Poems For Review / I Am Amadi, And I Am Your Dad by cbase: 12:50pm On Feb 07, 2016
From the sides, I watched you
Watched you grow, from the lines
I kept tabs on you, I had to
I spurred you on as I knew best, how could I not
I kept my distance.

You look so much like your mother
You remind me so much of her
She was my everything but you took her away from me
I couldn’t bear to look upon you at birth
Yes she did, She loved you to death.

I couldn’t forgive you, I couldn’t forget
Though not your fault, ‘Cept u were conceived,
Still I held you responsible, I gave up on you,
Shipped you off to boarding school at an early age
Because I was incapable of loving you. I was completely devoid of love, Broken.

Yet you’ve defied all odds
Without the love of your parents
You’ve boisterously excelled
Your smile, ever present
For a child, Your heart is so full of love
You took that from your mom
You cut me deeply each time I look at you
Your birthdays were my mourn-days
A reminder of that night & how much I loved her

But Child, I understand if you hate me
I was so lost in my pain and loss
That I lost out in your life too.
I was selfish but now I realise your pains too
Which I made worse
And if you will, if it’s the same to you
I’d like to start all over again
It won’t be easy for us
That much i know
But am ready to start afresh with you
If you’d let me
Should you hug me, I promise not to cringe
Should you call me Daddy, I try not to flinch
I am Amadi, and I am your Dad

Poems For Review / Re: Because I Kissed Your Lips by cbase: 5:16pm On Jul 18, 2015
I kissed your lips
and I liked it
From the touch of our lips
I knew it should be me and you
The contours and curves of our lips
perfectly fit, surely they were made for each other.

Because I kissed your lips
I have become the man I was meant to be
Hold my hands, love,
let me be all that you desire me to be.

Started from the Bottom, now we're here
We ain't w'ere we desire yet
but we also ain't w'ere we used to be
your love keeps me moving forward (let me ask You be Stanbic IBTC Bank? grin)

Life ain't easy, but you make living it pretty easy
by your side, I find the strength to persevere
What..? I can't hear you? whadda say?
what do you mean by "why", lady?
you know why Apple Pie
It's Because I kissed your Lips. cool

Dyt, here art thou winking to another
barely 24hours after you said "we're forever"
LazyGod please tell me 'she the one you're missing?'

Beware! Soul Brother,
This Dyt, she's a flirt
a devious maid, yes she is
Turned me on, with her gracious offerings
Said to me "Cbase, you are all I desire"
One hand in my pocket, in the hotel room she swooned my away
and now I wake but Dyt! She's gone
Gone with all my belongings!

POLICE!!! This is the Girl
Arrest Her!!!

Poems For Review / Re: Beautiful Distraction by cbase: 4:26pm On Jul 18, 2015
A beautiful distraction, yes she is
Yet perfect blend of reason and passion in you I see
I understand the pangs you feel,
The desire so bare, your heart peel
what keeps you from her I ask?
what is your limitation?
Is she just a spectre for your illumination?
what is the expectation?
Are you bound by the mighty tiny ring?
of the fourth finger? or is she one wearing?
Brother, from one guy to another
if you are unbound and if you can, this Mamasita
make her your task
why be distracted when she can be the focus
savour the distraction & bring her to focus

And if you can't! Pass me her number
let me sing her a number
tell her, oh let me tell her
what a beautiful distraction
a captivating attraction
she can become,
Become for me...Sorry for us. Yes us grin

We can pretend like it’s nothing
We can go on living like we never met
We can live, trying to forget all about us
And the little time we shared.
We can pretend it never mattered
Go on forcing our minds to stop
When we remember and see each other in our minds eyes
We can, yes we can.
But lo… In the end
When the dust settles and the hustle ends
When we breathe deep and easy
Deep beneath the hard crust of our beings
And the realities we live
We both know
The rush, the pomp, when we forget all but the grips of our passion
We had the best time of our lives together.
Did we have it all planned out? Definitely not
Perhaps we could have been… Perhaps not
Ambitions, Emotions, Aspirations – they blind us both
Now you’d said yes – I’m broken
Still, soon you’d say I do – I’m weak
… Still I’d watch on, lost still amongst the fiery drive for self-worth
Angel eyes, Lips like Sugar… I let a jewel slide.
And now . . . we grieve in denial, in our different ways
Try to drown out the other in the oceans of our present lives.

When night comes,fear comes,

A society where we are robbed of our entitlement,
bullets throw parties in the air,
corruption has taken its seat at the top and our government are ambassadors of poverty in foreign nations.
We are independent and at thesame time slaves,
with anger i decided journey into the future to see how it will look if the present is like this,
but ungetting there
guess what i saw...

Very Deep. Nice One bro. Keep it up

I watched a child cry
‘Cos his dad upgraded to Apple IOS 7
But then I see another child cry
‘Cos he’s afflicted with hunger
I’ve seen kids withdrawn from school
‘Cos there isn’t enough to feed them with
Talk less of paying their school fees
No child deserves that
Every kid deserves an education.

I’ve seen children sick
There momma cry for help
‘Lil boy needs a heart surgery or a face lift
But no help’s forthcoming
Such agonies and pains
Sweet mommas’ shouldn’t feel.

I’ve seen a girl child married
To a man old enough to be his grand pa
Give her a pen, not your penis grandpa!
Send her to school, not your bed.
I’ve seen smart kids
Streetwise, talented and not recognized
Till they stowaway in plane wheels
Desperate moves
Bid to escape the country.

But then, this isn’t just about kids
I mean grown folks go hungry too
Families without shelter
Big daddy cry because his lil’ girl’s prostituting
Feel like a bum when he can’t fend for his family
That’s mean; he shouldn’t feel less like a man

I know some friends
Outta school six – seven years ago
Jobless, unemployed
Can’t support themselves
Talk less of starting families
I also know folks who lost their jobs
Means of livelihood
Reminds me to save
Take seriously my financial planning.

I’ve seen the rich take advantage of the poor
And I’ve seen the poor kidnap and kill the rich

Who the hell cares?
But we do, don’t we?

Life is unfair
But we count ourselves lucky
I know I am.
Our stomach don’t hurt
3 times a day we eat
7 days a week
Over our heads there’s a roof
Covered, our unclothedness is
Nourished are our kids
And healthy are our families.

Uncle 2pac said “It's time for us as a people to start making some changes.
Change the way we live and change the way we treat each other.”
I wonder what it takes to make this world a better place...
Let’s start that war on poverty
its time to heal each other

Feed that hungry child
Pick an interest, send him to school
Invest in that poor home
Orphanages abound
Even amidst us helpless orphans struggle
I got love for my unemployed brothers,
We can go somewhere definitely
When we share with each other

If we don’t take care of them
Who will? Definitely not Dettol

Come on! Adopt a charity
Give hope
Give Back
