. Uber new rates go live tomorrow at 12noon which makes it at par with the Taxify offering. Both companies throw up the excuse that the reduced fares will inspire riders to take more trips. That's true no doubt, but have they considered the commensurate increase in the wear and tear of the cars?Bearing in mind that costs of vehicle parts in Nigeria like other commodities are soaring higher by the day without any hope of coming down, many partners/drivers are going to resort to "managing" the wear and tear. Riders should just get ready to make so much noise about riding in jalopies. I can just picture the yellow cab baba smiling at this new development. |
Lacomb:I'm so honoured. |
Lacomb:Beelink? That's great! And I hope it's serving you well. Once the guys at CastTV get their acts together, I'll give them a shot. Like I said, I did a trial and I was quite impressed with their service. |
BluePearls:Their website is www.fob.ng, but it's rather empty in my opinion without any useful information. Better still, give them a call on 08077143525 and ask all the questions you have. Cheers. |
Boldtrust:Get the AliExpress app downloaded on your Android phone. You'd get prices usually lower on the app than you'd get when you browse on a regular computer. At least that I've come to realise. |
Dam5reey:I'm glad you found my recommendations useful. Does anyone have other reliable apps/apks especially for Live TV? Pls share. |
BluePearls:Luckily for me, I use an ISP called KKontech that has its fibre optics cable running through my estate in Gbagada which costs just N10,500 per month and gives me unlimited access to the Internet. I don't mean unlimited in the sense that Spectranet and Smile want you to believe where they throttle down your speed as you hit a threshold. I mean true unlimited. |
Lacomb:You're welcome back to Lasgidi. Lucky you that SolidStreamz worked on your box. I have only just opened it for the first time after a long while after reading your comment cos it crashes anytime I try to go out of any channel back to the main menu. Besides, the channels freeze like crazy. This isn't fun for me. At the moment, I paid for the IPTV called SETTV which cost $20 (N6,400 using my GTB card) and my subscription expires on May 10 after which I'm going to try out something else. There are a couple of other paid IPTVs I'm assessing like NitroTV, LEDTV, CastTV. Of all, CastTv is my favourite cos I tried it out for 2 days and it was awesome with fantastic HD picture quality. Freezing of channels was least experienced on it unlike others. The only problem I'm having with them is the mode of payment. Their system isn't quite developed to accept debit/credit cards yet. Just IBAN numbers and some other details of which I can't shout if the transaction goes south. Personally, I'm not a KODI fan. Have you tried LiveNetTV, Mobdro, UKTVNow, New CloudTV (all for live TV), HDOnline, Terrarium, Newest Movies HD, Movies HD, MegaBox HD, ShowBox (all for your favourite movies and TV shows) and also TVNow (download this from Google PlayStore for your Nigerian/foreign channels like GalaxyTV, Silverbird, Channels, LTV, DW, Al Jazeera, VOA, etc)? Lest I forget, what TV box did you get? |
Exploring the Android TV box I got recently has continued to prove interesting as the days go by. Basically, I got it because I was tired of the boring nature of DSTV. Ever since taking delivery, I have tried all manner of apps/apks ranging from the free ones like UKTVNow, SolidStreamz, Mobdro, LiveNETTv all for Live TV down to the paid apps like SETTV, NitroTV, LEDTV and CastTV. What I have noticed like others too might have is that the free apps aren't so reliable. At the moment, I subscribed to a 1-month access to SETTV which costs $20/month. I did this after trying out their 3-day trial offer. But just today after receiving the setup details for a 1-day trial offer from CastTV and then setting it up using the Perfect Player app downloaded from Google PlayStore, I must say I'm really impressed with the quality of the channels on their platform. I just might continue with CastTV once my subscription to SETTV expires. This will take care of the live TV while apps like ShowBox, Terrarium, MegaboxHD, HDOnline will take care of my movie needs. I'd very much love and appreciate it if anyone could hook me up with any other app/apk I haven't tried out so far. Cheers

