Politics › 2015: APC Moves To Merge With Labour Party, NLC Against Jonathan by cbrass(op): 3:29pm On Nov 17, 2014
Following the exit of Ondo State governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, from the Labour Party (LP), the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is said to be moving for a takeover of the LP Platform ahead of the 2015 elections.
Plans were underway by leaders of the APC to take over the LP and utilise it as an ally in the 2015 election.
It was gathered that the APC saw MImiko’s exit as a huge opportunity, since the development could afford it the opportunity to coordinate workers by taking control of the LP structure.

Meetings of some strategists, said to have been held sometime last week and on Thursday, 13 November, had concluded on the development, it was learnt at the weekend.
“Plans are underway by top political figures in the APC to enhance the political profile of the party and ensure a complete takeover of the LP, by galvanising the structures of LP nationwide.
“This will ensure that the workers party is denied the chance of working with the Presidency and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in any form, while the state chapters of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) will be galvanised to key into the aspiration of the new LP leadership.
“Before now, the LP, with Mimiko’s presence, had been under the control of the Presidency,” the source said.

It was gathered that some labour leaders are already aware of the move by leaders of the opposition party, as a source at the meeting called on 13 November confirmed that some of the leaders suggested that top labour leaders and unionists in the 36 states of the federation should go back and ensure that they use structures of the NLC to galvanise the workers to join the LP in their domain.
A source said that an unnamed committee of the APC would work in tandem with key labour leaders to ensure that the LP structure is deployed for the purposes of the opposition party.
The source further said: “It was also revealed that the decision to take over LP’s new structures would offer the APC a platform to effectively use the workers nationwide to muscle the fiscal/economic policies of the Federal Government and, thereby, portray the Goodluck Jonathan-led administration as anti-workers.”

It was, however, gathered that some labour leaders have been reading through the script, as some of them were said to have suspected that the bid to get all workers galvanised under the LP might be for some motives.
“Other labour leaders believed that some elements in the labour leadership might have been financially or materially suborned into thinking up the option which is seen as purely partisan and may not be in workers’ interest,” a source said.

Frivolous and dubious allegations. If they're sure of themselves, why not present all this evidence to the EFCC? The only Ex governors under investigation for corruption by the EFCC were all PDP governors. Lam Adesina, Bisi Akande and Bola Tinubu were never dragged to court for corruption whereas Akala, Gbenga Daniel and Fayose all have corruption cases in court. If they're so sure that Fayemi stole money, let them petition the EFCC. After the EFCC is controlled by the PDP Federal government.
abi o wink

You are indeed a joker. The constitution is irrelevant and also relevant in the same sentence. Wow! your igbotic mentality.
Don't mind the Aba mentality in him, who is holding them from contesting , shebi one igbotic woman contested for the governorship in lagos some years back and was disgraced, they want somone to give it to them on a platter but we won't , this is why they are playing the bootlicker script for south-south by supporting jonathan so as to become the next president after him but they have failled, the south-south guys don't even trust them grin

And you think ifa is restricted to just ekiti?
OMG!! shocked when and where did I say Ifa is restricted to ekitit state alone huh All am saying is the root of ifa was from Ekiti state hence the popularity of the prefi IFA in most of the indigenous names there

It will never see the light of day. During the debate there was a proposition that the non indigene claiming indigeneship (as in Igbo claiming non-Igbo land, because this is a matter concerning the Igbos only) would have to completely renounce their original state of origin. So if Emeka want to claim Lagos, he must completely renounce his Igboness and will get a discharge letter from his original state. If there is a war/conflict Emeka must fight on the side of his adopted state i.e. fight Igbos for Yorubas if necessary.
Don't mind that ethnic bigot, I don't know why the ibos are so keen in claiming lagos as their own, why can't you go and claim maiduguri or chibok grin the yorubas and other tribes are minding their business. They are the only ones pushing for lagos, well the saying that "Lagos is no man's land" doesn't mean an ibo guy has a stake in it

Since you are a Yoruba, you've taken time to study Yoruba history and know that names "with ifa could come from other areas in Yorubaland", why did you state the OP/Aljharem could be right?
Please let me first of all ask what you scored in English Language? I used the word "COULD" doesn't this suggest to you that am not affirming it that fashola is from ekiti state , however considering the fact that that prefi is popular in ekiti state was what made me say "COUlD"

While you're right that "Fa" prefix is common to Ekiti state, it is not an Ekiti dialect hence not exclusive to Ekiti.

The same goes for "Odu" not being exclusive to the Ijebu.

So "Fa" holds no knowledge on Sola's Ekiti origin.
No one is talking about dialect here, have you asked your self why "Fa" is common in Ekiti

You are a fuuktard. If Ifa names are peculiar to Ekiti (which are not), why is it difficult to name his town?

PS:
Ifa derives from Yoruba religion, and Ifa names are common throughout Yoruba land.
I don't see were I insulted you to warrant this insult you giving me here..huh Well I will pretend I didn't see that, its either you are not even yoruba or probably you are one of those that haven't taken their time to study the history of somethings in yoruba land. Go and do your findings about the origin of ifa worship then come back here and appologise. However names that start with ifa could come from other areas In yorubaland but it is most common in Ekiti state

Can you tell us Fasola's home town in Ekiti?
The op maybe right concerning that of fashola reason been that names that starts with Ifa have there root in ekiti hence names like fashola , fabunmi, fasoro, faseyi is common over there

Wow !! that JAMB form. It seems like no real indigenous Lagosian has ever governed Lagos. I was meant to understand that both Tinubu and Fashola are also migrants from the South West. so, if migrants from the SW can govern Lagos, why not migrants from the SE ?.
I don't subscribe to the view that a migrant from Osun or Ekiti has more claims to Lagos than an Igbo, Calabar or Hausa man born and bred in Lagos. I believe the national assembly is looking into the matter right now.

I will voting PDP anyway. no matter who they bring out for Lagos. We need freedom from Tinubu grip. Lagosians cannot breath freely anymore.
Lmao , well no one is saying that u ibos shouldn't contest nw, atleast there was an ibo woman who came out from justice party during the last elections but we learnt she didn't have up to 100votes sef grin so go try ur luck bro.....or I hope u r not trying to look for backdoors
