A complete Hybrid System

Source of Power
• Solar Array
• PHCN
• Fuel Generator

PropertiesIf You Are Building A House And You Want To Incorporate Solar Energy, Read This by Charpell(op):
Hello my name is Charpell and i am a Solar Energy Consultant.

As electricity bills and price of fuel increase around the country, solar panels are increasingly being installed by homeowners wishing to take advantage of a system that produces greener energy and insulates them from rising energy prices.

If you are building your house and you have not factored solar energy into your budget then you need to go back to your drawing board. No one can run away from electricity needs, because it drives the economy. Only smart individuals understand that they can spend less on solar energy in the long run than using fossil generators.

Solar energy needs no introduction, with the abundance of sun in Nigeria; we still are not harnessing the energy. With the current price of fuel, every smart individual knows that solar energy is the way forward.
The major challenge of solar energy in Nigeria is the cost but what people have failed to factor is that these system has a life span of 25-30 years. It has no moving parts, it needs no maintenance.

When building a new home, you have the opportunity to build it right from the get-go, saving yourself thousands of naira in utility bills over the decades (as well as offsetting the associated fossil fuel emissions).

High efficiency appliances make the most of the energy they consume. Electricity is appealing because you can generate it for free with solar panels on your roof.

However, the amount of electricity generated at a particular site depends on how much of the sun's energy reaches it. Thus, PV systems function most efficiently in the northern part of the country, which receives the greatest amount of solar energy.
Before selecting system components and sizing a PV system for an existing home, you should evaluate your energy consumption patterns and try to reduce your home's electricity use. You can start by performing a load analysis with the help of a good installer.

By understanding your "energy habits" and becoming more energy efficient, you can reduce the size of the PV system you'll need, lowering both your capital and operating costs.
If you're designing a new home, you should work with the builder and the solar professional to incorporate your PV system into your whole-house system design -- an approach for building an energy-efficient home.

There are 3 types of Solar Energy Installation

1 Back-Up System
This is the cheapest form of Renewable energy. Back-Up Installation are essentially UPS that provides uninterrupted electricity when the power from PHCN goes off. They mainly consist of Inverter and batteries. The batteries sustain power for a give number of hours at a time before recharge.
A Back-Up installation can later be upgraded, by adding solar panels.

Who needs this Installation?
This system of installation is suitable for people who have at least 10 hours of electricity per day. If you are not sure of the number of hours, you can still install now and later upgrade to the hybrid system. The most important thing is you have started.

2 Stand alone system
This is the most expensive form of Solar Installation. A Stand alone system solely relies on solar energy and does not require PHCN for charging the battery. It isn't connected to a electricity distribution grid operated by a utility.
When considering Stand alone system, you should hire an expert solar engineer to help you calculate the energy audit of your appliance, positioning of solar arrays and number of panels required to let your system run for 24 hours otherwise your batteries may not be getting charged.

Who needs this Installation?
This system of installation is suitable for people who want some part of their appliance in their home or all of their appliances be totally independent of National grid.

3 Hybrid Systems
In a hybrid Solar Installation, there is always electricity round the clock because more than one source is required and available for battery charging. For example, there is the presence of at least two of the following:

• PHCN
• Solar array
• Wind energy
• Fuel/Diesel Generator

Hybrid Installation provides the highest form of power efficiency and availability.

Who needs this Installation?
This system of installation is suitable for people who can't afford the stand alone installation, so the number of solar array is reduced to let other source cover up for the time charging.

There are 3 factors everyone needs to consider before coming up with a budget.
I Energy Load
2 Number of Hours the Battery can sustain without charging
3 Price of each system Component

I have prepared a current quote that describes the design and cost analyst for all size of solar setup ranging from 1.2kva to 15kva for both backup and stand-alone system. With a consultant fee of N5,000, you get the quote sent to you and regular update for any change in price

In the quote I will be sending out, you get the:

1 The Total wattage of all your house appliance
2 Current price of every component, that makes up the solar generator.
3 1.2kva Quote for back up and Stand alone system
4 2kva Quote for back up and Stand alone system
5 2.5kva Quote for back up and Stand alone system
6 3.5kva Quote for back up and Stand alone system
7 5kva Quote for back up and Stand alone system
8 7.5kva Quote for back up and Stand alone system
9 10kva Quote for back up and Stand alone system
10 15kva Quote for back up and Stand alone system
11 We also compare the price of the solar installation to the cost of each system fuel/ Diesel generator for a period of 2 year.

Good day Charpell.

