With the situation in Nigeria now, of what essesce will companies like innoson be if they still rely on CBN for forex to import her needed material for local productions? Apparrently, the price of the products here will be contingent on the foreign expenses, hence resulting in higher prices.

Don't you think it will be better if Innoson just limit her production cap to what its raw materials can be gotten from Nigeria? Take for example, If Innoson could produce only car tyres with 90% of the materials from Nigeria for local use and export, that will not only benefit the citizens financially (very cheap), but also be a source of forex for Nigeria. Through the proceeds from the tyre exports, Innoson can then conviniently import stuffs to further enhance her production.

In short, a company that does no generate forex the country but instead rely on forex from other exports to finance her heavy importation expenses is not suppose to be reckon with at this time of insufficient forex.

Can you justify why the car "Toyota Camry" is not named after the radio,tyre,battery or the plug production company?

In a conventional environment, a product is named after the company that produce the engines since other parts are minor. So why should a car be named Innoson Product if the major part (engine) is Toyota, Kia or whatever?

Just shut it. You need real production abi. How many car manufacturers source compone gs from their countries entirely. Even manufacturing giant China sources the bulk of its vehicle engines abroad. Do it for several years and you transfer technology. Innoson is just ten years old and you don't expect them to be producing entirely onshore. It is not his fault that Nigeria has no steel plant, no petrochemical plant and no machine tools manufacturers.

What the government should be doing is to mandate the CBN to prioritise the sale of forex to industries that compliment its strategic developmental objectives and keep a hawkeye thst such funds are not diverted. Apart from petrochemicals and energy, I cannot see what else should get forex before heavy industry of which vehicle assembly is one.

At the bolded, Is that really necessary? One of the many reasons while Nigeria is still so backward.

Onto the main issue, I'm sure you will agree with me that the essence of a country producing is to reduce her foreign dependency and further augument her export proceedes. I doubt if this is the case with Innoson.

Innoson is known to be a company that produce cars apparently for local use -- not for once have i heard that innoson export any product. Now tell me of what relevance will innoson activities be if 90% of her car gadgets are imported from a foreign company?

How can the so called local products financially benefit the local citizens if the company does not export to gain forex but instead purchase forex for car parts importation? How cheap can such product be? What different does if make to buy directly from they company from abroad?


Regarding the priotization of forex sale, i dissent with that. Although it seem relevant to some extent, it is however now the best option at this time. In my opinion, i think the company should consider production of basic car part (if not engines) from the locally available raw materials to export to earn forex for the company to ease the tension on the insufficient forex we get from oil.
