Putinofrussia:
Let them protest in peace if they dont want to dialogue.
They should watch it so they dont inhibit others from exercising their right of movement.
I am suspecting a made up story because there is no picture and no other news outlet seems to know any protest in Ibadan today.
What dialogue are you talking about? They're asking for policies that will help ameliorate the inflation and improve the quality of living of the masses.

Funny generalization. You've obviously not been to Idi Araba, Alaba Rago, etc. They have communal enclaves where they live with their wives and kids.

Then what would you say about the northern kids in the west?

The people that jerk up that figures are the teenagers from North and East that came to hustle in South West, especially Lagos

South West is becoming the hub of these destitutes from other regions.
Eastern kids enrolled in Western schools far outnumber the Northern kids. They shouldn't even be in the same sentence.

North West and North East together contributes a total of 73.6% out of school children. Now that's massive and a ticking time bomb
Those guys no suppose rule us normally.

It's a lie. I can say that with confidence because I worked in the agency for Non-Formal Education which gathered such statistics in my state. SW. We normally cook statistics in order to get grants from international donors. I can bet it, the total number of out of school children in SW can not reach 1%. What are they doing at home, even the poorest of the poor strive to enrol their children in private school.

No it hasn’t solved all the problems. Nigeria problem cannot be solved in a day.

However, this will solve the problem of several hundred thousands of students whose parent cannot afford to pay their school fees.

It will put 240k per annum in the account of those students for upkeep.

This is a good step in the right direction.
It's a Loan, not a grant...

It's quite concerning to hear that Customs is not adhering to Tinubu's directive. This inconsistency could hinder the efforts to alleviate hunger in Nigeria. I trust that Tinubu will address this issue swiftly because he has shown commitment to making food affordable for all Nigerians. Let's hope for a resolution soon!
That's if he's formally given the directive at All. Just like the directive to sell crude oil in naira. Looking More like lip service... Maybe a More fierce protest would shake him up.

PoliticsRe: Tinubu’s Broadcast Speech Shocked Me – Dele Momodu by ceejayluv(m): 11:23pm On Aug 04, 2024
Salewa97:
Dele Momodu needs to chill. Tinubu knows what he’s doing; he’s not a novice in governance. The man has a plan, and sometimes tough love is necessary for real change. Let’s give him time to implement his strategies. After all, Rome wasn’t built in a day!
He's gotta start taking some positive actions as well. Clearly, he didn't have the Will to support local refineries at first. It was after that outcry from Dangote and supporters that he remembered to give an executive order to sell crude to Dangote in naira. .
There should be declarations of emergency on food, which Will go as far as liberating northern farmers from the shackles of bandits and price regulation. Or even the FG taking over the transportation/ distribution of essential food items.
As for power, he was more interested in increasing tariffs without given the discos a firm warning about metering and illegalizing estimated bills.
I know he wants to boost revenue but we deserve to get value for the we extra we pay for.

The long the evidence of Tinubu takes to materialize the more those supporting him will voice out concerns on such action this negates the extremely foolishness of the average Igbo obidient that want Tinubu condemned simply because they lost the election not minding is his action will have a y positive or negative action on the economy n the populace at large.
He waited too Long.... 9 years late.

How about we give Tinubu a chance to prove the naysayers wrong?

Or are they just scared that he will succeed and put their empty promises to shame?
Have we not borne 9 years of economic free fall already?

PoliticsRe: Tinubu Rules Out Return Of Fuel Subsidy, Says Decision Painful But Necessary by ceejayluv(m): 9:22am On Aug 04, 2024
nairalanda1:
Yeah, so? And it has probably lost just as much due to selling under subsidy

The harsh truth is, if you are operating at a loss, all that money is going to be stolen over time or lost via loss making sales. That's how damaging subsidy is. Because free money is coming in and you really do not need to be profitable to make cash, corruption and looting will resukt

Venezuela does subsides..and it's largest refinery produces at less than one ninth the former capacity . Same issue. Is Nnpc.running Venezuela refining?

The long and short is, if nnpc was allowed to operate profitably, that 40 million billion would be well spent.

Dangote can do what he did because the banks know that if he messes up , they can get their money back. Plus since he most likely would sell at a profit , the refinery would work.

Because if it loses money, there would be no government rescue via finances and subsides. So it has to work

Free money is an easy way to sabotage anything..making people work for a profit is a way to ensure stuff works
Oya na, the subsidy has been removed, why the backpedalling in the supply of crude to Dangote?. And why the perennial postponement of the start of operation of Nnpc refineries. The political Will is not there. Tinubu is the Minister of petroleum, I presume. He had to wait till Dangote And Nigerians cried out before he approved the sale of crude to Dangote.
Left for them, we'll keep buying from Malta.
PoliticsRe: Tinubu Rules Out Return Of Fuel Subsidy, Says Decision Painful But Necessary by ceejayluv(m): 9:01am On Aug 04, 2024
nairalanda1:
Because to get the cash needed to repair refineries requires a total removal of fuel subsidy as a first step.

Most of us don't want that, and unless you have the pockets of a dangote, who the banks will lend money to because worst case scenario, they pay themselves back from his other investments via AMCON., you cannot refine fuel at over 1000 a.liter and sell below 700 naira, and have enough for maintenance and upgrade costs

And assuming the status quo remains, dangote would prefer to export.pertol overseas rather than sell it here. And lose money for nothing
Nnpc has spent over $40 billion to overhaul refineries in the past 20 years whereas Dangote built a new One with a larger capacity than the Nnpc 4 combined with $20 billion.
Nnpc and BAT don't want the refineries to work. He should prove us wrong .
PoliticsRe: Tinubu Rules Out Return Of Fuel Subsidy, Says Decision Painful But Necessary by ceejayluv(m): 8:59am On Aug 04, 2024
SmartPolician:
Fuel subsidy cannot return at this time. The way forward is to work on alternatives like CNG. Fuel subsidy was costing this economy so much and oil cartels cashing out with it.
The best alternative is to make the local refineries efficient And support private refineries so as to reduce price And stop importation. But BAT clearly has no political will to do that. He prefers to buy fuel of $2billion yearly from Malta.
PoliticsRe: 10 Things Tinubu Said In Public Broadcast by ceejayluv(m): 8:46am On Aug 04, 2024