I have a 1.5KVA inverter with two 12V 200AH batteries.

What kind of solar system do I need to efficiently charge the batteries to a minimum capacity of 95% and whats the cost?.

I am also planning on purchasing two more 12V 200AH batteries to make a total of 4. For this, will my solar requirements be different?

Awaiting your response

To upgrade to solar for 2 Batteries

You need 4 units of 200watts panel
You need a 30A MPPT Charge controller

To upgrade to solar for 4 Batteries

You need 7 units of 200watts panel
You need a 50A MPPT Charge controller

200w panel goes for 35-40k
50A Mppt charge Controller is 50k

Hope this helps

You right, that is why I always let it run on low, so I can get 8 hours
Nairaland GeneralReview Of The Lontor Rechargeable Fan And The USB Portable Fan by Charpell(op):
The heat at night get worse daily, this has forced people without alternative energy to look for solution

Two months ago, while I was surfing the internet looking for cheap alternatives for people who cant afford inverters in this heat period, I came across a store on kaymu where different brands, types of rechargeable fan were sold.

The fans came with mouth-watering features for their prices, I checked online for experience from users to know if the fans were worth the price, but I couldn’t find any.

So I decided to take the risk, I went ahead to the market to give it a trial, the experiences so has been nothing short of awesomeness. I planned to buy all 3 fans the sake of review

The 3 categories of fans I want to review are
· Rechargeable Water Mist Fan
· Lontor CTL-CF030 16 Rechargeable Fan
· Havic Portable Rechargeable USB Fan

1 Rechargeable Water Mist Fan aka Water Fan
This fan is far superior and unique from other rechargeable fan I have known. It works like air-condition due to its ability to control the humidity of its environment.
When the weather gets too hot, an ordinary fan will to emit hot air normally. But this fan provides an air cooling effect through its automatic water atomization function. It cools the air by drawing water from the inbuilt 2.1ltrs water can and provide the much-needed humidity in the home. It is sleek and beautifully designed, providing more esthetics for the home. This is a great cooling appliance for home, store and lecture venues.

I didn’t buy this fan because the small size of it was out of stock. So I cant give review because I haven’t used it yet

Price
As of 2 months ago, it was sold for N17,000.

2 Lontor CTL-CF030 16 Rechargeable Fan

The Features
Some of the basic features and specification of the Lontor Rechargeable Fan includes –

3-speed control
16″ max height
Easy oscillation and height adjustment
Built-in LED night-light
AD/DC function (auto-switches)
Over-charge and over-discharge protection
Retailed with 2 piece 6v 4.5Ah rechargeable battery
Charging and operating indicator
12-16 hours charge time

The Review

3-speed control
The fan comes with 3 speed mode (low, medium and fast) to help regulate your desired temperature.

Battery Life
In all, the battery life is good as it will help keep your room cool and comfortable from the moment you turn off your generator until the morning.

Its expected that the more faster the fan, the faster the battery runs down.

Fast 3.5 hours
Medium 5 hours
Low 8 hours

LED Night-Light
The built-in LED night-light is awesome and works even when the battery can no longer power the fan. It can go for as long as four days without issues.
For students, this could add more juice to the lifespan of your reading lamps, saving you the stress of running now and then, looking for a place to charge your lamps.

Charging time
It takes long hours to full charge the battery. I cant give a correct figure, but I’d say it takes between 10-12hours for charging

Oscillatory Movement
The oscillatory movement is awesome; it covers every angle in a room

Pros
Excellent features and value for money
Build quality is okay
Battery duration is great
Addition of Night life

Cons
It takes longer hours to charge
Addiction of a USB port (power bank) would have been a kill

Price N8,000

With the current heat in Nigeria, I think everyone should have any of this affordable fan in their home.

Nice read. I have discussed something like this before and I have a thread which has helped many people understand this:

