We shall see Sharon - but it will be foolhardy for you not to realise that there was a BIG chance missed tonight.

Two weeks from now, you could have worse injuries - who knows? Only play in the present - you lost your chance to win today and it MIGHT cost you at OT. That's the reality of the matter, especially since Inter don't even have to win. A score draw would do for them.
No one is disputing that - but you also need to realise that we were playing away from home.
The same way you could go to Rome and lose. undecided undecided undecided

reh reh reh, when Inter eliminate you, I will be here to gloat.

Win 100 Carling Cups if you like, it is not even as high as the Emiraati Cup to me.  cheesy Let Tottenham win, like last season, they will get worse afterwards - any worse than they currently are = relegation, not a bad thing if you ask me.  grin grin

Whether 9 years ago or 1 week ago - it happened, we heard this same overconfident braganonsense and you got stuffed at home.  grin

Inter may be better, but you can only beat who you face and we did our jobs thank you. Focus your angst and frustration at your blank shooting Scumtwat players.  tongue

It's always about the goals.  .  .check the rule book again. That's the aim of soccer grin If you and your opponent are goalless, then you are on the same level. Why did you come to play in the first place? To win, to get ahead, to get a leg up. Being satisfied at par with your opponent is just not good enough. Then next game you start hustling to score by all means 'cause you flunked the first one. Why do things in a rush when you can do them calmly and more effectively?
Yes it's all about goals but in this scenario, it's a two legged game. If you don't score in the first leg, you can always score on the next.
We were playing Inter, one of the top seeds not teams like Arsenal grin, Panathinakos, Porto etc. We were also playing AWAY!
Why did we go to Nou Camp last season to defend and play for a draw? Cuzz 2nd leg was at home.
Are you saying Fergie doesn't know what he's doing? cheesy cheesy

The job was partly done but not finished. It's up to the boys now to finish the job at OT.

What sort of crude analysis is this dude? grin

How can your tactics be spot on when you didnt get the result you wanted? grin

Where you there when Fergie said, i wanna play a lone man in the mould of Berba upfront, hanging about and getting in defender's faces?

Looks like u know berra than Fergie tongue grin

Fall back bruv, u got it wrong
!! cheesy grin
What do you know? grin grin grin grin We are not drinking pammy here o. cheesy

@ Criz

I understand what u're saying but you can't make a change at 47min like you said.
There was no reason to force the game.
Why didn't Fergie start Rooney? It's obviusly cuzz of the way he wanted to play.
If the game was at OT and we had to play a lone striker, Rooney woulda started.
Berba started so he could hold the ball up front.
I'm not against subs but there's no need to do it EARLY if the team is doing good.

Fergie knows BEST! grin grin grin

@Chamo
Dearie 'okay' is not what we want.  .  .we want 'great'. 'Okay' has left us with a 0 - 0 score line when we coulda been like 2 goals up. If you don't get out of your comfort zone sometimes, you don't win big. 'Okay' with no goals is.  .  .

Look at the way Rooney's been since he came on.  .  .no guarantees yeah, but with more time spent pressing in the right manner,Cesar and his defense woulda given way. We spent too much precious time doing the same thing that was giving us the same nil result.
Did Rooney coming on make our defense any weaker? Nope. It woulda been the same thing if he had come on in the 47th minute.

Anywayz, game over. 0 - 0 not the best result, but not bad at all. Have to burn 'em up @ OT.
We did better than 'okay' actually. It was a good performance. Overall we played better than them.
We had the chances to score but we didn't take it, that's not because the tactic was wrong. We could have been 3 up at half-time.
The strategy was to leave a BIG man up there which was BERBA. Our tactics were spot on, we just didn't take our chances.
Rooney coming on didn't make our defence weaker but meant we would have sacrificed a midfield player. Now there's nothing wrong with that but you can't do that early like you wanted. The boy coulda seen a Red aswell.

The negative thing was we didn't take our chances. 0-0 at the San Siro is not a bad result. Fergie woulda taken that before the game.
Same thing happened at Nou Camp last year. CL is a lil different than what you think. Inter was supposed to be the fav for the game.

All in all, if we had taken our chnces in the first half, all these wouldn't have happened.

I understand your logic.  .  .don't chase until you need to.

But,chasing doesn't always mean you're gon' get scored against. So if Inter score in the 90th minute, what's there to chase? That's just my point. Why leave things till the last minute before trying to rectify lapses 'cause you're playing away?

Park off for Rooney. Don't understand why Park should be the one to go off though.
True, it doesn't mean u're going to get scored. But changing doesn't guarantee anything either.
Every one was doing okay.
Park coming off was prolly as a result of tiredness.

I hear you. I'm just not one to leave things till the situ becomes dire before doing what's needed. But what's the harm in bringing Rooney on? Or Scholes?
Question: If Inter get a goal now, would you still advise leaving things as they are?
Yes If Inter get a goal, then we can change things cuzz then we need to chase.
Chasing a game leaves holes at the back. It's risky.
Sooner or later, Rooney should come in.

Gosh, Inter is based in our half now.

@Chamo
Why should we lose discipline and shape? Will the sub be from Pompey? grin I'm not saying the entire game plan should change, just slightly adjusted. The way things are now, they'll stay that way till the 93rd minute!!
When you are playing away from home in the CL. Emphasis on "away". It's disastrous to try and chase the game.
We are both saying the same thing. I'm just saying you wanted the change to early.
You were already complaining about subs at half-time when the team was doing okay.

You shouldn't chase the game if u don't have to.

Cristalz:
You see? Ibrahimovic just might've scored that.
Just because they are close to scoring doesn't mean we need to change things.
Inter were bound to come good anytime soon. They are playing at home. You don't expect to dominate for the whole game.
What if we change things and then concede a goal or lose our discipline and shape. That's the risk.

I've got a coaching badge you know. FA Level 1.  grin

When you're playing well without results what's the point? Something's gotta give up front and if another player is most likely to make that happen,I think he should be brought in.
Else we'll play wonderfully and go home empty.
Exactly, even Fergie would tell u you shouldn't change a tactic that is working unless it needs changing like tired players or a even better tectic in general.
So far in this game, there's no need to change anything so far. That is what I'm saying cuzz u said Fergie needs to make subs quickly.

Ref's okay, obviously not going to take any bullshit from any side.

End of 1st half.  .  .Fergie needs to make subs fast, not his usual 75th minute schitzo.
Criz relax, there is no need for subs right now when the team is playing well.
