Reportedly costing $63 billion, Beijing Daxing International Airport (PKX) opened on 25 September.

The opening ceremony, attended by President Xi Jinping, came just days before the country marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China with its National Day on 1 October. This is the world's biggest airport.

Nicknamed the “starfish” and designed by the architecture team of the late Zaha Hadid, the terminal building alone covers 700,000 sq m. It’s expected to become one of the world’s busiest airports, initially handling up to 45 million passengers per year and 100 million after further expansion. This is intended to relieve congestion at the capital’s one existing airport.

Zaha Hadid Architects say the futuristic design is inspired by principles of traditional Chinese architecture, in which interconnected spaces are organized around a central courtyard. In this case, the farthest boarding gate is less than an eight-minute walk from the security checkpoint. At Beijing's new airport, the farthest gate is an eight-minute walk from the security checkpoint.

The terminal was built with renewable energy in mind. Solar panels are installed throughout the airport to provide a minimum capacity of at least 10MW. Heating is provided by both a ground-source heat pump and waste heat recovery.

The architects explain the airport also collects rainwater and its water management system “employs the natural storage, natural permeation and natural purification of up to 2.8 million cubic meters of water in new wetlands, lakes and streams to prevent flooding and counter the summer ‘heat island’ effect on the local microclimate.”

Zaha Hadid Architects created the futuristic design

China is set to overtake the US as the world’s largest aviation market by 2030, according to the International Air Transport Association (IATA) – fuelled by a growing, more affluent middle class.

Daxing is just one of 74 airports planned by the Civil Aviation Administration of China, to make a total of 260 by 2020.

Qatar National Day celebrations(Arabic: اليوم الوطني لقطر‎; Al-Yawm al-Waṭani li-Qaṭar)

[img][/img]

It is a national commemoration of Qatar's unification in 1878. It is celebrated annually on 18 December. The holiday was established by a 21 June 2007 decree of the then Crown Prince and Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. It is also known as Founder's Day.

The holiday is annually celebrated on 18 December. It is a national holiday and most of the public are given the day off from school and work. Prior to the Emiri decree in June 2007, Qatar National Day was annually celebrated on 3 September, the day of Qatar's independence

[img][/img]

What event takes place on takes place on the national day celebration?

Several activities are organized during the week of observance. These include;

Fireworks show: Includes music, lights and fireworks

Katara National Day celebrations: Festivities and over 20 heritage-themed events are held at Katara Cultural Village

National Day parade: Members of the general public parade through the Doha Corniche. Officials from the Armed forces, ISF, Ministry of Interior, and Amiri Guard also participate in the parade

Classic car show: Antique cars formerly owned by government officials are showcased.
[img][/img]

Why do Qatar observe the national day celebration?

On 18 December 1878, Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani succeeded his father Mohammed bin Thani as ruler of the Qatari Peninsula. He is deemed to have unified all the local tribes by combating external forces, such as the British. He also earned a considerable degree of autonomy for the tribes of the peninsula.

The holiday has been instrumental in developing a sense of national identity among locals and expats. It has also helped improve knowledge and appreciation of Qatar's heritage

So happy national day celebration to all the people of Qatar

Going to hustle in Dubai comes with a lot of challenges. Be careful about where you house yourself. UAE is a land of bedbugs cheesy grin

After three months of unsuccessful frantic effort to land a job in UAE, I returned to Nigeria with a load of bed bugs and their eggs hiding in every sewing edges of my suitcase without me knowing. Can you imagine bringing bedbugs on a plane with you? I declared a total war on my bedbug infested suitcase the very day I landed. The room where I stayed for the whole three months was an overcrowded room with a lot of double decker beds like a hostel with all their mattresses laden with bed bugs hiding in them.

Although my visit to Dubai was never a waste because it eventually served as a travel experience for me in getting my US visa.

Be warned!!!
how can one get a US visa

I have since come to understand we need to take the spin and propaganda coming from gov't with a truckload of salt!

All the tangible content we had from Rochas in 8 years....where has it left Imo State today? Honestly, besides a few public buildings he put up in Owerri, i can't see any lasting legacy and economic enablers to point to as gains of a 8 year Rochas admin'!

I'm still giving Ihedioha the benefit of the doubt....Rochas left a lot of debt, unpaid salaries/pensions/gratuities, and decrepit/non-existent critical infrastructure for him as a welcoming gift! My patience would run out if, in a years time from his swearing in as governor, we don't start seeing things on ground!
I pray he make a mark

All I want is a better Imo State

The link above is a testament that the present government is taking steps to open up other smaller towns to the public. He recently bypassed the various hotels and event centres in owerri and went down to Crystal lake resort Oguta to host the retreat for the expanded executives.

But i guess since its not your precious Orlu this would make no sense to you.

Don't judge Ihedioha with the dryness of this forum. Abagworo, who always updated this thread, is a Rochas' apologist, and he's still angry that his stooge lost the guber election.

There's a regime change now. Abagworo's time belongs the history books. The trending guy is Aic Akwarandu, the governor's aide on new media, I suppose.

