In UK for instance a murder trial is one year.some lesser crimes is six months, minor offences (traffic offences)are two weeks. Nothing can change it. Both investigation and trial date is set immediately a defendant is charged to court.If police don't have enough evidence they cannot charge the suspect Imagine six years awaiting trial.Sometimes ago I learnt some ENDSARS protesters were also languishing in detention.