ishittu:I sincerely hope they do. Lots of complaints everywhere. |
priceaction:You're welcome, anytime. For me, acquiring the Android TV box was a way of getting rid of DSTV. I used to do the Compact bouquet which costs 6k/month and I'm sure you know how boring DSTV can be most times. Let nobody kid you, a good Internet service will make the experience pleasurable. I'm not limited in any way as I have access to unlimited downloads via my internet service provider. So, Internet access is one key component you need to consider wisely in weighing your options. |
priceaction:Hi, I don't have any games on my own box set at the moment, but from videos I've watched so far, installing games wouldn't be a problem which of course you can use offline. It works just the way your phone ordinarily does while you play your games offline. The essence of the box really is to do away with your cable dish in the long-run or at best serve as an additional content provider and so why do you contemplate a connection? Having a Smart TV only ups your possibilities e.g. installing the m3u playlists to use on the IPTV feature and a few others. But then, the good old LCD TV will work just fine with any regular Android TV box. Just make sure the TV has the HDMI port for connection with the box. Though some boxes use the traditional AV cables (the red, yellow and white cables) for connecting to the TV, I will shy away from those anytime, any day as the HDMI will always give you better picture clarity. To prove this, check out the Dstv Zapper or Explorer decoder. Any good TV box worth its salt will give you HD or even 4K features. You only need to do your research properly by sieving through the myriads of TV boxes available out there that meet your needs. I advice you buy a box that comes with the Android OS version 6.0 and above. Without the Internet, well you can still play your games. And just like @iliyande said, his own kinda box could give you access to some free to air channels if the right connections are made. There are lots of TV boxes out there to choose from based on factors like price, specifications, etc. Download the AliExpress app on your Android phone and search with the keywords "Android TV box' and you'd be amazed with what you're presented. Enjoy, |
If you experience incessant crashes and your phone restarting at will whenever you use the fingerprint scanner in waking up your phone after the upgrade to Nougat, you might want to disable the fingerprint scanner and just simply use the PIN or password for that instead. It worked for me. |
passendi:Yes, going by the various videos I've seen on YouTube analyzing the Xiaomi Mi box, it sure is a good product. The only thing I seem not comfortable with is the fact that it has no Ethernet port for the LAN cable. I agree one could by an additional device sporting the LAN port, why do I have to incur additional expenses for this? You know Wi-Fi isn't as reliable as the good old hard-wiring. I'm very much satisfied with the Beelink Mini box I have at the moment.

CavendishPlex:And upgrade finally installed. Time to appreciate the new tweaks.
|
I decided to take a plunge last night before going to bed to download the OS 7. Let's see how this pans out.
|
teebell90:Guys seem to be silently enjoying their box sets. |
Has anyone upgraded to the Nougat with any issues/glitches noticed so far? |
Ayodeleseyi65:What's your budget? |
exotique1fy:That was one very useless product I bought for my wife on Jumia in 2015 when they had one of those flash sales for less than 15k. Immediately I got home from the pick up centre and unpacked it, that was the last time I operated it. The screen resolution was so useless that I couldn't afford to toy with my already bad eyesight. My wife complained to no end until one day when I couldn't take it anymore, I simply picked it up, smashed it on the damn floor and packed the pieces into the dustbin. End of Imose! |
Lacomb:It's all good. Hope you had a good trip. |
ceejay80s:Yipeeeeeeeeeeee! Happy for you. |
teebell90:It's a passion for me. I will. @Lacomb How's it going with your TV box? I assume you would've picked it up from the post office by now. |
The Internet is replete with all manner of available IPTV streams you can access without much ado. With the traditional cable TV as we know it taking a hit from so many free apks you can lay your hands on, it's almost as if one wakes up every morning to a new way of accessing live TV, movies and TV shows at little cost or next to nothing. YouTube now has a live TV application called the YouTube TV which gives you live access to over 40 channels, but is only available in five US metropolitan areas for now: Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Philadelphia and the San Francisco Bay Area. YouTube says more cities will be added in the coming months. For 30-day trial run, you can hook up to YouTube TV right from here in Nigeria or anywhere else outside of the initial 5 cities. Check the video and thank me later. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=avYQy7swfpo |
jarkbauer:Yes, third party insurance is the new minimum vehicle insurance you'll need on Uber going by the mail I received on March 11, 2017.

I bought an IMOSE X-1 Pro! honestly this has been the greatest mistake i have made this 2017! i am so annoyed that i wasted 30k on the piece of shit device!