https://www.nairaland.com/1163912/funds-not-business-actually-need

I have also always maintained that there is a huge demand for all these products. However, my approach was that people should plant these vegetables including tomatoes in Nigeria and make more profit. Imagine, you planting the tomatoes and then selling instead of importing it. Ymodulus has done good for himself and I like his business mind. I will implore that he gets a land and start cultivating this product here in Nigeria together with his import and later when his farm is sustainable, he can reduce the import. In this way, the money stays within Nigeria and helps the economy. And all other youthful mind wanting to jump into this business must think this way...What if I can plant this crop myself?. My thread has explained the potentials and how any type of tomatoes can grow in any part of the world. It was something we did in our little garden in Ondo State with just little fertilizer, our tomatoes were bigger than most bigger tomatoes in the market and for a year we had continuous supply of tomatoes. I explained all these in my thread. You can also read of other business ideas; areas untapped that people can go into. Not everybody can go into the commodity business. No matter how good Ymodulus explains to you, you can't understand until you start and feel it yourself. I did some business years ago in the area of bringing down yams from the North to sell in Lagos and so on. I had to learn the risks when losing and then gained afterwards. In short, please let us encourage Nigerian produce....let the planting begin. Check the thread for other areas you can tap.
This is the best counter post to the topic. Sir I bow to this initiative and would love to take part in agriculture but I have no experience in practical farming. Is there any way you can help me in mentorship?

Lordaweezy:
Kakashi is already the 6th hokage so he shouldn't be on the list, naruto is the 7th hokage so sasuke, shikanaru is eliminated, sarada will probably be the 9th hokage while konohamaru will be the 8th hokage.
When Minato died, the 3rd hokage resumed the hokage title. You can't rule kakashi out beside he is still young.

konohamaru is only 3 or 4 years younger than Naruto

TV/MoviesWho Among This 5 Character Is Likely To Become The 8th Hokage If Naruto Dies? by Charpell(op): 10:59pm On Apr 30, 2016
Naruto is an Uzamaki and would probably outlive all the listed character below, however lets assume naruto was to die early maybe he sacrificed himself for the village or he retired early, who among this character is likely to succeed him?

1 Shikamaru
Shikamaru is the second wisest character in the series and once taunted to be a hokage by his sensei.
He is currently the adviser to the 7th hokage, which makes him Naruto's right hand man.
If we're going by resume, I'd say Shikamaru would be next in line. Shikamaru, I think, certainly has the judgement, political savvy, and shinobi intelligence to be Hokage, a vital skill for a hokage material.
https://www.wall321.com/thumbnails/detail/20120327/naruto%20shippuden%20shikamaru%20nara%201920x1200%20wallpaper_www.wallpaperto.com_13.jpg

2 Sasuke
He is the strongest in the world besides naruto. Sasuke is intelligent and thinks logically.Though he took a wrong path because of many circumstances, he is skillful. But people in konoha may not accept him as Hokage. Sasuke is next in line. He wanted to become hokage just as bad as naruto. If naruto dies, i dont think there is anyone in the village that can stand up to him if he insist on becoming the hokage.
We all know that power is an important factor when considering hokage title
https://www.borutomovieuk.com/images/stills/14.jpg

3 Konohamaru
Konohamaru is the Honorable grandson of the third hokage and probably the only student of Naruto which makes him an hokage material. Konohamaru doesn't have anything special. Although like Hiruzen the third hokage, both of them were simply strong without anything exceptional about them.
For example, in the battle Pain invaded Kooaha, he took down a Pain as a genin. The same battle Pain killed kakashi
He also mastered the Rasengan probably faster than Naruto did. I think he could do it.

4 Kakashi
Kakashi was the sixth hokage, what i dont understand is why he retired so early?
But if Naruto dies early Kakashi will definitely pull a "Hiruzen" stunt. He might rollback as an intermediate Hokage if there is conflict in choosing the above 3 characters. Kakashi was the Third Division Commander, is a war hero and has already been a Hokage for close to a decade so he knows the ins and outs of the job.
https://img08.deviantart.net/4fb5/i/2015/090/d/f/kakashi_hatake___6th_hokage_by_cclaire110-d8nxq3g.png

5 Sarada
Sarada is the daughter of Sasuke and the only candidate not in Naruto generation
All of the Hokages after the first two brothers were trained / mentored by previous Hokage. The only exception to that rule was Minato, but remember that Jiraiya was offered the Hokage position before Tsunande, so in my opinion that still follows the same pattern. Considering it was never mentioned that Naruto was a squad leader of any kind, that would make Konohamaru his only disciple and therefore a prime candidate to follow in his footsteps. Then, since Konohamaru is Sarada's sensei, it would further justify the belief that Sarada could become Hokage. That is why I believe that if the story continued, we would eventually see detailed story on Sarada becoming the 8th Hokage

Alright since its just a month old, you can 2 more batteries to your system.

For the (types, model and number), I recommend mono, simbad, 200watts(4)unit for you 2 batteries. The problem with simbad panels is the cost as per Germany product. If you cant afford it, you can opt for the china ones. but the keyword is mono crystalline.

Charge Controller, 30 amps will do.
