Open a dorm account here.
That simplifies everything.
bt opening a dom acct get k-leg o cos u hve to fund d acct in USD.You have to buy $$ at parallel market at 230-240 and when u want to pay into ur acct, bank will deposit it at official rate(196-198).Meaning you will lose about $$$ on each dollar u exchanged.I guess the best bet is to go along wit some funds in ur Nig acct, wen u get to canny open an acct and let ur peeps transfer funds to the acct using the Form A processs as advised by GoboyegaD.u digg?

For those traveling soon...
Don't forget CBN banned use of MasterCard for ATM withdrawals, you can only use it on POS.
Please, those on ground in Canada should confirm this info, abeg o
No sir, CBN didn't ban the use of mastercard outside the country. They only instituted new restrictions on atm card usage outside the country. This includes $300 withdrawal limit per day and $15, 000 per annum. In addition, CBN has now instituted a tracking system on the use of naira denominated cards abroad so that any1 that disobey the limit rules will be sanctioned.
so no reason to worry.

opened stanbic savings acct last week.i was able to get my mastercard afta a week.
i asked the lady that attended to me abt any updates to be done in other to enroll my card for online banking transcations.she said i only neeed to register on their website for online transac whc i did immediately on my phone.Later gave me a form to fill and she said i can now transact online bt on getting home and launching the online platform to try it,the transactions have been failing including recharging my phone.
Mailed and called the customers service.no quality solution to it.
Any hint frm here on how i can resolve the online itch

its 23kg each bag,2 bags re allowed den hand luggage 7kg,checked air canada.
There are exceptions for free baggage allowance not all passengers get waiver for baggage fee.
The free baggage fees depends on
1. Fare Options:Tango(Lowest fare),Flex,Latitude and Economy.Passengers who book Flex,Latitude and Economy get the free baggage fees.
2. Destination,
3. Date of travel (If you booked before 18th of Sept 2014 you will get free baggage fee for one of the bags)
4. If you are a frequent flyer with air canada.
Wanted to go for the local flight option before but the baggage fees truncated such move smiley
But you can check well to fault this claim smiley

Or he can just save himself the embarrassment and book an appointment. There's a very high chance that they won't attend to him especially at this rush hour medical period.
No form of embarrassment from any quaters for not booking an appointment.Let him go there before 8a.m,he will be attended to.In my case, i didnt book an appointment.

Diamond International visa card is okay in my opinion. You can also give Fidelity bank a try.
Appreciate your input.
STanbic IBTC too charge 240naira per withdrawal and their exchange rate has been consistent and constant for some months now($199.3-199.5 USD) for atm card usage outside the country.Same as CAD

I'll look into the BTA. Thanks a lot.
You welcome
A bit of info for the purchase of BTA. You might not get it immediately you request for it. The bank will have to bid on your behalf which might take 3-7days.In addition, some banks might give you a ^Not available^ answer bt inform them that you are not getting it right away but you want to request for a bid tender through them to CBN. You will only need your flight ticket, visa page and Int passport to present in the bank.

pardon me o....na when course mismatch be my theory....
i know my theories and this is not one of them...

i just gave my opinion.

i can only laugh and pass on the bolded
In your quest to get into the head and mind of the v.o,u over flog issues atimes and doesnt help ur deductions lots of times.
Lemme remind you if you failed to recollect, someone here got his/her trv applied for a SECOND DEGREE in Nursing and studied microbiology as first degree here in Nig.Is that not a course mismatch? why was he/she not denied or was the v.o that approved such visa high on burukutu.
If you care to recollect too mevisbleek said it couple of times that he met few Nigs in Canada recently who had a course mismatch. You make it look as if it is a general rule for the V.Os to deny any applicant based on course mismatch.

Enough Said.Bye

Bros dont take risk of carrying plenty cash as its not safe and you are going to where you have not been before N420 as charges still makes sense than losing your cash and as a matter of fact your cash will be @ black market rate if you are changing it in Naija while master card will use bank rate. Think twice bruv my own candid opinion.
Yah!!you right abt d high price of USD$$ in parallel market its very costly (230-240naira per $). Person money go red wit dt kind exchange rate.

But he can purchase Basic Travelling Allowance(BTA) in banks here in Nig bt they wont sell more than $5000USD at normal CBN exchange rate.

For the amount of cash that travellers are expected to have,it is not illegal for him to have less than $10,000CAN with him or the equivalent in foreign currency.
