The Gerontological Society of China on Tuesday revealed that 58,789 centenarians (a century equals 100 years) are living in China and the oldest was 128 years. “Three quarters of the long-lived are women and most of them are living in the countryside,” the society said. The report says provinces with the most centenarians are south China’s Hainan and Guangxi and central China’s Anhui, where the environment is good and the economy is moderately developed. The society found that most of the centenarians enjoyed outdoor activities, were willing to communicate with others and maintained a healthy diet. Chinese people who are aged 60 will be over 202 million by the end of 2014, or nearly 15 per cent of the total population, the report adds. My conclusion is that bad economy is a contributing factor to Nigeria's low life expectancy. In the new World Health Statistics 2014 report published by the World Health Organisation (WHO), the world was said to have witnessed major gains in life expectancy in recent decades. The report revealed that Nigerians’ life expectancy that stood at 46 years in 1990 rose to 54 years in 2012. A major highlight of the report is that women live longer than men in Nigeria. Their life expectancy rose from 47 years in 1990 to 55 years in 2012, while Nigerian men that could be expected to live up to 45 years in 1990, had life expectancy of 53 years in 2012. The report further observed that low-income countries made the most significant progress, with an increase of nine years in life expectancy between 1990 and 2012, from 51.2 to 60.2 years for men, and 54.0 to 63.1 years for women. shumoh:OP two things are on your mind one, should i continue as a professional in my field where my job is more secured in a federal parastatal that pays me less Or Two,should I go into this unknown field due my adventurous nature and earn more pay despite the fact that i may be required to meet and surpass targets and there might not be any thing as job security? Choose between fulfilment and adventure. In considering your options also think about this which job will make me achieve my dreams faster? Which job will help me to be a better citizen? What do i really love to do money or no money? What is my passion? Wish you God's best. |

Donfamous:If you are in lagos just send me a nairaland email the correction fee is 10k if it is gce you can only get it done at waec office but school exam i.e May/June will only be through the school you did the exam. Best regards |
Donfamous:use the original backed up with an affidavit. If you have written a letter for correction also include it so dat when you are graduating the parameters will be the same. |
Corrections pertaining date of birth is a constant problem as regards Waec certificates. However, the solution is in two ways One,Exams written in schools during may/June can be corrected by writing for correction through the school you registered for the exam with a correction fee of #10,000. Two,if it was GCE that is private candidate.the correction can only be effected through waec offices you collected it from.Same amount for correction fee backed with affidavits or original birth certificates. Please never you patronize tout. Waec will never ask you for extra money apart from the normal fees. I wish you well |

Lagos state declared today October 15th as Horn free day to check the menace of noise pollution in the state. On my way to work in Yaba this morning a man was arguing on the top of his voice because horn prevents a lot of accidents as a result 'no horn more accidents'. Going through the Lagos metropolis i observed that from Ojo to iyana Ipaja a lot of people complied but for people in Agege area it was business as usual. At Ikeja to Oshodi too it was low compliance. All these are my personal observations though and is subject to critisms. How is it in your area? |
Nice thread.OP this is innovative. No be all these types of - - threads like JAMB question types. |
Funjosh:Thanks bro You are either a churchgoer or a Christian.Christianity is a way of life. The early believers never called themselves Christians. The people of Antioch called them Christians because they saw them behave like Christ.Christianity is a way of life that depicts christlike conduct. The endtime churchgoers have made people mock our faith. |
SIRANT:For it to be most useful towards your finals or during your NYSC.By then you would have majored in a particular area of your course. |

Tech giant, Google, on Wednesday shut down the blog of celebrated blogger, Linda Ikeji, following widespread allegations of copyright infringement and plagiarism levelled against her. When contacted, Google’s Manager for Communications and Public Affairs, Anglo-Phone West Africa, Taiwo Kolade-Ogunlade, said he was not in the best position to speak on the specifics of the development. He, however, noted that Google takes the issue of copyright seriously, adding that the company belongs to a group of Internet firms that abides by the provisions of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act and other applicable copyright laws. According to Kolade-Ogunlade, to respect the rights of copyright holders, Google clearly spells out how users of its products and services can get permission to use someone else’s intellectual property such as text, songs, images and footages. The search giant, he added, was no respecter of anybody when it came to the issues of copyright infringement, adding that “copyright is a big deal.” “Google as an organisation takes issues of copyright seriously and belongs to a group of digital companies that respect copyrights. “Copyright is a big deal and this is why you can’t just go and pick up another person’s intellectual property or content and lay claim to its ownership. “That is why we have copyright guidance. I don’t know if Linda picked up any content and I don’t know what content is the bone of contention-neither have I looked into the complaints personally. “But it is not a case of witch-hunting and has nothing to do with Linda Ikeji’s personality or anyone else because there is a process, and irrespective of who you are in the world, that process would apply to you,” Kolade-Ogunlade explained. According to the Google spokesman, it has become imperative for online entrepreneurs to respect the rights of copyright holders noting that the Internet community should be built on mutual trust and general respect. “Let’s respect other people’s rights and intellectual property. Making money off other people’s content without permission is wrong. Although the Internet is inanimate, it is the content on it that gives it life. These are the issues. “Whenever owners of online contents come after you accusing you of using their content, it is because they have families to feed and businesses to sustain. “People should also understand that copyrights does not only apply to text, but also extends to literary works, images and photographs, music files and MP3s, movies, movie trailers and videos as well as software,” Kolade-Ogunlade added. Online entrepreneurs, including Mr. Aye Dee, Editor-in-Chief of United States-based 15Past8 media group, had reported Linda Ikeji to Google, accusing her of copyright infringement. Initially, Google responded by taking down some of the controversial content on Linda Ikeji’blog before the latest crackdown. “Google just notified us that they are removing our copyrighted content from Linda Ikeji’s website. All the stories and images Linda Ikeji took from me without permission in the last few days have been removed from her site by Google,” Aye Dee had tweeted, following his complaint to Google. Stating that he employed the use of a DMCA takedown request to Google, he lamented, “Someone has to say something. It costs money to get good work done. I spend time getting information from my sources, as well as analysing and verifying the information. All that costs money. I don’t mind donating my time for Nigeria’s sake, but for someone to take my labour and use it for personal profit, no way!” But writing on her blog before it was taken down, Linda said she is a target of attacks because of her success. “The only reason this is happening to me is because I’m number one. So I am flattered. I am currently number 10 on Alexa.com. My blog is more read than all the other news sites in Nigeria, so I understand why I am the target,” she wrote days before the blog was yanked off. Source:www. punchng.com |
The Textbook lecturers: he rarely teaches for ten minutes without referring to his textbook which most times is the key to success in the course.photocopy it and carry over the RETARDED lecturers:this ones hardly teach you tangible things.they give you assignments and project when they have papers or seminars to present.they rely on students brains to excel.they can compile solution to assignments into textbooks. |

OP,i am impressed at your desire to have a bright future when many of your peers are carried away with temporary inconsequentials. However due to proliferation of road side computer engineers e.g computer village and alaba international it becomes less lucrative to study this course at present. My candid advise is what is worth doing at all is worth doing well it therefore means that you should look inward to fields like INformation Technology a hybrid course in a bid to better your chances of being established or employed. You need trainings and certifications like CCNA,MCSE etc. You can also start making enquiries at computer sales and services firms for ur Industrial attachment.I wish you well |
