That was a good performance, in short our best performance at Old Trafford in a while.
We pressed high up from the start and controlled that midfield...something we haven't done in a while.
We wasted some good chances though...but this was a very professional performance.
If not for Buttner that ruined our lean sheet.
Hope we can keep it together during these busy periods.
The boys deserve credit for this.

rafael - smalling - evans - evra
rafael - jones - evans - evra
rafael - smalling - jones - evra

those combo should be our back four from now henceforth. any attempt to include rio/vidic is shooting ourselves in the foot.

in the midfield & attack, let players play in their natural positions. no more make-shifts & we would dance into the top four by new year.

Jones and Evans for me

Cool line-up, with Jones as our 4, it really makes sense, am quite sure he will get the much needed dirty job done. We should win this one. Buh where is Rooney? Resting in Moyes' bosoms??

Only 60 teams will be allowed to participate in next year's Nairaland Premier League.
Which means top 50 will keep their place and 10 teams promoted from the Championship.

In the cups, 4 teams will get relegated whilst 4 teams plus winner gets promoted If winner not in top 4, which means it could end up being 5 teams getting relegated.

I think this is fair enough.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by chamotex(m): 9:39pm On Dec 10, 2013
We are very useless without the ball, its so glaring.

elampiro: It is easy to say RVP is a better finisher when Rooney plays behind him. Had Rooney had his kind playing behind him when he leads, his finishing will be far more clinical.

At the start of 2012/13 season, Rooney was the leading EPL scorer over 5 seasons ahead of RVP and Drogna. He was number 10 while Drogba and RVP were 9. Ordinarily a natural 9 should have more goals, but Rooney beat them both.

Yes because it is not rocket science grin
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by chamotex(m): 2:30pm On Dec 09, 2013
elampiro:

RVP won't do well in a 3 striking formation as we had in 2008.

Ronaldo, Rooney and Tevez were coming from the midfield, running zig zagly to tear defense apart. RVP is a box player. Ashley Young is the only other player who could play like that because it also requires running at defence with his high speed.

Why won't he do well? This is fallacy.
Berbatov was part of them when it worked. The main key here is the fluidity of the two inverted forwards.
Mind you VP started as a wing/forward at Arsenal until a few years ago.

I gave that as an idea, we don't have to play exactly that way. It's all about flexibility, they will all have their primary roles but still be able to inter change positions occasionally when needed

When Southampton play Osvaldo, Lambert and Jay Rodriguez, they all interchange very well with the width coming from both full backs. They are very solid in the middle of the park.

Go and watch Everton at the Emirates again and see how they did it in the first half especially.

You guys just come here and say it won't work as if we've tried it a I you be TB ?Joshua?
We should just keep trying the same thing all over again and just expect different results.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by chamotex(m): 2:04pm On Dec 09, 2013
We need Rooney in our team...but my point all along has always been where he plays.
We can't play a 4-4-2 formation with our midfielders.
Our best option is to solidify our CM by playing 3 CM's.
Let him and vP fight it out for the main striker which won't happen cos VP is a better finisher
And my stance still remains that Wayne can do a job on the wing, as an inverted winger/forward with freedom of flexibility with whoever gets the other wing position (this can't be Valencia by the way).

It worked when we had the holy trinity. We were more fluid and they all interchanged pretty well.

elampiro:

It is you who said this, for the second time now.

However, when some guys here were blaming his work rate and said we can't get 3 points unless RVP is involved, you were silent. Now I know where your allegiance lies. Now RVP returned and we lacked creativity and work rate. Had Rooney played it would have been pages upon pages how he was either too far or too close to RVP, how he doesn't have the brain for the hole, how he didn't make the perfect pass for RVP. I have said the two strikers need each other.

Lamentation.
Answer the question...we lost because Rooney didn't play?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by chamotex(m): 11:23am On Dec 09, 2013
RuuDie: For me, first step towards "recovery" - by this i mean playing in a bit better fashion than we have so far - is getting Rooney out wide to that left wing, by hook or by crook!

The number of times we shift the ball to the right at every given opportunity is becoming an eyesore... expecially given that it is usually AV25 that is there.

Anyhow sha... I still refuse not to BELIEVE!

That is not going to happen, not under Moyes.
You want elampiro to shoot you?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by chamotex(m): 12:52am On Dec 09, 2013
elampiro:

The reason why we were able to break was that he went deep to help rescue the ball or start those moves. Most times he arrived again to get the ball in the box, some other times Welbeck or another player went in for him. You saw the Welbeck penalty. You saw those goals against Leverkusen, like when he picked Valencia in the box. Rooney cannot be like RVP or Nilstelrooy or Chicha.

Now, look at our Newcastle match. Newcastle were not really great on the day, but there was no play maker as RVP and Chicha had too few touches of the ball.
They were waiting for Nani and Janujaz who are so individualistic to work some miracles and get the ball to them in the box. At the end no quality ball came.

Some would argue that RVP was not fully fit. But no one gave Rooney that excuse when he was hurried in to start the season, and when he had a deep cut on his head. He didn't make us believe he was carrying some injuries.

During Ronaldo, Rooney and Tevez, we didnt have an in box striker. It musnt always be so. Suarez and Aguero don't stay in the box.

So in other words we lost because Rooney didn't play
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by chamotex(m): 12:20am On Dec 09, 2013
superstar1: My formation would have been

Any back four

Carrick
Nani /valencia. Kagawa/Ando Januzaj

Rooney. Ozil

RVP

We should be giving teams defensive worries and not the other way round.

If we need to defend, pull out kagawa or Januzaj and bring in Jones or Fellaini to partner with carrick and ozil drops backward a little.

Baba which kind formation be this?
Look at what ?Moyes is doing to my people grin
