Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari, on Monday, in Abuja, approved the constitution of an Economic Advisory Council (EAC), Igbere TV reports.

A statement obtained by Igbere TV issued by Buhari’s Spokesman, Femi Adesina, said the council will replace the current Economic Management Team (EMT) and will be reporting directly to the President.

Igbere TV recalls that the now disbanded EMT had Vice President Yemi Osinbajo as chairman, who presides over the weekly meetings and receive reports from it directly. With the latest development, Osinbajo will no longer be in charge but Buhari. Applauds mr president ✌️

“The Economic Advisory Council (EAC) will advise the President on economic policy matters, including fiscal analysis, economic growth and a range of internal and global economic issues working with the relevant cabinet members and heads of monetary and fiscal agencies.

“The EAC will have monthly technical sessions as well as scheduled quarterly meetings with the President. The Chairman may, however, request for unscheduled meetings if the need arises”, the statement issued by Adesina added.

The statement listed the following names as members of the newly constituted Council:

1. Prof. Doyin Salami – Chairman

2. Dr. Mohammed Sagagi – Vice-Chairman

3. Prof. Ode Ojowu – Member

4. Dr. Shehu Yahaya – Member

5. Dr. Iyabo Masha – Member

6. Prof. Chukwuma Soludo – Member

7. Mr. Bismark Rewane – Member

8. Dr. Mohammed Adaya Salisu – Secretary (Senior Special Assistant to the President, Development Policy)

The question you should ask is: do South Easterners respect their traditional rulers the way other regions respect their traditional rulers?

It's here on Nairaland that I saw the worst insults ever heaped on a traditional ruler being heaped on the Obi of Onitsha simply because he cautioned Ipob members.

If you treat your traditional rulers like rags, others would help you wipe the floor with them. Just look at Ihedioha greeting an Igbo traditional ruler as if he's greeting someone owing him money.

Two persons died while four sustained injuries when a 20-feet container fell on two tricycles in Onitsha, Anambra State.

The incident occurred on the Obodoukwu road junction of Upper Iweka area of the commercial city of the state.

The Nation gathered that the injured persons in critical conditions were rushed to various hospitals for medical attention.

Vehicular movement on both sides of the Onitsha-Owerri road was halted following presence of towing vehicles belonging to the Police, FRSC and other relevant agencies involved in the rescue operations.

Eye witnesses said the 20ft container slipped off from the 4ft trailer while in motion.

When our correspondent visited the scene, some of the victims were yet to be rescued as the container was heavy for two large towing lorries brought to lift it from the trapped tricycles.

The surviving victims were later rescued through the assistance of policemen from the Okpoko Divisional Police Station, officials of the FRSC and Anambra State Traffic Management Agency (ASTMA) in conjunction with the ambulance workers of the Toronto hospital.

Confirming the incident, Police Public Relations Officer in the State, Haruna Mohammed, said two persons lost their lives while four others had been hospitalised.

He said the area has since been cordoned off while the road had been cleared for free flow of vehicular movement.
