To be honest, I don't think there's nothing wrong with the chores the kids are doing.
As long as they are done at the right time and not unnecessary. It's not advisable forcing kids to do chores just for the sake of doing it.
Like some people had already mentioned, doing it at 5pm is not the best for the kids. They should rest and chill for some time.
