Nigeria is currently enjoying democracy at its best this period, IF THERE WAS NO STRONG OPPOSING POLITICAL PARTY (APC), I CAN BET MY LIFE WITH IT... PDP/GEJ GOVERNMENT WOULD BE WORSE THAN THIS. Pdp has been showing high lack of VISION over the Years especially in South West, Nigeria. COMPARE Ogun under gbenga Daniel (PDP) to Amosun (APC) Oyo under Alao Akala (PDP) to Ajimobi (APC) Osun under Oyinlola (PDP) to Aregbesola (APC).
I think they lack(ed) manifesto/leadership, cos they were so relaxed.. |
Politics › Re: Why Should I Vote For APC In 2015? by chamboy(m): 9:15am On Feb 23, 2015 |
Rawani: First of all, the APC has never contested a Presidential election before now, the party you speak about is the ACN, which merged with other parites like the CPC and ANPP among others, to form the APC in February 2013. That said, it is acknowledged that the principal officers of the ACN at the time are the current promoters of the APC. However the decision regarding Ribadu was actually a strategic one. After a thorough assessment of their candidate's chances, it was agreed that Ribadu would not be able to match either President Goodluck Jonathan or ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). In the North, it was doubtful if Ribadu would be able to pull support that can match Atiku for instance or get the level of acceptance that Buhari currently enjoys. In addition, the plan by the party to go into an alliance with other parties who were coming with presidential aspirants seen as having wider acceptability than Ribadu, also informed this decision.
The APC was formed as a result of the absence of a formidable opposition party which could effectively check the excesses of the ruling party on one hand, and attempt to wrestle power from it on the other. Since politics is a game of numbers, it is politically expedient to present candidates that have enough voter support to achieve one of the fundamental aims of the party which is to wrestle power from a humongous party such as the PDP (that has in fact boasted of retaining the presidency for 60 years) which has ruled for 16 years of our national existence, the entire 4th republic. General Buhari, while possessing the qualities to deliver Nigeria from its quagmire of corruption and insecurity among others, possesses the followership and acceptability to ensure that the party achieves one of its fundamental aims. The most important thing is the manifesto of the party (http://apc.com.ng/index.php/about-apc/apc-manifesto) which will be religiously adhered to by whichever candidate that runs on the party's ticket.
You will agree with me that the instrumentality for fighting the insurgency lies with our Armed Forces, which are commanded and controlled by the C-in-C (President Jonathan) and the Military authorities, also appointed and administered by the President. Therefore i'm at a loss as to what you expect from the APC. What you term as criticism, is actually what keeps the ruling party on its toes as loopholes are identified and pointed out, albeit in a castigating manner, underlining its role as an opposition party. The same obtains in more matured democracies like the U.S, where the democrats relentlessly criticised President Bush for his war in Iraq. With regard to unguarded statements, while mot are outbursts of emotion which could be excused, none can be worse than that of the PDP's Lawal Kaita who pledged that the country would be made ungovernable.
Again I re-iterate that members and candidates of the APC are guided by the manifesto of the party. Whatever shenanigans they were up to in the PDP occurs only because the party and the system tolerates it. When last have you heard of any PDP manifesto? Guiding principle? Ideology? None. It is therefore not surprising that all kinds of nonsense is allowed to fester there. Members of the APC are forced to imbibe the discipline inherent in the party and adopt its progressive ideology, and the party's internal democratic principles (as was evident during the primaries) as internal control measures ensure that members are consistently kept in line.
As a change Agent, APC intend to cleanse our closet to halt the dangerous drift of Nigeria to a failed state; with a conscious plan for post-oil-economy in Nigeria. To achieve this laudable programme APC government shall restructure the country, devolve power to the units, with the best practices of federalism and eliminate unintended paralysis of the center.
In sum, we subscribe to and shall preserve the fundamental objectives and directive principles of state policy as enshrined in chapter two of the 1999 constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria as amended, and without any intention to abandon any ideal which will guarantee the corporate welfare and security of our people. We specifically offer these 7 (seven) cardinal programmes:- (WBA-IFD) to the Nigeria populace.

Politics › Re: Why Should I Vote For APC In 2015? by chamboy(m): 9:07am On Feb 23, 2015 |
ayox2003: Its just like asking why you should vote the Democratic party over the Republican party in the US? Who cares? For the records, more politicians have crossed from the Democrats to GOP and vice-versa than any two party in history.
What a lot of you posters here don't know is that at the birth of democracy, history has shown that a lot of politicians cross - carpet until each party forms an unspoken ideology.
There was the Federalist Party, Jeffersonian Party, National Republican Party, Whig Party - all these won presidential elections way before the formation of the Democrats & GOP that we now have in the US. So if our 16year old democracy can give us 2 strong political parties to choose from, and I've experienced one for those years with little to show for it, why not give the other a try?
I believe alot of you here are cheapstakes, easy to buy, one dime a dozen, that you flip as soon as PDP throws bone at you. So I won't be surprised if the OP becomes the latest mongrel.

Esdb3: I am a PDP or let me say GEJ supporter. The issue is that and for all gej supporters too, nobody likes Jonathan nope not at all. We are not insane now.
We don't like the way he is leading the country or the way everything has been going on. But what all Apc people have not realised is that we only choose to support Jonathan because we can't accept the fact that a former head of state from over 18 years ago is aiming to become our president.
Some people like myself can even accept buhari but then again look at the thieves surrounding him. Even if he means well tinubu(ex-governor that owns an hotel as big as oriental), saraki(the richest governor in a poor state), atiku and others will not let him put the country first.
They also wreak of the islamic agenda, how will they have all their key members as muslims even up to the youth leader! Ha ha! And I know some will say "Osbanjo" is a christian. Please get the video of tunde bakare revealing how they wanted him to resign as vp if cpc had won the election four years ago.
You see?! Get us a better candidate, someone like yaradua or a christian and you will se GET's support boot as empty as a just laid house foundation. Op can u allow me address this issues for u |