Follow him on Facebook as he films and uploads daily activities of the state governor. However, most of his projects are still at foundational level and will take time to be completed.

Yes, a lot is happening in Imo State just that Nairaland is no longer the right platform for getting the latest gist as it drops.
I'm not judging him by the forum but what's on ground

Nothing new is happening in the state

It saddens Me on how Imo State had remained stagnant since the inception of ihedioha. You can even tell by how this forum no longer have tangible content to build the forum.

Ihedioha might end up making Rochas a Saint

This question have being popping up here and there in the internet and also on a reality bases. So many people wants to know the right age gap for lovers before they could consider marriage, so many men would say I won’t marry a lady who is my senior, some would say I won’t marry a lady if I’m not 5 years older than her or there about.
Same goes to ladies, they would tell you that if a guy is younger then them, that is a No! No! No! For them in terms of marriage while some prefer being older than their man

If I should have a proper say on this, I would say that age shouldn’t be a yard stick when considering marriage though it may matter that’s about 5% but not to an extent of canceling a marital union.

The major ingredient to consider when talking about marriage is love, compassion and sacrifice and if this things are not found between two partners then no marriage should be discussed. Marriage is a life time or should I say a long term relationship that should be considered and scrutinized carefully and age is not within this category.

Marriage can be perfectly discribed as a love affair and not an age affair. Remember the popular saying that “Age is just a number”. If I’m to modify this saying into marital terms, I would say, in marriage age is just a number but love matters.

In our today Nigeria, there are so many popular celebrities and showbiz personalities who proved to us that age is just a number and not a barrier to marriage.

Below are the list of top 3 celebrities who married older women/younger men....... Continue reading >> http://charlesdonaldfreeman.com.ng/is-age-and-important-factor-in-marriage/
LiteratureA Message To My Mother (short Story) by Charlesdonald(op): 4:40pm On Mar 20, 2019
Dear Emeka

I write to you with a heart full of joy and happiness that on this day I can get hold of breath and send this letter of roses in thorns to you.

I want you to sent this same message of hope to my mother, I should have done this directly to her but I want you to bear the burden for me and let her see only the joy.

Tell mum that I’m fine and I love her from my heart and soul, nothing on earth can make me forget her cries and suffering just to see me through. My going to London wouldn’t have been possible without her

Her efforts brought me here. Tell her that I sent my gratitude to her for selling all her hollandaise wrapper, jewelries and even the small piece of land papa left for us before he died just to push me out for a greener pasture here in London.

Tell her that I cannot forget all the money she borrowed from her village meeting and friends that was swindled by scammers at her first attempt to send me here.

For all the love she gave me, I say; I don’t mind dying just to make her happy. If it warrant going to the moon to make her happy, then she should see me dangling in the sun already.

Emeka tell her that I sent about 10,000 dollars to her through western union and also help her get it out. Tell her to use the money to pay for all the dept and also make sure that my little siblings are back to school.

Tell her to look for a comfortable apartment in the island or perhaps help her look for it. When you see one, pay for it because I will be sending 15,000 dollars by next month.

Tell her not to worry about me, tell her that where I am now there is no phone since we are foreigners, that we aren’t allowed to use phones and wouldn’t want to stress her in trying to get my mails, I will still be sending it to you, Emeka but as for money, I would send directly.

Tell her I love her and I miss the family but please don’t tell her I’m in jail.

Are you in Lagos?

Or do you plan visiting someday?

And your intention is to come and buy one or two things at Alaba international market.
If yes, then this write up is for you. I would be using this write up to discuss a very crucial matter or method you can loose all your fortune to hoodlums at the market at the expense of your kindness or beign an observer.

Now this is the perfect way some criminals get a life time fortune at the market without taking much risk and they gathering their fortune in a very big way.

Theu use what I called the fighting method. How this method works is that two people will just start a fight with people not really knowing the reason of the fight. The fight would be so brutal so as to look real and at this juncture, they had already drown crowd to themselve, this crowd of people consist of people who want to know what really cause the problem, those who just want to watch the wrestle menia and finally the discharger.

You as an innocent observer will definitely fall in one of those first two crowd categories, while the ‘discharger’s’ duty is to be going round the crowd when the fight had become tough and the observers has lost there concentration and mind to the fight, discharging their phones, money, wallet as fast as possible.
Note: the dischargers will be the ones shouting “hold your pocket ooh” “hold your pocket ooh”.
The reason for this is that it will make the observers see them as good people and feel safe around then.

Once the discharger is through discharging the observers, he signals the fighters while acting to be separating them, that his through and suddenly they would agree to be separated and they path ways to maybe a know meeting point

Note that if you want to loose your entire fortune and even destiny join, just try to move from and observer to separator and you will see even your bank account empty because this guy’s will be dragging your bag, purse, pocket all in the name they are fighting.

So if you really want to be safe walk away when you see people fighting, but sometimes people could be fighting for a true, so if you must observe or separate the fighting generals, please make sure your items and money are well secured and always remain vigilant
